Catawba Brewing Tasting Room - South Slope

 

My third and favorite stop of the day. I loved the vibe of this long, airy industrial space.

The bartender was super friendly and wanted to discuss house beers, where we were from, where else we had been that day, etc.

There were approximately 12 to 14 house beers. My group enjoyed everyone and I would say they range from good to very good. No problem finding something interesting to try.

I also liked their side garden. It is a bit funky and very homey.

I also thought it was nice that they had a watering station set-up and I'm not sure why more places don't do that.

A large and lively venue. Efficient, knowledgeable service. Good variety of beer available, including 5 (during my visit) that are available on-site only.

 

This is another brewery / tasting room that has that big warehouse feel to it. Long bar on the right side with some other long family-style tables just off the bar. A few TVs and some rock music give this place a different feel from other places. Big rack of T-shirts in the back next to a water station. There were 12 beers on draft covering several styles. The beers I had ranged from decent to good. Service was very friendly and discussions focused on beer styles and beer related travel. This is a bit hidden off the main beer trail in downtown, but it is easy to find and don't forget to take a beer break at Vortex Donuts next door for a coffee and great donuts.

 

 

Sneaky big indoor space with a fun decor. The selection is hit or miss, sometimes they have a bunch of exclusives and variance, other times it is just flagships and ipas. They allow food carry in and dogs though which is appreciated. More classic range of flavors found here
