Growing up in Buffalo, NY, the old guys from the Bethlehem Steel plant would gather at the local pub, eat bowls of pretzel sticks, and either drink Molson or Genessee.
I hated Molson then and find, 45 years later, that I feel the same. It’s rank, watery, burps terribly, and isn’t even a nostalgia treat.
Shoulda left it alone.,.

Courtesy of the the great @coronaeus sent my way BIF 15 to drink during game 7 of the leafs bolts game... we all know what happened : (

beautiful crystal clear light gold. Nice creamy frothy white head lingers; even get some lacing with the nucleated glass.

Aroma smells like a leafs win; combined with a little bit of malty sweetness. Not much else I’ll say maybe just a touch of hops on the nose too.

Taste watered down subtle sweet maltiness; again a touch of nondescript hoppiness. It’s just enough for me to say it’s hops but not much else can be said.

Light body; nice lively carbonation, low low bitterness on the finish; almost more grainy bitter than hoppy bitter.

Purchased as a single bottle from Publix for $1.90. Poured into a nonic pint glass.

L - Clear, pale straw. Minimal pale white head.
S - Biscuit, corn flakes. Not too much else here.
T - Matches nose. Extremely muted. Essentially a wheat-esque La Croix.
F - It's definitely refreshing. Watery. Light bodied, with plenty of carbonation. Thin.
O - Not great. It's refreshing, and closer to water than beer. Then again, it doesn't really try to be more than it actually is. It's not really worth trying, and I won't get it myself. I wouldn't really turn one down, though.

One of my favorite lagers. Like Labatt’s Blue, you can find this beer at some Florida Publix stores and a 6pack is cheaper than American beers. Way better than anything Anheiser Busch makes.

See through beer. Pretty tasteless, awkwardly sweet at first, then bland. It's easily chuggable and refreshing, but it truly tastes as if it's 90% water. The smell is decent, though.

Drank my fair share of this when not drinking Golden in college in Rochester. Molson dominated there. While fond memories and nostalgia drive a likely higher-than-deserved rating, I do believe this still tastes okay, and quenches the thirst, after a long day of snowmobile riding in the great north woods of NH.

Its important to not become too comfortabley numb by rating only experimental craft brews. I have had Molson on draft in Vancouver, BC but this is the first time from the bottle.
In the glass it appears strikingly clear, like more so than water. Typical lager color, straw yellow without much shine. Carbonation looks gentle and viscosity is very flimsy. A nose of grainy stale malt and sweet corn mixed, generally flat. Not much hops out of the glass.
Nose more intense than palate: tasting like Rainer, Coors, Bud etc.

Very similar to Kokanee but not as sweet.

This is not at all a bad tasting beer. Though the feel leaves a bit to be desired. This beer would be a lot better with any carbonation. It sorta has the feeling of a flat beer even though it doesn't taste like flat beer. Otherwise the taste is not that bad.

Molson Canadian pours into my glass the usual pale, straw color as any lager. The head is rocky, white, and surprisingly lasting.

Aromas of sweet corn up front, supported by pale, biscuit malts lending their own sort of sweetness to the profile. The nose seems to thin out at this point, giving a sort of generic dried graininess combined with a musty, dusty quality like an abandoned, dust filled room. Only there for a second, and then gone. Finish gives the barest, briefest hint of grassy, leafy hops before fading into the background.

On the tongue, Molson Canadian is smooth and rounded, with an up front sweetness. Sweetness is fairly generic to start but soon tastes like creamed corn. Roundness builds slightly in the center, accentuating Molson's basic refreshing qualities. That rounded quality blends with a more generic sweetness held up by generic pale malts to give a profile that is surprisingly balanced and refreshing.

Molson Canadian is a pretty simple, straightforward beverage. As lagers go however, it has most of the right flavors and while Molson doesn't hide its adjuncts, it doesn't smack you in the face with them either. I would gladly have this on a hot summer day, or any day when I just needed a little refreshment.

Clear pale gold color. Pours a short head that collapsed in less than half a minute to only a ring around the edge of the glass. Moderate flow of small bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Left no lacing.

Sweet scent. Very light yeast funk. Very light malt. Something else that I can't identify. Swirling the glass kicked up just a hint of barnyard for a couple of seconds.

Slightly sweet with a little bit of malt flavor. There is a hint of some pepper-like spice when it warms up a bit. The unidentifiable scent shows up in the flavor as well, but is more offensive in the flavor. I still can't figure out what it is. The aftertaste is some of the sweet malt and just a bit of some bitters.

Moderate tongue tingling as it grows to a coarse foam. Slightly astringent.

The weird scent and flavor do not seem like something that should be in a beer. The slight hint of barnyard when agitated is a nice touch. This is a rather average (and inoffensive) New World mass market Lager. I don't think any Germans would consider this comparable to their every day beer.

A traditional Canadian lager that I consider a great summer beer, best served ice cold.

Look, it’s better than any American Macro and less expensive than most of them. It’s the typical macro. No taste, smells like skunk, overly carbonated but in the middle of a pandemic, it’ll do just find.
