24 fl oz aluminum can somehow acquired at a bodega in Brooklyn for a scant 92 cents. Don't ask me how.

7.30% ABV. "No preservatives" (aside from hops, I assume...)

Honestly, it's a little better than I expected in spite of its syrupy sweetness and off-putting sticky mouthfeel. Medium-bodied. All I taste is cheap malt and adjunct. Simple and shallow fare with average duration and intensity of flavour.

Booze is evident, but it's not egregious.

I'll finish the can with some effort, but it's not the worst fare I've encountered. You could do worse at this price tier and ABV, but it's still pretty poorly built and lacks balance.

Low D- (1.80) / AVOID

It's different than the macrobrews taste wise. It really isn't that good, but it's got a unique character. Also, the head lasts a bit longer than it does with Bud or many of the other macrobrews. It has a higher alcohol content, but it does have some other good qualities besides that. I wouldn't say it's great beer, but it isn't terrible either.

Really, does anyone at Beer Advocate think any of the swill water beers are worthy? I've had all the molsons and all I can say is that if you're just looking for a basic beer without all the effort and let's face it, 'stuff' that ends up in a quality micro, this one is not bad at all. I can drink one or two without feeling full. It won't wow you, but it won't make you run for the mouthwash either. I'm surprised so many here feel it's so bad.

Look = Dark yellow, golden straw color
Smell = grainy malt and alcohol
Taste = strong grainy malt and sweet...and alcohol
Feel = highly carbonated and thick

Not bad for the price. Especially if you want something with more flavor and kick than a regular adjunct lager. I tried it on the rocks as well. That kicked out some of the carbonation and thinned it down, which made is smoother and more palatable.

Look - A touch darker than your typical macro lager, head forms at first then quickly dissipates. Fairly high level of carbonation visible.

Smell - Grainy malt and booze. That's about it here.

Taste - Very similar to the smell, though perhaps the taste is slightly smoother than the smell would suggest. The booze is there but it doesn't burn, finishes quite dry with minimal aftertaste.

Feel - Appropriate level of carbonation. Slightly prickly feel on the tongue but not overwhelming.

Overall - Poor tasting brew but I admittedly gave it some bonus points for the price and strength. When served very cold, this is at least a serviceable beer. Though unless I ever end up unemployed for an extended period of time I don't plan on purchasing this again.

Poured into a narrow pilsner glass: color is straw gold, head is off to bright white, nice bubbly lacing on the glass, very carbonated

Smell is very grainy, very flat flavored, not enticing. worst quality of the beer and only gets worse as the beer warms.

Taste better than many adjunct lagers, funny to think this is tagged as a malt liquor, but i guess thats where it falls when you put these ingredients together and get this result. Barley malt is barely present with a heavy grain focus flavor, corny, hops are flat in flavor.

Mouthfeel is ok at the start, but as it warms the brew becomes sharp from the carbonation and harsher grain flavors. I did have a thought that this brew was not so bad, but give it 5 minutes to warm up and it shows its true colors.

Overall, not so bad compared to many similar in the style and at this strength, but you need it icey cold to numb your tastebuds.

Super malty, super sweet, unbalanced, almost no hops to speak of, garbage. It reminds me of Malta Goya soda. It puts on a good buzz if that's all you're going for but there are tastier ways to get drunk. I'd rather drink twice as many Coors Lights than half as many Molson XXX's. I don't hate Molson Canadian but I cannot stand this Molson varietal.

Poured from a 24 OZ can into a pint glass. Yes, I lack common sense.
This beer is not horrid, but it will not make my "gosh, I am craving a beer list". . . ever! It is made to impair and it does it well. The flavor is fairly rich with cereal and corn. Not much more to say but , it is sold mostly in gas stations here in GA.

After drinking this beer I didn't expect to make a review. But it scores so low that I can't help but say that it's not that bad. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't drink this to often. But it's not that bad.

First beer I got drunk on. Stored behind my garage to hide from my parents for about 6 months before drinking. Beer was absolutely ruined, and it ruined me. It will always be a memory of the reason it took me another 5 years to get into beer.

Looks and feels like your typical Molson going down but a bit heavier of course with more alcohol bite. Decent if you're looking for something average but will take much less to get a good buzz from.

Not bad, but not great. Although it has a clean, crisp feel and finish, the flavor seems a bit medicinal to me. In my opinion, regular Molson is better.

I feel bad giving this brew such a poor review. I can vaguely recall having some great times with XXX, when I was"younger". This was the holy grail, XXX was the ultimate party beer.

I'm a big fan of Molson Canadian, and so far, I think I'm the only one in my neighborhood who says that. At the liquor store I work in, nobody buys the twelve packs, and the only Molson product that moves is Molson Ice. Nonetheless, I had a friend who went to Canada pick me up a twelve pack of a Molson beer they didn't carry in the states and he returned with a twelve pack of Molson XXX. Had no idea Molson was also known to bulk-package their own signature malt liquor, but you can never predict beer nowadays.

The beer is your archetypal malt liquor, with a surprisingly heavy bottle boasting thick glass. It's a sweeter beer, with high tones of corn husk, sweetness, and a sharp alcohol bite that gives you 7.3% abv with no subtly whatsoever. It's gonna take me a while to get rid of this twelve pack, given I cannot session this beer. Not bad, but nothing special, and a sharp downfall from the greatness of Molson Canadian.

Pours a golden yellow with a medium white head. Has fruity citrus nose with some grains and cereal, corn flavor. Palate is a medium body, carbonation is good. The finish is the same as above with some lingering sweet grains and alcohol on the end. Overall not too bad, an ok drinking brew for the style.

A: snow white, fizzy foam forms on the pour, dies out to a thin, perimeter scum... sun-shiny amber liquid, crystal clear... occasional thin streak of lace

S: vaguely similar aromatics to a dry, spicy Belgian strong pale like Delirium... bit of that lightly-toasty, popcorny, curiously buttery pils malt note that some of those abbey blond knockoffs have... a bit pissy on the edges

T: oooh... hmmm... might have let this sit a couple minutes too long before popping the seal... dank, blanket spiciness with a low hum of rubbing alcohol to fill it out... there's a dry, powdery sort of quality to the malt, drop of brittle sweetness... strong aftertaste of dirty nickels and paperclips... spectre of dry apple juice late... the marginal deficit in malt sweetness matched with the metallic nuance and a bland, mildly clove-like phenol lingering in the finish groups this more with those purposefully-potent Belgian pales... dirty and metallic overall

M: relatively dry with a light-medium flow on the entry, rounds up a bit on the follow through... this really oughta be drunk quite cold...

O: well... not my favorite malt liquor... bit of a European approach to its constitution that works to a disadvantage here... it might be alright if the metal element was toned down - there's obviously something tasty hiding below - has to get through unobstructed

If you're acting as a beer "snob", it's not good, but if you're *trying* to mangle yourself (because it clocks in at 7.3%), you could do a lot worse. It doesn't taste bad at all, but it's nothing to write home about. It's clearly made for people who are trying to mangle themselves, so for the style/purpose, I'll call it okay/goodish.

Molson XXX brewed by Molson Coors Canada. This brew has an Abv of 7.3 . Now for being a higher abv it is not as dark as most brew with higher abvs. This brew pours out a dark amber color with a small white head. The smell, right off the bat, is sweet. It smells like malt liquor and it also has that look. The taste is bold, sweet, and refreshing. This brew has a different aftertaste but it is not bad. This beer goes down smooth, but you can tell the 7.3 abv. There is nothing bad about this brew. This beer must be cold to drink. Overall, I'm giving this brew a 3.25 out of 5.

DATE TASTED: August 30, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: 22 oz. pilsner glass... OCCASION: watching The Tree of Life and trying to see what the director sees...APPEARANCE: pale golden effervescent body that holds a half-finger, off-white oily head; appears to be a pilsner; tracing is surprisingly consistent... AROMA: high-pitched doughy malts; toasted oats and cereal--not raunchy, but not appealing...PALATE: thin, slightly textured with the warmth of alcohol overtly at the throat; thirst quenching, yes...TASTE: blandly doughy; highly malty--the 40 ounce variety that makes this bitter and slightly abrasive... OVERALL: the XXX appeals for a purely frat-boy infatuation--I recall a good friend proudly plopping this on our curb, proclaiming the party to be "on"...otherwise, this lager scores a few points for not punishing with the alcohol, but t is worth seeking out almost solely for the alcohol per dollar ratio....

This beer is great cold or at room temperature. It tastes amazing and goes down very smooth. I will pay top dollar for it every time. The alcohol content keeps me happy as well. The only downside I can find is if it sits around long enough, it tends to have a lot of head, and in a bottle this can be a problem. All around a very good beer.

Molson XXX has a thin, stark-white head, a deep, golden appearance, lots of bubble streams, and a minimum amount of residual lacing. The aroma is bold- sweet grain and a faint hop sting. Taste is of sweet malt, whole kernel corn, and a subtle background hop bite. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Molson XXX Super Premium Beer finishes crisp, refreshing, sort of wet, corny, and surprisingly drinkable. This may be the smoothest high gravity lager on the market. No doubt, it's worth a try.

Molson XXX

LOOK: Pours a clear golden color, white head forms and has some staying power, but eventually recedes to a ring.

SMELL: Has that cheap beer smell, mainly corn but certainly other adjuncts.

TASTE: Creamy malt and miscellaneous grain sweetness, and a good dose of processed hops that does provide a coarse bitterness. Still finishes on the sweet side. The alcohol is well hidden.

FEEL: Medium bodied, well carbonated, slick on the palate leaving a bittersweet corn flavor behind.

OVERALL: This is much better than I remember. Used to pound these in college.

Ah, Canadian-brewed beers in big cans. I was a big fan of Canadian Foster's for many years until they started brewing it in Texas and Alabama. Also a big fan of Molson Golden until they started brewing it in Colorado. Been meaning to try this one for a review for quite some time. Hope it lives up to my previous experience.

Served in an Imperial pint glass.

-Appearance 2.5: Very light golden color. Looks kind of watery. I imagine the brewmaster was going for something different, maybe a "true golden color" or something. Regardless, dropping some 40L grains in there would have made it look more...professional.

-Smell 3.0: The bouquet is of sweet barley with some slight adjunct hints. This has a distinct lager smell, which is sometimes bad, but in this case is actually just average.

-Taste 2.75: Front is slightly sweet, with adjunct hints of corn coming through the taste. Middle is smooth and light with slight tastes of barley. Finish is big with waves of sweet, malty goodness. However, this quickly fades into a smooth aftertaste that features more corny adjunct flavors. Are there hops in this? Maybe kent golding or something way down the alpha scale. Also, there is a pervasive, unnatural quality to this beer. The word "industrial" springs to mind. It started to grow in my palate after each sip until I felt like just giving up and stopping my session.

-Mouthfeel 3.25: Spot on for this style. Carbonation (CO2, of course) was refreshing and hit the mark. Nice, smooth mouthfeel, also.

-Overall 2.75: This brew is certainly not going to win any medals, but it is not the nightmare experience that some would have you believe it to be. It is a big beer and since it is a cheap beer, that means lots of adjuncts. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing regarding bouquet and mouthfeel. This is not a bad beer and you sure as shootin' could do a lot worse. I would recommend it to be consumed in limited quantities. Not a session beer unless you live in a cardboard box near the railyard.

Here's what this beer is: a beer that tastes like your typical American mass-produced lager but cleverly hides almost twice the alcohol content. Sure, it tastes like Budweiser, but you will be way more intoxicated than you expect to be. Molson XXX packs a punch. If you want something cheap that gets you drunk, look no further. Not much in the taste/smell(reminiscent of corn) department, but it gets a 5 from me in the category of "how drunk I am after 2 of them" :) Refreshing, fun, overall I was glad I bought it and will probably buy it again unless I find another beer with 7.3 abv for 12.99 a 12 pack.
