I remember buying these in what we used to call "splits", a 7 oz. bottle. A friend of mine and I drank an entire case of them in one night back in 1980 or so and we thought it was great beer. I've seen 12 packs of bottles (12 oz.) from time to time and I'd buy them, but I came across a case of 12 oz. cans this weekend and scooped it up @ $13.99. A great value in my opinion. One of the best "cheapo" beers around and is a hell of a lot better than PBR.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a straw like color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of mild grains. Taste is malts, grains, some metallic notes at the finish. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is not bad at this price point, but drinks more like a Pale Lager than a Vienna.

Simple, better-than-Canadian corn beer. Reminds me of my childhood. This was dad's swill of choice for a number of years.

Availability in Rochester NY is spotty, but a few places have it in 12-pack bottles. My favorite light macrobrew. Extremely well balanced. Clean, crisp, mild flavor. I always look for it on the first hot days of the year because of how refreshing it is. Nice label design too.

OV is a highly refreshing 'vintage' or 'dirty old man beer' that's been around a long time. Canadian adjunct lagers tend to be a LITTLE more full bodied than their American counterparts. This certainly has more body than say Miller High Life. Beers like Labatt Blue, Molson Canadian, Formosa Springs and other budget beers like Laurentide or Crystal fall into this category.

According to the website, OV is supposedly all malt, but I can't be sure that they are telling the truth.

Despite this, for the style, or even smaller category of 'Canadian Style Lager', OV nails it. It is bubbly almost light ale like while still retaining the crispness of a lager. It smells of grain and clean water, and BEER. No off notes in the scent. The mouthfeel is light-medium light, and the beer fully coats the palate with malty sweetness balanced perfectly by the modest amount of hops. The finish is crisp, refreshing and dry, making you want to take another sip. Perfect for sessioning and not too heavy. This is my go to when I want to have a few and hang with some friends. The price point helps also!

Maybe some of my waxing poetic about this beer is nostalgia; my Windsor ON family has been drinking this stuff for many years. That being said, having tried just about every American/Canadian style lager I can get my hands on, I crave this beer the most.

As I've found with other Molson beers, OV seems to test best out of the bottle or on draft. Molson canned beers always taste funky to me.

So "Just say OV!"

Pours very pale gold with a thin head that lasts well for how thin it is. It hangs on for dear life . Clear. has a mild nose. earth for hops and a touch of apple skin. Some malty scent. grain. earthy malt. taste follows the nose. Mild. Fruity eseter seems subdues int he drink and the beer has a nice dryness. finishes crisp, clean and with no off flavors. Hop give a crisp bitterness. Light mild malty.

This 12-pack was brewed in Golden, Colorado.

Old Vienna is listed as a pale lager with the ingredients being only water, barley malt, hops, and yeast. It has a thin, white head, a clear, bubbly, golden straw appearance, with some bits of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet malt, white bread, and clean water. Taste is the same, with a mild, rounding hop bite at the end. Mouthfeel is high-light, and Old Vienna finishes crisp, refreshing, and it seems to be a bit higher quality than others of its ilk.

Good and drinkable for the money. Much better than comparable beers at this price.
