Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours an extremely dark brown hue with no light emerging with backlighting. Nice 2-3 inch frothy and finely bubbled tan mocha head with excellent retention. Leaves thin lacing behind on the glass.
S: Soft honeyed chocolate malt, lightly charred oak, toasted crème brûlée, light roast coffee, vanilla, brown sugar, and an herbal mint note.
T: Charred oak, toasted chocolate malt, soft grains, medium roast coffee with cream, vanilla, crème brûlée, toasted marshmallow, and a hint of coconut.
M: Medium body. Layers of malty sweetness with toasted oak to add a touch of bitterness and astringency. Soft and creamy feel. Lingers nicely on the palate.
D: An excellent stout with a restrained ABV at 8.2% that makes this beer extremely drinkable. Nice complexity and barrel characteristics. The blending of barrel aged beer (half in first use barrels and half in second use barrels) adds an additional level of depth to this brew.

750ml Bottle
Capped/Bottle Conditioned

Poured into a chalice a very nice dark brown color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger light tan head, which also leaves a very nice medium/small size islands, and some oil slicks, and some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice chocolate/toffee, bourbon/whiskey notes, kinda woody/roasty, vanilla, licorice. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice chocolate/toffee notes, some bourbon/whiskey, some woody/roastyness, vanilla, nice touch of licorice. Medium Body, ABV hidden very well, a very nice complex/balanced brew, Overall, a very tasty brew. Glad I got a chance to try it.

Very well balanced with the various flavors. Unfortunately a little bit thin which is the only thing holding it back.

Picked up a bottle directly from the Jessup Farm Barrel House.

Poured a deep brown with minimal head that lasted a few minutes.

Aroma was mild and gave little hint to the underlying flavor.

Flavor was rich and enjoyable and not overpowering on the whiskey notes. Very well balanced and easy to enjoy.

Feel wasn't heavy not crisp but again, well balanced.

Overall this was a very enjoyable beer that still tastes like a beer. I find many bourbon barrel brews to be so strong on the whiskey notes that the flavor of "beer" is lost. This brew is all about a harmonious balance.

Pours near-black with a persistent tan head and lacing.

The nose and taste are a typical stout - chocolate, roast, root beer, char, and mild bitterness - with hints of bourbon complexity. Well-made.

The mouthfeel starts medium then dries out.

Overall, tasty. A simple BBA stout that delivers.

Dark black, no head.
Strong whiskey aroma, a little bit of chocolate.
Whiskey taste up front, followed by a little chocolate.
The alcohol is too intrusive; not much else gets through.
