16 oz can poured into a tulip, dated 9/29/17
Look: Opaque molten gold with a semi-thick layer of lasting white foam. Nice lacing.
Smell: Burst of tropical fruit, ripe melon and heavy lime rind.
Taste: Fresh crushed lemon and lime with a slight passion fruit tart upfront which develops into candied peach and mango. Slight rindy bitterness on the finish. Lacking much of a malt presence, all hop juice.
Feel: Full body without becoming viscous. A pleasant, lingering hop presence around the teeth and gums. Very smooth, finishing on the drier side for the style.
Overall: This is a stellar collab with Parish for a good cause, Hurricane Harvey relief. As a fan of Motueka, I highly enjoyed the heavy citrus aroma and taste. The mouthfeel is perfect for my preference of the style; thick, rich, but not too heavy. I typically prefer hazy IPAs on the sweeter side, but this is reminiscent of a Ghost in the Houston Haze, which means a nice balance of creamy, slightly bitter, and somewhat dry interpretation. Very well done.
