Crane’s first 100% spontaneous beer to my limited knowledge.
Deep saturated orange, lightly hazed with a cap of loose foam that settles and fades after a few minutes.
Oak and citrus in the aroma, trace Brett funk lending a slight element of horsehair. Acidity is noticeable even in the aroma, the tinest bit of trace vinegar, but it lends itself well and isn’t overpowering.
Tart and citric, lemon, grapefruit, kumquat fruit flavors with a mild oaky aftertaste. Juicy feel at first with a bone dry finish. Moderately carbonated with a light to medium feel. Overall this is a very nice wild ale, and one of the more complex i’ve had from Crane.
Edit: A second bottle sampled 3 months later didn't fare as well, seemed to have some solventy chlorine traces.
