The aroma is an intoxicating blend of lightly sulpherous molasses and Coppenhagen snuff. The body is flat black with a slowly diminishing finger thick mocha head. Very sweet molasses, sugar, raisin fore with some caramel and cane syrup notes. I think the Malzbier part of the name might indicate this is meant to taste like a Malta Beverage and it does a little. Well...if you like really sweet malt accented dark beer-like stuff this is your beverage!

Poured a dark black/brown color, opaque, with a beige head that lightly forms on top. The scent of malt and dried fruit is very evident, the dried fruit smell is mostly of currants. The taste, I will ask this question; is there a crazed belgian monk in Brazil? Holy cow this is sweeter than most sodas, I mean pucker sweet, this was really unexpected. The feel, if you can get by the taste, is medium bodied, but it gains weight as it crosses the palate. A surprise of a beer, not something I would drink alot of, but is very unique.

Not as bad as people say. At least it didnt used to be. One of the first dark beers i enjoyed and definately the first sweet stout.

Pours a near mahogany color (no light passes through); the head is a pretty tan but thin, leaves some lace.

Vanilla ice cream with honey is the smell I first thought of. This reminds me of the aroma I'd get from a bowl of Cap'n Crunch. I've never had this smell before in a beer. Not very appealing.

Holy sugar candy, Batman. This tastes like sugar was added after fermentation. I won't be able to take another sip.

Ugh, think chocolate skim milk with carbonation.

Deep black color with a thin caramel head with very low retention.
Aroma of roasted malts with burnt caramel and molasses, hints of licorice and black currents.
Predominant sweet taste of caramel and black currants with a flavor a bit similar to a coke that lost its carbonation. Dry and sweet aftertaste.
Medium body with low carbonation.
Aroma was actually unexpectedly interesting but flavor was overly sweet and not pleasant. I wouldn’t drink it again.

This is one of those beers that makes you a little wary just looking at the bottle. Pours like a Porter, really dark brown with a medium thick light brown head that dissipates immediately. Very little lacing. Super sweet malt aroma. Medium-bodied but the cloying sweetness is so overpowering this beer is impossible to drink. I liken it to drinking Coca-cola syrup. All malt, molasses, caramel - anything sweet you can put in a beer. It never lets up. The finish is sickeningly sweet as well, making this for a drain pour. Only a person with an insatiable sweet tooth would enjoy this.
