Nice foamy white head with decent retention and good lacing sits atop a golden, borderline amber body which is clear and lightly bubbly. Musty vegetable aroma. Honestly smells like a lightly used shoe, not bad but definitely not good. Not hoppy, not malty, kind of yammy, a descriptor I tend to use for crappy, old, or old crappy beers. Up front it’s really generic and light in flavor, balance is far towards malt. Tastes like it was brewed ages ago which ironic considering it came from a package of antique styles, maybe they literally found some old ass beer. A hint of hops at the end, not as much as a vegetable flavor as I’ve experienced in some brews but still quite odd. M/D - Light to moderate body. Drinkable. What I’ve learned from this variety pack so far. Old beer all tastes the same, and old.

Pours a nice clear amber with an average white head that leaves some good lacing. Aroma has a malty core with grassy, caramel and fruity hints. Malty flavor includes a bit of hops, a bit of apple and pear, and a bit of caramel - nice, if nothing to Tweet about. Smooth texture has good fizz and decent body. Better as a party drink, or to go with a meal.

Got this in a mixed box of 'Beer of America' gift box for Christmas. Most of the beers were not impressive. I pour this one into a pint glass.
Half inch, loosely packed white head. Cloudy dark copper in color. A nice layer of retention and some lacing.
Raw grains, pale caramel malts and muted citrusy hops. Pretty well balanced with seemingly mediocre adjuncts.
Taste doesn't deviate much from my nose's suggestion. Perhaps the muted hops are less muted, but still far from fresh and not forward enough to compete with even an average beer in this style.
Light to medium body with a crisp finish.
Funny just reading the new BA mag and this brewery is mentioned in the 'So Bad, It's Good' article.

Pours a clear dark copper color with an off-white rocky head. There seems to be tons of lacing as well. Smell is sweet and malty. Lots of caramel upfront with some faint hops in the background. Very simple and straight forward. Flavor is lacking. Sort of sweet with a bitterness that doesn't seem to be coming from the hops. Not good. The beer leaves an undesirable medicine aftertaste. Mouth feel is light and highly carbonated. I can't stop burping. To bubbly for me. Minhas fails to impress me again. Ill drink the rest of this one and take the other bottle I have and put it down the firing range.

Nice foamy tan head and the beer is the color of honey. Looks a little flat but decent overall. Kind of a mediciney malty smell combined with carmel, grass, and some hoppyness. Nice smooth sort of creamy texture, right amount of bitterness, countered by a bit of malty sweetness. Maybe a minute detection of a honey flavor. Pretty basic beer. No crazy special flavors or anything unusual, just a pretty good example of what a pale ale should be.

Clear copper with a big rocky head of merengue like tan foam that slowly melts leaving plenty of sticky lace on the glass. The nose is certainly more English than American with herbal smelling hops, pale malt and notes of buttered toast. The flavors follow suit for the most part with green apple skin, earthy hops (Fuggles/Golding?) and pale malts. Light, borderline watery with mild carbonation. A fairly wimpy "pseudo craft" beer but not entirely undrinkable. I won't seek this brew out again.

Review from notes on 9/18/09
A - poured clear golden amber, rather still, with a short lived bubbly white head. A small patch of lace reminds me of its sadness. 2.0
S - Very faint. Couldn't get much out of it except some grainy malt sweetness. 2.0
T - Rather bland. Touch of malt, metal, slight twang of hops. No real aftertaste, not much to offer. My tastebuds are bored. 2.0
M - Thin, very carbonated. Next...2.0
D - Meh, I've had better and worse. The thing is that it drinks like soda water, which I do not like at all. Would not get this again. 1.5
Overall - As part of the History of Beers in America or whatever pack, it's one of the crappier ones. Doesn't reflect craft brewing or APA's at all.

poured an almost clear deep golden with barely any head pouring rigerously and no lacing.
smells like funky mount hood hop and skunky malt
very astringent malty flavor with some harsh bitterness. Glad I only bought one bottle from a mixed six pack. guess I should've checked the reviews first huh...?
this was a drain pour, didn't think twice about it. One of the worst APAs I've ever had.

Berkshire Springs Stock Ale
beer number five in the 'beers of america' pack. in my initial tastings, i figured this one to be the best of the bunch. it probably is, if only because there is a hint of flavor with which to cover the dirt water taste. just like the rest, though, it's bland and unassuming. easy to drink, easy to pass up.
pours a clear yellow with some orange in the middle. some aggro pouring produces a foamy little head that sticks around for a few seconds and leaves a few tiny dots behind. there's a good bit of sediment floating around.
smells of grains and slight hops.
tastes like sweet grains, with a little bit of citrus tang at the end and a suggestion of hops. the malt profile is weak and watery. it's not strong enough to say much about it other than, like all the other 'beers of america', it tastes diluted.
mouthfeel approaching full and carbonated. much better than most of the 'beers of america'. drinkability pretty easy, but i think i'll have a beer with some flavor now.
