With Coviod 19 everywhere, all of our local breweries are shuttered. This Stout really hits the mark for meeting my dark beer wants. Value priced at 3.99 plus deposit, Thirsty Miner is a fresh, light, and smooth beer. Very close to some of our local stouts which retail at $8.99 a six pack.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a deep brown nearly black color with a big billowy tan colored head. The head fades rather fast leaving a tiny bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a cola like aroma mixed with some smells of a toasted malt and cocoa smell. Along with these smells comes a little bit of a hay and musty smell along with a touch of char.
Taste – The taste begins with a very dry roasted malt and caramel taste that has a little bit of an herbal and hay taste mixed within. Upfront in the taste there is very little cocoa, but as the flavor advances some cocoa does come to the tongue, all while the roastiness and some char come as well. The sweetness all the while fades a little bit, and is joined by a touch of a herbal and hay flavor. These flavors take the taste to the end to leave one with a drier, lighter cocoa, but nicely roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly lighter in thickeness and creaminess for a stout with a carbonation level that is average. A little lighter carbonation and a thicker body may have been slightly better, but overall the feel was pretty decent.
Overall – For the price point this is a nice roasty and toasty stout with a nice hit of char and a slightly drier, less sweet taste. While the cocoa is very light overall, if looking of a decent dry stout, this is quite nice, and at the price point, its spot on!

Appearance: Near black body, all but opaque to light, crowned with a massive, persistent tan-colored head, with superb retention. Thick, unbroken lacing loats the glass walls.
Aroma: Abundant notes of dark roast coffee, and to a much lesser extent, cocoa. There is also a faint hint of sweetness. The aroma is more of strong dark roasted cold coffee, than cocoa, or chocolate. No hop presence that I could detect.
Taste: Cold, dark coffee dominates the taste from start to finish. Along the way, there are notes of bitter cocoa, as well. Late in the taste, there is a hint of burnt flavor. Finishes with a note of strong cold coffee. As in the aroma, no hop presence was notable.
Mouth feel: A touch thin, with hints of zesty carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Not bad at all. Purchased at HEB in Texas for a modest $4.89 for a six-pack of twelve-ounce cans, One would be hard-pressed to find any other chocolate stout near this price point. Though it seems to me to be more of a coffee stout, a good value, nonetheless. I expect it would pair very well with chocolate desserts.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve ounce aluminum can, served in a South American-style Pilsener glass.
