Medium body as well as medium carbonation that does dissipate quickly if you take your time with this.
Aroma is malt, corn syrup, something like buttered grainy bread. There's a floral candied honey scent that is pretty pleasing and interesting.
Taste is malt and corn syrup up front followed by everything else that showed up in the aroma.
I know I'm supposed to not like it but this was decent. Only knock against it is the corn syrup and the carbonation doesnt last. To be fair I drank this pretty slow though.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume III, Issue II:

Canned beer still has too many myths tied around it: Sure, craft brewers are canning, but the typical lager in a can has been shunned by the new emerging beer snob.

Crystal-clear golden color, decent enough head retention to last the duration of this session. Not much to the aroma; very clean with only a hint of cereal. Very crisp and light bodied. Right off, the crispness is in the hop bitterness, which aims all of its sharpness at the malt. The malt comes off grainy but clean; grassy with a hint of animal feed grain and cereal grain. Faintly nutty and husky; clean and dry palate throughout. Small breath of alcohol. Dry almost all the way with a linger of the alcohol and cereal grain on the tongue.

Pedestrian? Sure, but that is what the style calls for, and where Minhas lands with its beer. Good balance, and just enough in the aftertaste to know you want more. We dig this beer. Even though it's 6.2-percent ABV, we'll tag it as a session lager LOL. We envision a pitcher of this beer and a plate of chili-filled nachos grande.

Give this a try. This is significantly different than Budwiser, miller, coors, etc.. It has a pleasant honey like sweetness and tanginess that makes it really good. I think this is my new go-to.

I like the Simpler Times Lager because it's exactly what it says. Sorry this is my first review so I'm not going to get into details. It is a cheap drinkable beer. Perfect for when you just need to unwind after a hard day or work and don't want to spend $12 for a damn 6 pack.

Leave it to TJs for selling this hidden treasure. Its less then $4 a six pack everyone! A solid lager with 6.2 % ABV! Figuring .64 cents a can, the profit margin here is low. I know I can make a good craft beer at home in 10 gallon batches for around .52 cents per beer. Of course, Minhas is brewing in bulk so ingredients are cheaper etc... But still, look at the typical mark up when you go to a local craft brewery where your paying $5 to $7 or more per pint. Or a craft brew at the grocery store typically costing $10 a six pack. Once again TJs comes through just like their 3 buck Chuck for all the wine drinkers out there. A good second bottle, wine drinkers know what I mean. Of course, I happen to drink both so I am in luck thanks to TJs!

Poured a 12oz can into my Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass. The beer pours a highly fizzy gold with a big 3 inch head that quickly disappears into nothingness. No head retention regardless of the major nucleation point on the glass. The aroma is overwhelmingly sweet. Almost to the point where it reminds me of unfermented wort. Just a bit of grassiness but not much else. The flavor is the same with just malty sweetness in whats supposed to be a light, clean lager. Almost a vegetal undertone. Not very good. The mouthfeel i sweet finishing just south of dry. Overall, its meh for a cheap beer. I don't think I'll be buying another 6 pack.

poured into a new belgium globe, this one pours a crystal clear goldenrod yellow with a frothy one-finger macro-esque head that fades to a thin collar that deposits fair lace.

aroma out of the can on the pour has a bit of that funky, strawy, adjuncty quality that reminds me of stale bmc...but once in the glass, it smells fresh with notes of caramel, honey, straw, and a bit of euro hopping. not bad.

taste is pleasantly clean with a decent fresh malt, some generic light caramel sweetness and a touch of hops to finish it off. it kinda works. nothing outstanding, but it's kind of hitting the spot at the moment.

mouth is acceptable... a bit fizzy, but as expected. moderate body. a touch slick, sweet, with a lingering sticky finish.

it's pretty much what I expected. which isn't bad. given the price point, its really hard to knock this one. Scores are based on the style... and for an AAL, this one is the bees knees.

Impulse Buy at Trader Joes, can's for $3.99. all in all... pretty delicious. as an Ale man, i find this little morsel quite delectable, and over many macros, rich. not much head to speak of, but i can get around that. a nice golden/amber look, but not much to mention. a reverberant taste, that sticks around, but doesn't overstays its welcome. a sterling brew. one of the better impulse buys, for me... but i don't want to speak too soon. at 6.2%, you can't wag you finger too much, and at the nice price, its a value beyond most. Simpler Times Lager, why not beer in a can. as far as drinkability, i could drink many of these, repeatedly. its nice that you can get the sixer in cans and after one, just loop them in your belt. a welcome change of pace for me, get them for a god price.

keep in mind, this is a lager, and it rates high in spite of the bias.

At $2.99 a six pack at Trader Joes why not?

Aggressive pour from a can into an Imperial Pint glass. The frothy white head reached the brim of the glass and then disappeared nearly as fast as it formed without leaving a trace of it's once vibrant existance. The color is a crystal clear light golden one. Lots of carbonation up front, but if you're not pounding this one you'll wonder where it went.

Immediately after the pour I immersed my nose into the glass and got a sulfur lager yeast aroma which quickly faded to the sweetness of Iowa's number one crop...corn. Nothing special here, but not unpleasant either.

The taste is similar to the aroma...maybe just a hint of that sulfur lager taste, but maybe the aroma had something to do with that. The dominating taste is a corn sweetness, but there is a touch more hops in here than a typical macro to help balance out the sweetness.

Simpler Times leaves a sweet coating in your mouth that makes you want to rinse away with another drink from it which seems to only make matters worse. This situation is best avoided by drinking the beer fast.

Overall not bad for the price...definitely would pick this over most macros, but far from the top of my list. Drink this one cold and fast...just had my last sip after it has warmed a bit and it is definitely better cold.

I'm thinking this one could have gone a couple more gravity points lower before being sent out, b

Looks like piss. Yellow. Corn colored.

Smells like cheap beer.

The head was nice to start but faded prematurely.

Tastes like it smells, not very good. A high level of adjunks give the beer an un-barley like

The mouthfeel is that of water.

Drinkability on the other hand is outstanding. I buy several six-packs at a time, every time I am even near a Trader Joe's because it is the cheapest pisswaterbeer around and the can looks cooler than a Budwiser or Cooers or (etc.).

A: Pours a crystal clear medium yellow in color with heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and some faint straw yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy white head that quickly reduces to a medium to large patch of thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of grainy malts with light to moderate amounts of corn adjuncts. Hints of light fruits (apple) and grassy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of slightly sweet grainy malts and corn adjuncts with light to moderate flavors of light fruits (apple and pear). That is followed by light amounts of grassy hops which imparts a light amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp but slightly thin/watery.

O: This is not a bad AAL but it is certainly not a standout beer in any way... Compared to other AALs, this beer is better of price and very similar on flavor/aroma. Not a bitter as some of the bigger name brands in the style, slightly sweet. Easy to drink but not interesting enough for me to have more than one.

Nice gold color, decent head.
Smells like cheap American macrobrew, but fortunately tastes better than it smells.
Sweet malt with a hint of citrus and grass.
Overall, decent for the price and surpassed my low expectations. No one would confuse this for good craft beer, but not bad for cheap easy summer drinking.

Straw yellow, with a nice white head that dissipates into attractive spider-web lace.

Nose is corny, adjunct, malted barley or rice, really pretty typical.

Taste is super-sweet, even syrupy. Hop presence is practically null. To it's credit, this has a much fuller flavor profile and heavier body than macro lagers, but I'd still avoid this one again. A nice deal, though, at $3.99/6pk at Trader Joe's.

A can of Simpler Times Lager. It seems to me that simpler times only occur in memories. Lets see if this lager lodges itself into my memory. The beer pours a yellow-golden color with an inch of foam. Standard grainy malt in the aroma, the same on the palate. The adjunct is noticeable through the center. It finishes with the a little bitterness.

If I were to do a blind taste testing of beers from this category, I don't think I would be able to tell many of them apart, including this one. Not that memorable.
