Appearance - Medium gold with hints of red. Clear and bubbly. Short cream colored head; not persistent. I'd like to see a little more amber from my swiss-style amber.

Smell - Light. A little caramel malts, breadiness, hint of citrusy hops.

Taste - Sickly sweet pale to medium roasted malts. Almost like a light syrup. Might be a little citrus in the finish, but overwhelmed by the syrupy sweetness. A little watery, too. This might be my least favorite non-macro beer I've tried.

Mouthfeel - Light, watery.

Overall - Minhas has a nice tour and I'm glad they saved the Monroe, Wisconsin brewery, but this beer is pretty poor.

Part of an 8 pack Sampler, this being the other beer that's 'decent' along with Billy Bock.

I know that this is a cheap beer so the expectations are low going in, but the mouth doesn't detect price so long as everyone rating these beers remembers that!

Appearance: It's more of a dirty, hazy copper color than the ambers I'm used to seeing. It pours an ivory head that vanishes into a slick that does remain throughout the entire drink. Lacing is present throughout.

Smell: more sweet brown sugar smell with malty hints.

Taste: Decent, but again, overly sweet and the actually taste that's there is non-inspiring nor lasting long enough to savor no matter how hard I tried.

Mouth: It's medium-light liquid, but also thin for an amber ale. Compared to my Red Ale benchmark, this scores low. Side-by-side, there's just nothing there! For Minhas, its good, compared to most others... not so much.

Drink. Again, because of its low taste and lack of body, this beer is another watery-type beer, it unfortunately doesn't deliver anything the label states, but is the second best beer of the 8 pack sampler and could actually be given to friends and family without complete shame ensuing upon the server.

12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Pours a golden amber color, about a finger or two of sea foam like head rises with some stickage on the glass. Bread crust and a faint peppery / mild citric hoppiness in the aroma. Slick crispness with a slightly creamy medium body. Tea like hoppiness meets a cracker-like maltiness, a little caramel in the back. Mild carbonic tartness middle to end, finishes dry with a semi-clean after taste.

Very run of the mill ... middle of the road ... mediocre. Drinkablitly is questionable.

From a variety pack from a tour of the Minhas Brewery.
Poured into shaker pint glass. Slightly cloudy glowing golden orange, dark honey color with a single finger off-white head that fades quickly into a few-mm thick cap of foam.
Smell is that good old Minhas bouquet of corn and sickly sweetness, although there is an encouraging smell of yeast (nice to be able to detect an actual beer ingredient). No hops to be found.
Taste...isn't horrible. It's the best Minhas brew so far, although that's not saying much. There is some actual beer flavor, although it's still mostly muscled out by that sickly sweet corn-water flavor.
Mouthfeel is relatively thin, but has a bit of body.
Overall, this isn't awful. It's not good though. Might be able to finish this one.

A Minhas product in my fridge?!!! This was left by a well-meaning friend on St. Paddy's Day, when the stores were sold out of Guinness, apparently...

This beer pours a slightly hazy medium golden brown, with a few fingers of foamy, puffy white head, that leaves a bit of lacing as it recedes. It smells of very sweet malt, and candy floss sugar, with a sour tint. The taste is more of the sweet malt, but with a metallic edge that masks any possible hops perception. Carbonation is moderate, the body decently solid, and the finish is off-dry and a little skunky. It looks like a real beer, but only goes down and levels off from there, nothing special.

The 3rd and final beer of my Minhas morning, and after the first 2 my expectations were low. Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has an amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is disgusting, plastics, cough syrup, boiled veggies, blech. Feels light and yucky in the mouth and overall strike 3 for Minhas, this is the worst of the 3.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint. 5.5% ABV, no date.

A - Poured with a little gusto, this Swiss has a nice but short-lived off-white head. Decent fingers of lace from the two-finger head linger above the clear and well-carbonated light orange-amber beer.

S - Faint toasted amber malts make up most of the nose with a mild bread backbone and light corn. A lack of hops is noticeable in the aroma. Not offensive but not inviting.

T - A touch of lightly grassy hops blends poorly with a rice and corn flavored husky toasted amber malt flavor. The flavor of this beer isn't overly offensive, instead it just subtly annoys with a mild bad quality.

M - Robust carbonation gives this amber a light feeling body with a weak finish. The crispness is a decent factor to it though.

D - Sadly the story behind this beer is much more interesting than the beer itself. Once again, Minhas disappoints with something sub-par.

Poured from a bottle to a glass cold

A - cloudy dark tan brew with 2 fingers of foam, fair amount of carbonation

S - light sweet smelling hops with strong smelling malt

T - Medium body with a noticeable malt aftertaste but wasn't overpowering, couldn't pick out much of a hop flavor

M - medium bodied but pretty smooth going down

D - I thought this was a pretty drinkable brew, I never heard of Minhas Brewing till I picked up a sampler pack at my local MGM. I felt that it wasn't a strong brew, too much hops or malts or wheat sort of thing. I hope the rest of the pack is just as tasty!

Dark amber color with a rim of foam and light lacing. Small bubbles of prickle floating to the surface. Neutral nose seems to be mostly malt with perhaps a little bit of a fruit or floral sensation that is very understated. Gentle attack and smooth flavor. Tastes of creamy malt in the flavor with the slightest tweak of hops towards the finish. A little hops in the aftertaste before giving way to a sweet caramel or chocolate flavor. The caramel/chocolate isn't their every sip, but shows up occassionally if you "sip it right." I draw the beer along the roof of my mouth twice before swallowing and there it is. These notes should be brought to the foreground and this beer would be mighty tasty. Overall its just okay. I don't know that I have many "swiss style ambers" to compare it with though.

So I will say I didn't really enjoy this brew.
A slight, slight amber hue, but its mostly copper with zero head and zero lacing.
Smell is almost non-existent, maybe a touch of dry malt and candy sugar.
Taste has a bit more life, but there is a slight metallicy taste on the backend that doesn't leave.
Mouthfeel is way too weak for an amber but suprisingly there is notable carbonation here.
Drinkability is something that I would have chugged in college.

The first beer out of my Minhas sampler, the "Swiss style Amber", pours a
finger of rapidly collapsing foam over an amber colored brew. The nose
a little funky, with notes of caramel. Carbonation- moderate and steady.
The flavor is mildly toasty malts up front, a bit of grass after. Mouthfeel is
crisp, clean, thin, and a little dry, surprising given the nose. A little of that
grass and some grain in the aftertaste. Not bad, but not really distinctive
either.

Served in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.

I was unaware the Swiss had created a distinct style of amber. Regardless, it pours a clear bronze topped by a half-finger of white foam. The nose comprises toffee, light milk chocolate, and some light flowers. The taste holds notes of orange peel, caramel, flowers, wheat, and light mandarin orange syrup. Things do not seem to meld quite right, leaving me with a stale, old aftertaste. The body is a light medium, with a light carbonation and a slightly watery feel. Overall, an okay brew, nothing I would ever really look for again, but I wouldn't necessarily cringe were it offered to me.

Appearance -- Pours an orange/amber with golden highlights and a slim, sudsy white head. Almost no head retention.

Smell -- Not much of anything going on here aside from honey malts, some fruity esters, lemon, pepper, and a dab of floral hops.

Taste -- Just as the nose, lots of toasted and honey malt, fruity esters, faint Noble hops.

Mouthfeel -- Medium-bodied with ample prickly carbonation. A bit syrupy.

Drinkability -- Sweet, malty, syrupy, lacking hops. Not especially good. I won't recommend.
