Poured from 33-cl bottle into a clear glass mug. Pretty deep blackish-brown color, with a ruby highlight or two. Aromas and flavors of dark roasted malt, espresso bean, and dark cocoa, with a hint of tart black cherry. The mouthfeel is lighter than one might expect from a stout. Good carbonation, slightly but not overly sweet, with some roasty bitterness and a touch of dark fruit on the finish. This turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise, as my expectations of this brewery were not high. Although the chocolate seems to have faded a bit, it is still very tasty and very drinkable. Much better at slightly above fridge temperature.

L: deep dark brown, bright around the edges blanketed by 2" of light tan foam with a very fine bead. Retention is fair

S: grainy chocolate smell with some biscuit, and a trace of coffee.

T: Restrained chocolate flavors lead to a drying, grainy slightly astringent finish.

F: very creamy with a medium full body and medium carbonation.

O: well balanced but is middle of the road and lacks excitement

This was, uh, an adventure. I'll pre-face this by stating that this beer seems to promulgate a difference between the taste of quality, and enjoying the taste of something. It tasted like the cheapest of lagers mixed with a backwash of instant coffee and a very strong aftertaste of the bitterest of chocolates. Thankfully for it, I love instant coffee and dark chocolate, so, I reveled in the overall experience. Still, I wouldn't recommend it to most. I'm surprised Minhas is such a large brand.

Honestly didn't know what to expect..but this beer is very drinkable. For the price i paid i actually enjoyed it. Kinda light bodied for a stout, but the cocoa taste isnt overwhelming. Enjoying it on a 81 degree april day makes it even better

Appearance: Pours nearly black, with little suds and no lace.

Aroma: Cocoa, in a good way.

Taste: More cocoa up front, with some burnt malts near the finish. This is a decent and very drinkable beer that’s not too chocolatey to be as gimmicky as it sounds. Solid cocoa stout that I’d gladly drink again.

Pours dark brown with only a little light shining through when held up to a light. Fairly thick head that receded rapidly. Very light aroma of chocolate and soy. Taste is soy sauce and cocoa powder. Very light in the feel and over carbonated for a stout in my opinion. Not a fan.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Chocolate and a light roast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with cocoa and roast. Not bad for a stout, but overall enjoyable to drink.

Another random bottle from my son's Secret Santa mixed six-pack. He doesn't drink beer. Lucky me.
Appearance - dark. DARK. Pours almost black and held to the light I can't see any color through it at all. Did I mention that it's dark? Nice dark nougat-y head that dissipated to just a ring in a few minutes time.
Aroma is indicative of a dark beer but not chocolaty or roasty in particular.
Taste is a bit more dry and roasted than I was expecting. I've had several beers with cocoa nibs or cocoa powder and I don't get any of that in this. There's a bit of a tingle at the tip of my tongue from the carbonation but the flavor notes are mostly evident in the palette versus the taste buds. Not overly sweet, not overly bitter (bottle says 66 IBU). Given the low impact of the ingredients that are supposed to punch this up but don't, I'm guessing it's a bit of old stock, which would be consistent with the other beers I've sampled from this six pack. For all I know, the Secret Santa received these last Christmas and cleaned out the fridge for this year.
Mouthfeel is pretty decent, maybe just the slightest bit of a sour quality behind the carbonation. Again, age.
Overall - after reading the other reviews and overall score on this product I wasn't honestly expecting much and I have to agree that my bottle is not consistent with the taste of a chocolate bunny - not chocolatey, no lactose quality to it. It is a pleasant enough and easy-drinking dark beer.

Had as Boatswain Chocolate Stout. Comes out of the bottle a beautiful warm sable with a very thick and rather persistent tan head. Aroma has roast malt, chocolate and coffee notes with a hint of caramel. Smoky flavor builds on a roast malt core with coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and caramel plus a hint of horehound. Smooth, firm texture is quite fizzy and lively. Boatswain or bunny, it’s a good choice.

Just horrible. Had this strange flavor that I couldn't put my finger on but tasted like someone out their dirty finger in it. Sounded good but thoroughly disappointed!

11.2oz bottle, Julian date of 9/10/15. Pours brown with a large sized tan head which quickly recedes to a thin strip. Smells of roasted malt and faint chocolate; weak intensity. Tastes of cherry, vanilla, roasted malt, and some faint chocolate. Very thin body with above average carbonation. Overall, it doesn't fit the style at all and has a weak chocolate flavor contrary to its name. Not recommended.

Price Paid : 50 cents (broken/clearance bucket)
Poured into a snifter, bottle rested on ice cubes for half an hour.

It pours a dark black chocolate color, no head. 100% opaque.

Aroma is of dark cocoa, a hint of fig, krackle bar. Not a bad smell but difficult to detect.

Flavor is of chocolate, faint coffee bean, torched peanuts, and tangy, sweaty prunes. I'm not detecting too many off flavors, but then again, this is literally brain-freezing ice cold. (As it warms, I get a rush of chocolate melted to tin, and a lot of rotten/off flavors. So yes, chilling it out like a bad lager does the trick)

Feels light for the style, more like a porter but has the stout-like dryness on the finish and throughout the body.

Overall impressions : This wasn't the drain pour I was expecting it to be. As it warms up it starts to lose its beauty face and flaws start to peek through. Temperature sensitive, much like Rolling Rock or Corona. Must drink ice cold or risk potential death.
