Pours a half finger of fine tan head over a clear dark amber liquid. Smells lemon, biscuit, light-colored caramel, iron, and a mild tannic astringency. Tastes dry malty caramel with some chocolate, modest chalky hop bitter, mild hop flavor. Malt sweet is stronger than I'd expect and over-powers the hops. Hop flavor is not particularly american citrusy. It's fruity lemony, but not pithy. Hop bitter is drying with minor grassy notes. It's a decent beer and I will happily finish the bottle, it's just not to style. Too chewy for the style and has a bit of astringency in the finish.
