A: Clear, golden colour, thin frothy, white head, leaves decent lacing, good head retention;

S: Sweet, but with a pungent alcohol smell in it, little yeast;

T: Almost similar to the smell, sweetness is minimal, the alcohol comes through quite strong, a little bit of a yeasty and bready flavour in the aftertaste together with a slightly metallic component;

M: Medium bodied, good level of carbonation, thick mouthfeel;

O: Alright for a cheaper Tripel, but pretty unbalanced in the taste, the alcohol comes through pretty strong, I guess the price is a +1 in the points.

Bottle from a Belgian supermarket. This should be the competitor of the Leffe 9.
Look: Poured clear golden color with a small white head
Smell: fruits (banana, apple), caramel malts, grain and alcohol
Taste: Banana, apple, sweet malts, some sugar, wood and alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Mild carbonation, medium body.
Overall: Good beer, but not that exciting

A-Pours a clear golden color w/off-white head. Lacks retention and frothiness, but this is still a nice-looking brew.

S-Candy sugar, spice, coriander, malt, apple, faint bit of alcohol.

T-Sweet malt, dough, red apple, warm spicy alcohol, and a fair amount of bitterness that emerges strongly in the finish.

M-Medium-bodied and full-flavored, carbonation is on lighter side.

D-Pleasant and smooth, easy to drink, and tasty. Not the best example of the style, but a good economical alternative.

Beer bottle (25cl.), tasted in 2008 (review n°650)

Appearance : golden blond color clear and bright. White foam head.
Smell : malted grain, with a dominant spicy and a hint of yeast.
Taste and mouthfeel : soft attack, although covering the palate. Rich malt flavor with a hint of spices (coriander), which gives it great body, noticeable in terms of alcohol. Dominates the fruity (apples, pears), slight bitterness in the finish.
Drinkability : a quite good beer in the style Triple.
