650 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. First time I've seen this offering from this new brewery. LCBO purchase for $8.45 CDN. Listed at 23 IBU's.

Appearance - Mildly hazy dark honey brown brew. Lots of bubbles and a small half finger of white head rests on top and fizzles out in under a minute.

Smell - A subtle earthy metallic note initially that gives way to cinnamon, nutmeg and spice with a fruity backdrop, plums figs and raisins figure prominently. Kind of like a rum soaked raisin fruitcake, with hints of treacle and molasses backing things up for extra complexity.

Taste - Some graininess initially with some cinnamon and nutmeg going on. Indication of fruits although it doesn't really show. Molasses and treacle are there but again subtle. Nice balancing act with the flavors as nothing really slams into you. That is both a good and bad thing as the balance is nice, but wish the intensity was just a bit higher. Some sweetness but certainly not too sweet.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation and slightly dry and spicy (no surprise) finish.

Overall - It's been a while since I've had a winter warmer, but this fits the style to a T, Makes me think of all things Christmas and yet isn't overpowering or overly spiced. Well worth a try if this is your bag.

A clear, tawny brown pour with a slightly off white head of one and a half fingers that recedes into a very thin white cap, this beer looks fairly clean and nice in the glass

Aroma is spicy and malty. Caramel malt, cinnamon, allspice, cardamom, and nutmeg. Spicy and malty? What more do you want from a winter warmer? It’s classic and straight up appetizing. No overbearing dark spices and hard licorice here, as is found in some other winter warmers. Hopefully that holds up on the taste.

Tiny sips with lots of air gives concentrated spicy flavours. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Maybe a hint of allspice, but it’s hard to tell. There are subtle spicey flavours here is the point. Nice toasty caramel malt and molasses are present on the sweet flavours. Very gentle for the molasses. Low on fruit flavour, but there is some present. Other winter wamers might have deep licorice, honeyed or sugared figs and raisins. The fruits on this are less heavy, mostly just straight up raisin, and maybe dried citrus peel.

Light-medium bodied, medium carbonation and small bubbles give it an easy and crisp taste. Mildly slick body with a moderately dry finish that leaves all those pleasant spices on the tongue. A tad grainy in the background.

Winter warmers can come in a variety of styles, this one dials back some of the dark and deep fruit flavours in favour of some nice peppery spice and sweet malts, without going too sweet. The alcohol is not noticeable at all, which can be a plus or minus depending on the flavour profiles you like in a warmer. It’s a incredibly pleasant, if you don’t like overspiced warmers, ones with too much licorice or root spices, this is for you. This is also an excellent, excellent first beer to try if you’re looking to try this style. Great entry into the winter warmer profile. Really pleasant and easy drinking offering from Canada!

A good looking pour, moderate head over a coppery coloured beer. No real lace to speak of. Pretty comfortable drinking across the board. Appetizing nose full of malt, caramel, and enough spice to be interesting without being overpowering. Same to taste - grain, fruit, caramel, spice. A pleasant example of a winter warmer.
