Canned 11/10/22 (1 month ago)

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) medium to pale orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 7.

Aroma: Strong aromas of orange citrus but followed by a strong tropical pineapple and mango aroma. Some sweet green mango underneath.

Flavor: Strong flavors of floral citrus ,tropical pineapple and mango. Very floral with a sweet pineapple and mango sweetness with juiciness.

Feel: Heavier-bodied, moderate carbonation. Finishes with a floral bite.

Compared to Phase 3 DDH Double Pixel Density 12/2022: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More tropical pineapple, mango, and flower. Less orange citrus, and OJ. Heavier and sweeter.

Overall: A heavy and imperial NEIPA that showcases the Citra well with a floral bite. Definitely imperial and sweeter but the floral bite balances nicely to make it somewhat drinkable at 8.6%. A bit too floral, but surely somewhat enjoyable. (Rating: 3.91)

1 PINT can
Served in a snifter

This beer pours yellow and turbid. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves little lacing.

The smell is light citrus and tropical fruit. Hints of melon.

The taste is tropical fruit and melon. Hints of citrus in the finish.

Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel

Standard hazy IPA. Nothing to set it apart from the billions and billions of beers in this style.

16 oz. can. Pours cloudy orange. Big bubbles in the foam, but it retains well. Smells of orange hops with an ample oat backdrop. Makes it smell like orange and sweet cream. Tastes of orange with some light acidic fruit. Chewy oats behind it make it taste a little creamy, but not quite the orange cream I got out of the nose. Earthy dank notes in the back end. Medium heavy, but not sweet and drinks easily. Not quite as abrasive as other hazies. I like it.

I'm a man of few words! I think most of us can agree that Tree House make the very best New England IPA's. This falls short. It doesn't smell as beautiful...there's something funky going on here! And the taste follows the nose...it's a New England IPA but it's not as lovely, balanced, smooth, crushable, floral, fruity as Tree House beers, there is something off putting here in the taste, like it didn't kill everything I dislike about west coast IPA's or something! I can't describe it, it just doesn't wow me because there is too much of a funky bitterness still there or something! I think mothman (review below) liked what I didn't like about it. Maybe our combined reviews can give you an idea of what to expect from this.

This is what that Blackstack/Junkyard collab "Promise Ring" was meant to be! This tastes very similar, yet entirely different because the notes aren't hidden behind a wall of sugar. The faint backbone of sweetness here is perfect. This IPA is SLIGHTLY on the sweet side. This is coming from someone with practically zero tolerance for sweetened beverages, so when I say this ale is slightly sweet, I mean SLIGHTLY sweet. It's not one of those sickly-saccharine IPAs that are somewhat on the scene now. It has that element, but with much more MODISTY, in such a greater balance, just barely there as a firm backbone to assist the high ABV of this badboy.
Soft, but in a bright and firm way, not a mushy way. The softness matches the carbonation perfectly, this element is really something to experience.
I've never given a 5-star smell before. But this badboy has done it! God damn. Words cannot describe.
Very COOL notes.... you know what I mean, some of these hazies are hot, some are cool, some are in between.... this is a COOL hazy, man.
A cool hazy, soft yet bright swallow, the most tasteful HINT of a sweet backbone, and a smell to amaze anybody. My favorite from Modist second to Double False Pattern.

16oz can. Poured out a very cloudy, golden orange color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of citrus, pineapple, grapefruit, mango and toasted caramel. Sweet tropical fruits with toasted caramel sweetness.

This is a well executed beer IMO. Tropical citrus, pineapple, and mango. It’s dry yet not too dry. It’s soft yet not too soft. It’s great expect the price point is a little high.

On tap. White head with lace. Hazy burnt sunset orange.

Honeydew and muskmelon. This DDH dipa has some interesting flavors going on but it’s tasty. Pineapple and mango. Tropical and juicy. Some hop bitterness. Not soft like some of them. Really solid.
