Double Dreamyard is our award-winning exceptionally-rated juicy, hazy IPA that’s made entirely from oats and wheat and heavily hopped with Citra and Denali but, like, doubled. We took Dreamyard and overloaded it with everything: extra oats, extra wheat, extra Citra, extra Denali, and pumped up the ABV to 8.5%. The end result is a crazy smooth juicy whale of a DIPA that’s, like, really good.

Aroma is funky hops and kind of musty. The flavor is fruit, grains/malts, tropical fruit and a mildly sweet/slightly oily/not as funky/more citrus hopfinish.

The look is light orange/gold murky honey. There is a light white medium-size lacy foamy firmament. The smell is bready orange juice. Grapefruit and pineapple. Slight white grape. The taste is yeasty tropical juice, primarily mango and grapefruit. Slightly bitter. There are some Iemon and grass flavors. The mouthfeel is smooth, juicy, full, and lightly carbonated. Overall, this is a good DDH NEIIPA.

Canned 7/8/22 (approx. 2 weeks ago)

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely hazy (10-20% clarity), medium orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 6-7. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong orange citrus aromas. This is followed by unripened pineapple and citrus rind. Citrus flower and a herbal componenet. Some faint pine and berries underneath. (4.25)

Flavor: Strong flavors of orange citrus, citrus rind, green citrus. A strong herbal component that lingers off the end and has a flowery note. A lot of citrus rind and herbs. (3.75)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Slightly dry and clean for the ABV. (4.00)

Compared to Falling Knife Raging Demon 8/21/22: Pours a similar appearance. More citrus rind, green and herbal notes. Less pineapple and tropical.

Overall: An okay double IPA here. Actually, not really a NEIPA. More AIPA. Nice orange citrus and citrus rind flavors. Also a strong herbal and pine component that doesn't really sit that well with me. I wasn't really a fan of the original Dreamyard, and I don't think doubling the recipe did much for it. Lots of citrus rind and green herbs. Probably from the Sultana. A bit too much for my preference. For an AIPA, I suppose it's alright. (Rating: 3.91)

A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a hazy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of tropical fruits. Taste is pineapple, oranges, a solid malt backbone, moderate bitterness. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is a quality beer.

I want to get to the point of this brew. Fantastic tropical nose and and even better pineapple tropical big taste. Almost creamy feel is nice. This is a good beer here. Personally recommend if you can find it. I may be under rating this beer if anything.

Could easily be packaged in a can from Other Half and I would be none the wiser. Admittedly I don’t think Minneapolis is putting out as much fire as St. Paul is right now, but I’d say Modist really has become the best in the game on this side of the river.
