For some reason I'd never popped into this place, although I'd been up and down Battleground Ave. zillions of times. I Super-glad I walked into today. It was news to me that Stone and Founders finally made it to North Carolina, so I picked up an Arrogant Bastard and 3 different Founders 4 packs to celebrate. Breakfast Stout in da mu-fuggin' South!!!

Ahem....so, GSO Wine Warehouse has plenty of other great stuff. They were featuring Dogfish Head and Weyerbacher's respective pumpkin ales, while I also found Gulden Draak, Achel, New Holland, a few unusual German things I'd never seen before, a limited Terrapin beer, Victory here and there, the usual Avery stuff (which is to say "Avery rules"), the local Natty Greene's bottles, and quite a few other fine selections. It seems like the beer is an afterthought, stuck in the back and comprising about 10% of their total floor space, but they make up for it in quality. The buyer apparently knows what's good (except for the Coors stuff I saw gathering dust at the bottom of the shelf).

Service was good. I didn't ask any questions, but the guy was super cool in providing dividers for my boxes and had some comments on some of the beers as he was ringing me up ("this is good" and "they make some great beer"--that sorta thing). Even offered to carry my boxes out, so all in all a very nice trip. I was hoping some of the wine geeks to my right would take notice of some of the weird-ass beers I was buying, but then again I didn't take notice of the wines they were tasting, so no fights broke out but no one was enlightened either. :)

Will I go back? Hell yeah. Stone and Founders in N.C., it's too good to be true...

Stopped in here on a recent trip to Greensboro to grab a few brews. Upon walking in I was greeted by the two staff in the store. I walked back into the beer section and started browsing. While the beer selection was not a large as some stores I've been to, they made it for it with quality of brews. Picked up a few things and hung around and chatted with the staff after checking out. Very nice people who know a thing or two about beer. It is worth it to swing by and check them out if you are in the area.

I actually liked this place better the total wine if I am being honest. It just seemed to work alot better for me. Seemed to have a much more defined selection as there was less to work with. Managed to find a four pack of backwoods bastard as well as a nice john john dead guy. Some decent imports as well. Again not the best selection in the world but I am really not complaining about it at all. Staff was very friendly and I was glad to give them my business because of it. I thought it would be more of a wine store, but they redeemed themselves nicely. A good stop that I was glad I made. Battleground is one packed street!

Stopped here when in the area. The beer selection is tucked in a small corner in the back left of the store. All selections are room temperature. Honestly, I was expecting a bit more when reading the other reviews. Most everything I saw I have seen at other places in the area. The only 2 notable beers that I did see was Terrapin's Limited Release #2 - RoggenRauchbier still on the shelf (1 bottle) and some J.W. Lees - Vintage 1999. The latter was $8.99 per 12 oz bottle, so I passed, but nevertheless they carried it. I don't even think City Bev in Winston has that vintage. There was one lady working at the time and she was helping another customer with some wine choices so I can't say how knowledgeable she was about the beer or not. Not a bad place to stop, but I don't think it deserves an A rating either.

I recently stopped into this location. It's a small store compared to Total Wine but with a nice quiet atmosphere. I must say the staff was very friendly and helpful. They don't have a tremendous selection of individual beers, but I found a few obscure ones I hadn't been able to find at any other store in the area. One thing I would point out is that perhaps business might suffer because of a restaurant that blocks its view from the street. Overall a it is nice, quaint little store and if you are near by I would recommend stopping in! I certainly plan on giving them more of my business!

I stopped by this place on the way to the hotel one day after work. The store is located in a shopping center and is pretty easy to find. As you can tell from the name, most of the stock in dedicated to wine. In the back of the store is where the beer selection is kept. They carried pretty much the same usual stuff for North Carolina; they also carried the local town bottle beer from Natty Greens Brewing Company. They guy working was really nice and friendly. If in the area stop by and see what they have.

I see this place all the time but haven't really had the time to go until today. The beer is kept in a back corner, mostly unrefrigerated, but probably protected from the light coming in the windows. However, like Earth Fare I saw plenty of Sam Smith's Winter Warmer, as well as some Flying Dog's Garde Dog. Wasn't that their summer seasonal for 2007? I haven't tasted anything yet, so I won't know for sure for another few hours.

The service was great. The guy behind the counter was very polite and told me to feel free to mix and match the six packs. He commented on the Harpoon Weizenbock, but didn't really elaborate. I'm sure if he even drank the stuff he has a decent foundation in beer.

The selection was great. A surprising amount of American macro and the like mixed in, but wow there's stuff I've only read about, including stuff from DFH, Hercules DIPA, Highland's Mocha Stout, Rodenbach, SkullSplitter...too many to name. I regretted not going there with a bigger budget, I probably could've spent $50 or more on singles and 750ml bottles. I did find Schneider's Hopfen Weizen, something I haven't seen anywhere else in Greensboro. I will definitely be going back to this place again and again.

Prices seemed a little high, but then again most of the good shit is pricier. A bit of a markup from Total Wine from the prices on the six/four packs, but as the individual bottles weren't priced it's hard to say. Three bottles cost me about 11 bucks.

I found this place crusing on BA and am glad I found it. This place is primarily a wine shop(hence the name) but they have a good selection of beer in the back. Right away you see the decent selection of Belgium stuff right up front. Duvel, Chimay and others line the front selection. Off in the corner you have more micros and hard to find stuff. The guy who helped me was nice; he also was helpful when I asked about a special order. He took my order (Brooklyn Brewery Local #1) and said next time he talked to the distributor he would see what he could do. The other thing that I thought was cool was the ability to mix and match a 6 pack.

It was a little pricey but overall a good experience, and since it is near my house I will be making a return trip soon.

This is a little known place in Greensboro with a great wine selection and a somewhat small beer section in the back of the store.

The beer selection is limited than it used to be, but the selection is reasonable and if there is something you don't see they are very good and reliable at ordering it for you if it is available.

I used to get all my limited releases from here, but after one of the employees left last year the store hasn't really been the same since then. Unfortuantely they really don't have anyone left to really keep up with all the new and limited beer releases.

I was in Greensboro for the day so I stopped into GSO to see if I could find anything different.

GSO doesn't have a large selection of beer but they do have some very good ones; especially Belgians. They had Orval, Chimay, Rodenbach and St Bernardus. I picked up an Achel and a Maredsous Tripel. They also have some good American beers including Dogfish Head, Rogue and Bells but nothing that's hard to find.

GSO is a nice store with a small to moderate selection if high quality beer. It's not a one stop shop but it's definitely worth a visit.

Discovered this place through BA nclifestyle. Went for a tasting of Oktoberfest beers and left with 14 bottles. They have Urthel, New Belgium, and rare Bell's products that you can't find anywhere else in Greensboro. There were beers that I'd never heard of, even. I got a discount on the beer because of the tasting and the owner gave me two of my 14 bottles for free; just because. You can tell they love great beer and want others to experience it as well. Very friendly owners that if you asked, I'm sure would try to get any beer you were after.

Have visited this location often and decided to finally give a review based on all experiences. The staff are always helpful and ready to assist in any decision making processes and problems. The new store is much brighter than the old store but, on my experiences, is a little harder to access due to traffic problems and light sequences. They periodically and often increase their beer selections to rival any store in town. Besides City in Winston, this in certainly one of the best places in the Triad area. Certainly worth a shot if ever in N Greensboro. Prices do seem a bit high compared to prices in Charlotte or Boone, but the selection is certainly worthy. I have often requested beers that are out of stock and they have ordered them for me. Score!

A very nice place, and it looks like they have recently done a bit of reorganizing. They have a nice selection of beer in the back of the store divided among seasonals, micros, and imports including some vintage selections marked by year, going back to '99. There is also a small collection of various glassare. The service is exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. I really like the way that the build-your-own six packs are not marked up by price if you want to purchase just a single bottle, it is simply priced by dividing the total pack price by the number of bottles in the pack allowing you to sample however many you choose without paying more for it and making it quite reasonable. Highly recommended.

stopped in here while in town. lotsa wine, but in a small corner in the back is the beer stash. good selection of brews with about a quarter of them being unavailable back at home. looks like they're starting to get some belgians and higher alcohol brews in slowly. i picked up some duchesse and anderson valley brews along with a bottle of ephemere apple to try. there was some allagash, rogue, sa chocolate bock, flying dog, st. bernardus, among others. the girl at the counter helped me with my question telling me i could break apart the six and four packs for singles. the price was 1/6 or 1/4 the pack price. prices weren't too shabby. overall, a pretty good stop for some good beer in greensboro.

This is a long overdue beerfly for my current favorite beer store in Greensboro. The most important quality of a store that I look for is a fresh product. While other local stores have let me down multiple times, this place has still been flawless. I've only been to the new location a few times now, but I'm more than confident in purchasing from here.

In addition to being fresher than other local stores, the selection is on par if not better than all other stores in the area. I haven't seen Brooklyn's seasonal or St. Bernardus witbier anywhere else in Gboro. I'd list the rest of the unique (for the area) selections available, but you'd be reading for a while. Rogue, Flying Dog, Highland, Radish, Dogfish, etc. also make an appearance.

The quality of service is also way above average for the area. Some employees are more than capable of discussing what is distributed in the area and why certain things aren't, in addition to giving their personal input on what beers they like. If I also ever needed assistance with selecting a bottle of wine, I would go nowhere else.

While there are sources for beer that are much closer to me, I try to plan trips to GSO as often as possible to stock up on fresh product while enjoying the friendly, attentive service. I look forward to seeing what the store can do with a larger selection if some possible law changes take place. I encourage anyone in the Greensboro area to start shopping here—exclusively.

They have moved to a new location. Much brighter, no rain and the staff even seems more helpful and friendly. The darkness was probably better for the beer, but the lighting is definitely better for the appearance of the store.

Quality is probably better as a result, but the selection appears to be the same.

The Wine Warehouse has an odd location for entry and exit. I chose the back lot and could not make a left, so I cut the block. If you come in the front you also will be stuck making a right, so plan ahead.

The Wine Warehouse was a dark and cool place, a great place for storing beer. Unfortunately they have some issues with a leaky roof and the weather inside was, shall we say, damp. The beer selection was good and this was the first place in NC I had ever seen Rogue in growlers. (I later found it at Tobacco USA across town as well). The quality appeared good with no dust on the bottles, the prices might have been just a smidge high.

The staff asked me a few times if I needed assistance. Good service. I did not check out the homebrewing supplies, I suppose I overlooked them due to the weather.

A stop on the Greensboro Beer Run.

The beer wall, while small in comparison to the wine selection, is very impressive. They have most of their stock stored at room temperature, and the beers that I've purchased seemed fresh.

There are a few things that I've seen here that we just don't get in NC stores further east. I've seen Dead Guy Growlers here, and they're most likely going to be one of the stores furthest east that will get all of Highland's bottled line-up.

The service here is very knowledgable. The beer and wine questions that I've had have been answered and the employees seem friendly.

They have a 'parking lot' sale once a year that I was informed of (thanks Loki!) and my wife and I happened to catch. We were able to pick up some Rogue Hazelnut Brown for 15 bucks a case, and they had 3 liters of Anchor Special Ale for 10 bucks each! Definately keep an eye out for this event.

As AKSmokedPorter mentioned this is a huge wine store that also sells beer. They have a great selection of local, micro, and craft brews for a North Carolina store. They also just recently added a homebrew section carring beer and wine homebrew supplies. They have a new manager (same owner who's a great guy and usually in the shop) who is helping to expand the beer selection and better organize the shop so it should just get better and better. Also the first sunday of June they have they're backyard sale. Come early (11 am) because people start lining up and getting their selection when the store can start selling at Noon due to blue laws. This year (2003) at their back yard sale they will have cases of Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Smuttymouth Hefeweizen, and Wynkoop Summer brew among other beers on sale for $10/case!

The only thing really holding this store back are NC ABV limits.
