appearance; crystal clear, golden hue, with a white head of loosly held together foam. Dissipates relatively quickly, leaving sporatic lacing at best.

smell; spicy herbal hops, with a lightly roasted, cracker-like malt. Just a hint of doughy sweetness but mostly the appropriate hops are perceived.

taste; mildly bitter hops, with some doughy malt in the finish. Pretty one dimensional but nicely balanced.

mouthfeel; loose and crisp, very refreshing with a light finish.

overall; nothing special but a nice refreshing drink.

App: Typically clear lager with thin head and strong bubbles. A little darker than other pilsners, but not so much as a pale ale.
Smell: Grainy and sweet, with a slight skunkiness that is common in many import lagers. Slight bready like yeast presence. Mild aroma of freshly cut grass. Nothing super exciting.
Taste: Well balanced flavors of both malt and hops with neither being overbearing or unpleasant. Normal, everyday pils that neither excites nor disappoints. Slight bitter skunky taste on the sides and back of tongue. Lingering bitterness. Very easy to drink.
Mouth: Heavily carbonated as most pilsners. Light and effervescent on the tongue. Lighter in terms of body.

Tasted on 20th August 2005, a 500ml bottle best by 26.05.06.

Appearence: poured as a pils would; crystal clear with a decent white head. Head lingered quite well.

Smell was a bit malty, maybe some fresh grass.
Tasted fairly sharp, not sweet and not complex. Mouthfeel was good.
All-in-all, a reasonable brew and I preferred it to Budvar. Not a beer style I would drink regularly

A: translucent apple juice color, more toward straw in the light; full eggshell head, quickly recedes to surface film
S: malt, paper, corn
T: per the nose, malt, paper, corn, maybe rice, lightly sweet;
M: light-medium-bodied, carbonated, slightly oily; dryish aftertaste
O: The carbonation makes it feel fresher than some of its peers, but it it's still just "not bad."

Pours a nice pale golden colour, white fluffy head that hangs around and leaves a delicate lace.

Aromas of weedy vegetation. Some barnyard / manure funkiness & sulfur. Some grain & malt also. Not that attractive. But.... there has been a recent forum discussion about aerating beer. After a good 5 minutes with some swirling, the noxiousness seems to fade...the malt & grain take over.

Flavours are more promising. Nice cereal-like grain & malt. Touch of sweetness, then some hop floral notes.

Finishes crisply, with good aftertastes. Still a hint of wild vegetation in there... may appeal to some.

This came in a classy and sophisticated green bottle.
The beer itself looks really nice too. It is a deep golden color with a creamy white head.
It is almost the same color as apple juice.

As far as the smell goes, Floral hops and grains come through. There is a slight skunk smell that cannot be ignored.

Sweet, malty back bone with a mild hop bitterness. However, there is a slight skunkyness in the taste that is off putting.

For a lager, this beer is full bodied. Thick, creamy and lightly carbonated. There is also an oily slickness to the mouthfeel.

Overall, this beer would be outstanding if it were not for the skunkyness.
The skunkyness was very slight, but it takes away from the enjoyment of the beer.

I would love to try this on tap.

pours a pretty gold color with an average head, has a decent amount of carbonation as well. has a strong skunk smell to it, with corn in the aromas as well. no hop or malt smell that really stands out. taste is average, another boring lager really, little body to it or unique taste. seems hard to make a lager stand out. mouthfeel is watery, its an average beer i suppose

Pours a perfectly clear bronzy gold with two fingers of fluffy white head that displays great retention and slowly receeds from the middle outwards, eventually creating what looks like a crown of head, leaving sheets of puffy lace.

Grassy hops with a bit of a herbal character to them and a light cracker-like malt is what composes the nose.

Grassy hops combine themselves with a pleasant citrus character that makes a quick appearance in the middle and receeds to a more pronounced grassy/herbal hop finish. Biscuity and cracker-like malts are detectable but faint, and seem to be there more for making sure the hops don't get too pronounced.

Mouthfeel is light and somewhat wet for the style. Easy to put down but not all that flavourful.

This seems like a decent Czech pilsner, but nothing out of the ordinary. Simple and refreshing with all of the usual going on. A decent intro into the style, but not a standout.

This beer had a really pleasant taste, but the bitterness really ruined it for me.
The appearance was clear and golden. It was nice and saturated.
I wouldn't buy a six pack.
Not skunky at all like some of the Czech var
I don't even see the word lager on this beer.

Pour from a bottle. Slightly darker-than-straw yellow color. About a finger of head, fairly long lasting. Lacing noted down the glass.

Smell is pleasant. Hoppy and sweet. Very nice.

Initial taste is slightly astringency. Subsequent sips become more pleasant. Fairly balanced hop and malt characteristics. Neutral mouthfeel, goes well with style.

Overall, not a bad beer, but nothing special either.

If you're expecting sweetness from its relatively-dark-for-a-pilsner color, you'd be mistaken. Tastes remarkably flat to me. Certainly catty and herbaceous but without that initial hit of sweetness from an Urquell. Body's a little sticky & heavy for me.

Certainly not my go-to.

Poured from an 11.2oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Clear gold in color, with a nice, bright white head of foam.
Aroma-Pilsner malt, faint grain
Taste-Pilsner malt, muted hop note more evident in the finish. A bit of a letdown for a Czech pilsener, seems more in the American pilsner type. If Saaz hops are in use here they don't make their presence known. Overall, quaffable on a hot day, but average at best.

Was really impressed by Budwar which I had a few days ago...

Good appearance and head level for a lager

Strong hoppy aroma, very impressive, a bit flowery like Budwar though with a bit more of a fruity and citrus kick.

For a lager, flavour is pretty good, though not as good as Budwar I don't think. Refreshing and flowery hops with sweet malt. Needs a bit more strength and hops to be great, though would consider buying again.

Feel is a bit thin and watery, prefer a bit more body or creaminess

Poured this 11.2 oz. bottle into a pilsner glass. Dated best by: 12/8/06. Label does not match the picture above.

Body was darker than most pilsners, a tan/golden clear body. Three fingers of head formed.

Smelled clean, grassy, mildly earthy. Pleasant.

Tasted nice with a zesty, mildly bitter hop zing. Refreshing.

Raspy, mouth-filling texture. Good representation.

Dark gold in colour with lots of carbonation. Grassy hop aroma with a touch of grainy malt. Upon drinking, more honey flavored malt flavors with a decent enough contribution of herbal and grassy hop notes. Medium bitterness. A basic Czech pils, which is still a pretty drinkable thing in my book.

Golden amber color with a thick off-white head with decent retention and leaving laces.
Aroma of grassy and floral hop and malt sweetness. No skunk, despite of the green bottle.
Flavor with notes of grassy and spicy hops, a bit of biscuit, mineral to metallic, bread and butter, and a bit of lime. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness.
Light towards medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Decent Bohemian Pilsner, balanced to the milder side, but not tasteless. Easier to drink.

A bold golden in colour, no head, just a firm white lace leaving a residue of head, actually kind of seem of a foam cemetary.

Smell hopish and fruity, a tiny bit of skunkyness just a shy bit though.

Taste hoppish, fruity with a lace of malt, a caramel flavour comes finish it
But, this beer gives me heartburns when I drink it, usually this happens with beers in high hops content.

very drinkable, I would like to have that beer in the summer not in January when its -50 outside.

As Pilsner Urquell is one of my favorites; I thought I would give this Czech beer a try. It has a brassy body, lots of carbonation and a big pure white head. The aroma and flavor is in line with a Bud or PBR, but a bit more upscale. The malts have more interesting layering and likewise the hop finish is more complex. If you are in the mood for something along the lines of a PBR, but with some more sophistication, this is a good option.

Appearance: 12oz bottle poured into Innis & Gunn flute. Golden straw colour with a finger-thick head. Decent amount of visible carbonation.

Smell: Aromas of hops, some spicy roasted malts, and a bit of skunk.

Taste: Roasty malt is first and foremost. Following is some bitterness from the hosp with a hint of citrus.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with plenty of bubbly carbonation. Nice and light.

Overall: Not the most interesting beer. Light, refreshing, a little weak in taste and aroma, though.

This poured a crystal golden color. Light aroma, some grassy hops. Has a clear, crisp flavor. The Czech saaz hops are bright and noticible, and it finishes clean and crisp. This is not a bad pils in the least—more like, ok. In the time it took from writing this review to posting it I forgot all about it, if that’s any indication of its staying power.
