Served on draft at Craft Conundrum in Charleston, SC.

My rating is based on spice beer, not Amber. The best spices beer I have had.

Spicy! As a self proclaimed spice addict (I have acquired several “awards” for eating spicy foods at various restaurants) this one hits the top of the charts in spiciness! I haven’t had Cave Dave, but based on reports, this has to be similar in spiciness certainly the most Spicy beer I have had.

I took a big whiff of this and got a little spice burn. Rare for a beer. There is supposed to be coffee in this one but I get none in the nose or flavor. Caramel malts with a hint of toffee.

This one is all about the spice. GD! That spiciness hits you up front and center. This is not for the week of heart. I read the other reviews and they must have had an old beer. This fresh draft is off the charts hot! I love it! Fairly well balanced as far as hops and malts go, but the Reaper is the star.

About as hot as one can stand and still resemble beer. Loved it!

A: The beer is clear but very dark red in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that died down, leaving a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of coffee are present in the nose.
T: The taste starts off with flavors of dark and chocolate malts, transitions over to coffee, and finishes with spicy flavors of peppers.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a very complex taste with lots of interesting flavors.

12 oz can

very dark amber, almost brown in color. clear though. cream colored head that eventually fades. smokey, peppery aroma. nice complex flavor - dark malt, hint of coffee, slow pepper burn. medium bodied. this is more than a gimmick beer, it's darn good.
