After having the exquisite BA version of this beer, plucking a lonely single 16 oz. can off a local shelf was a no-brainer. Split with the wife.

It’s a black big stout that reeks of sweet vanilla, masking any other olfactory agent.

Beer Geek Vanilla Shake can have a one sentence review: vanilla concentrate poured into a big, thick-ass stout base.

Very one note, but it’s a good note.

16 Oz Can poured into a Duvel Tulip, marked as being 11% ABV

Appearance - dark mahogany body with dark tan head

Smell - vanilla, fudge, dark chocolate, marshmallow, coffee

Taste - marshmallow, dark chocolate, fudge, vanilla, hint of coffee

Mouthfeel - medium plus bodied, medium carbonation, sweetness upfront from the vanilla/marshmallow, finish is long with dark chocolate flavor

Overall - This was a pretty good stout, pretty bold flavors with a good mouthfeel. This would work perfectly as a dessert beer. Worth a try for stout lovers.

Price Point - $7/16 oz can

can to tulip glass.

Look: SUper thick and jet black dark,. thick heavy look. Large brown head. Very Beautiful. Excellent retention after heads fades (not readily).

AROMA: Vanilla and chocolate; roasted malt.
TASTE: roasty character and some bitter coffee like attributes are cut nicely by sweet and sticky vanilla and brown sugar. Like a Chocolate and vanilla mixed milkshake.

FEEL: sticky, thick, full bodied.

Some high quality here. Very tasty and well crafted stout.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short, dense dark tan head that quickly faded away, leaving just a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of vanilla are present in the nose along with notes of dark chocolate and coffee.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a lot of flavors of vanilla and coffee. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed the vanilla and coffee flavors in this stout, which was exceptionally drinkable because it hid any traces of alcohol from the taste and wasn't overly heavy on the palate.

A - Pours a dark brown with a one finger tan head. Huge amount of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted malts.

T - The taste is dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, charred wood and vanilla.

M - Full bodied with low carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - This is a big rich imperial stout. The flavors a rich and inviting. Very well done.

As much as I loved the Maple variant of this beer, this one fell short. The vanilla tasted really artificial, and the coffee felt hidden. It hides the ABV well, but I won't be visiting this one again...but did pickup a second can of the Maple version.

On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has sweet chocolate with powdered sugar and vanilla notes. Taste has roasty coffee notes with sugar and a light vanilla flavor.
