This place was the start of Alesmith so it's very nostalgic. Mikkeler has done great things to this location. Always a pleasant time with the bartenders. Great vibes overall the beer just isn't as great as Modern Times. Prices are relatively high for the quality.

Visited Nov 2016 swing thru SD with Will.
Old Alesmith tasting room converted to Mikkeller. Similar fun vibe and good food freshly cooked out back. Beer selection was broad but none of the Spontaneous brews I found in Copenhagen. Good but not great.

mikkeller is one of my favorites, if not my very favorite, so finally making it here was a bit of a pilgrimage for me, i was always going to love it. however, after visiting, i am even more impressed. i mean, obviously the beer speaks for itself here, its cool how many beers they are making in what appears to be a limited amount of space both physically and in terms of fermentation capacity, they had like 12 or so on tap, but even more in bottles and cans, and the list seems to change all the time. its rad to have their hoppy stuff fresh, it never worked too well coming from europe, and it seems like the pace of innovation has stayed high. we had a wine barrel fermented pils, a malbec grape wild ale in oak, a raspberry and coffee berliner, and a stout with cinnamon, to name a few. they really are doing it all in here. i was hoping for a deeper bottle and can list, they had a handful, but it was pretty slim pickings beyond the draft list. i thought they might have a full mikkeller portfolio like the san francisco spot does, but that isnt the case. fortunately the draft list was awesome and full of fun new stuff to drink on. i loved every beer we had pretty much. service is fine, same as in all the mikkeller spots i have been to, a little uppity, perhaps unintentionally so, not super friendly or welcoming, but obviously competent. the space is fun, arty and open, with a cool front room with some natural light and a little more intimacy. we had an epic time here, spent a pretty penny, but had some of the best beers in san diego. any mikkeller haters will have a different opinion after they visit this paradise! cant wait to go back sometime...

They moved into Alesmith's old location a few years ago. It's a small industrial park and relatively small tap room. It has that usual Mikkeller flair to the decor. They allow outside food and food trucks rotate through at times. It can get crowded but it's definitely worth a visit if you have time.

The taplist is A+, lots of great IPAs and stouts, also a good smattering of other styles. Lots of great Hazy IPAs and interesting things to drink. The service is solid, got some good recommendations and tried several different things.

A bit of a dive, but these guys make the best beer. Highly recommend. Ironically I’m not a big fan of their flagships beer geek breakfast, brunch, dinner, etc line, but everything else is top notch. Their hazy ipas that continually rotate are other-worldly. A large portion of their beers are over 10% ABV, so come here to sip like a snob (although that’s not the vibe), not pound pint after pint. Not for beginners, but once you start to appreciate beer, this place will blow your tits off.

Small little spot in the cut. Very hipster looking. Nice selection on tap. Seating is limited, and Vibe is decent. Best part about this place is the floor!! It's like a smoked teal. Getting drunk, this floor will keep you hypnotized cool artwork on the walls, but not AC. I would come back if I was in the area, but not out of my way.
