33 cL bottle, poured into a Super Bock plastic cup, at Lisbon Airport.
Everything about this beer reads ‘OK’. Proper foam, nice roasty aroma, balanced not-too-sweet chocolate carmel flavor. Dryish finish. No bitterness, no hop note, of note.
Light body and medium carbonation.
This is a decent little Portuguese dark euro ale, and would be a fine accompaniment to a variety of foods. But it gets exposed as having no character on its own.

Poured from a cute little 200mL bottle into a tumbler.
Appearance: super dark brown hue that barely lets any light through, with a finger of frothy tan foam atop. Looks good to me.
Smell: sweet malt with a caramelly aroma that also has some hints of chocolate and nuttiness. Not bad at all.
Taste: rather like the aroma, there's a caramel sweetness with just a hint of chocolate in the mix. Bitterness is present, but pretty light. Not a bad European dark lager at all.
Mouthfeel: medium body wtih a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this is actually a pretty solidly drinkable beer. I would happily have this alongside any meal. So, while it's not necessarily sophisticated, I am a fan of this beer.

200 ml bottle, from a minimarket in Funchal. ABV is 5.0%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Moderate roasty aroma, hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth flavour, with the same elements. Nice enough to drink, but has no real «personality».

Tried this at the lounge at the Lisbon airport. Not bad!

Muddy brown pour with modest off-white to tan head. Mild overall--mild roast, mild somewhat bitter bite. Nothing strong and in your face, all downplayed and fairly pleasant. Won't make anyone forget Guinness, but not bad at all.

33cL bottle
date stamped 07/2023
L: a persistent foamy tan head caps a black bodied beer
S: cola, roast, charred caramel
T: dark malts, burnt caramel, cola, chocolate, roasted barley
F: light-to-medium body, moderate carbonation, balanced finish with a bit of roast and anise lingering on the dry finish
O: not a stout, as the label suggests; but it’s a pretty good Euro Dark Lager

L- Pours black with a heavy/creamy looking dark tan 2-finger cap. ps. @ +10mins it holds up well and forms decent lacing.
S- An overall roasty-toasty smell to it.
T- The flavour is all at the higher end of the spectrum, I'm not getting a deeper end, no initial deep roasting/charring. Some toasty notes come in later, mild bitter hops. Then I get that certain something... something not quite right, a bit artificial than can point to an adjunct.
F- Maybe one for winter on the Atlantic coast?
O- This is blind-tasted, and I suspect that it might have an adjunct carb in it. It lacks that precise 'rounded warmth' that malt has - IDK. It looks good, but the flavour is a let-down. Not one I'd wish to drink again...
£2.30/330ml bottle BB: 07-2023 printed on the neck lable. Bought from Il Mercato, the Med deli in the Grafton Centre, Cambridge/UK
p.s. After rating this I read the lable on the bottle, or tried to, sadly the text is waaay too small for me to read the ingredients list...

Very light and watery for a stout, but I found certain enjoyment from exactly this. Taste is pleasant overall, but nothing extremely exciting — roasted pecan, rye bread, sweet finish. Low carbonation.

Had been sitting on this beer for a good long while now, and, well, the Super Bowl seemed like a great time to drink a Super Bock. Full disclosure, I had a few beer before I broke into the bock. After the first sip I was not thrilled and it seemed like an up hill climb. But much like the Rams in the fourth quarter, the beer rounded into form as the glass got shorter. Smooth drinking stout that was a bit watery, but had decent flavor and could be sipped casually. All in all an OK beer. Doubt I’m going back for another one anytime soon, but it did what it needed to during the big game.
