Picked this bomber up for a little over 3 bucks today.. Brand new to the area so I grabbed a bottle while its as fresh as its ever gonna be...

Not much hop aroma really coming off of this one at all... Some sweet maltiness with a tinge of grassiness to it but with a "90 minute boil and 90 ibus" I'd expect a bit more...hmmm...

Flat seemingly lifeless stale maltiness with a bit of faded hop to it but that's about it for this one.. Two sips and down the drain for me...

Pretty disappointing but for 3 bucks a bomber I didn't have extremy high hopes..

Not impressed...

About the only expectation met was the app. Golden hue with slightly white/frothy head...other than that, not a real IPA as far as im concerned. Actually thought I got a bad sample bottle...

Taste is mostly malt and whatnot, not at all what I expected..or enjoy for that matter..Mouthfeel is consistent with IPA if my tastebuds were broken... Overall, not impressed and won't be sampling another bottle.

Must have put the wrong label on this bottle or something..

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a DFH snifter glass

A: Poured a dark amber with a small head with decent retention. Nice lacing down the glass, but I had a lot of floaties in the glass which concerned me.

S: Very little IPA aroma here, mostly biscuits and malt. Expected a lot more here.

T: Again, very little hop flavor, but it is there. Get a lot of caramel and malt.

D/M: Light to medium bodied. Not sure what's going on here. If I had tasted it blind, would not have guessed IPA, so I hope that it has just been sitting too long. No bottling date that I could find, but hasn't been on the shelves around here very long.

22 oz bomber poured into Sam Adams glass. Pours a deep amber with adequate head and lacing. Aroma is primarily malt with some pear and berries. Taste is peppery and grassy hops and malt, doesn't seem very complex. Wet finish, aftertaste is awful. Wow, $10 a bomber for this?!?

Hazed amber orange with chunks of particulate matter moving in and out and all about. An agressive pour throws up a minimal head that drops quickly.

Muted smell of cinnamon, light brown sugar and overripe fruit. Initial flavor of grainy honey malt, dull hops, notes of grape juice, some pine sap.

Slick mouthfeel, low carbonation. Did I get a bad bottle or is this really what this is all about?

Pours a lightly hazy, honey-amber color with a small, fleeting head of light beige froth. Settling quickly to a thin patch with a bubbly rim, the foam leaves tiny spots of lacing behind. The aroma is, quite honestly, off-putting, showing a cardboard overtone and hints of metal amidst a malty base of stale bread and spent toffee. Hops are weak, hinting at grass and citrus but failing to truly pop. Flavor are equally disappointing, again primarily stale and bready, with faded orange and dry grass bitterness. Eh...not good.

Amber pour with a thin off white head. Aroma is bready, grains and tropical fruit. Grainy flavor, yeasty, buttery. The off flavors actually take away from the hops. Bitter and dry but, im not sure if its just astringent or another flaw. There is something about their beers that so far doesn't appeal to me.

Ugggh! Another tasteless example of an RJ Rookers brew. Hey, for all those out there trying to figure out how to rate RJ Rookers and not pay for it, follow my example: ask for a sample.

That way you don't have to pay for an entire pint. Appearance: average. Smell: No hops. Taste: East coast attempt at an IPA. Okay, it's all just an average attempt to cash in on the IPA craze -- poorly.

Overall, this is a commercial, accountant's version of an IPA. All malt and no hops. The brewmaster should be embarrassed to put this out. A malty pale ale wanting sooo, soooo much to be an all-growns-up IPA.

A hazed amber colored liquid in the glass. Minimal head just bigger then a white slick faded fast. A handful of large carbonation bubbles.

A bit malt forward for the style. Biscuit scent with a coating of honey. Hops do provide a very faint bitterness in the back of the nose.

Very watered down flavor. The hops shine more on the tongue than on the nose and have a floral and pepper bite to them. Malt is present, like white bread soaked in a glass of water.

Watery feel across the mouth. Carbonation is almost not present.

Just an average brew. Would wash down just about anything easily enough. This one is only average overall. Many better choices for the style.

A: it looked good. had the ipa appearance.
S: couldn't really smell all that much in the hops. after smelling so many really good ipas, i felt this one was just kind of average.
T: bland. it had all the ingredients. but didn't really come together in terms of something really good.
M: had good mouthfeel however. creamy. the people at the event didn't really know all that much about it so i can't really comment on that.
O: like i said, having tasted so many great ipas at the event, i would rank this one an average ipa. nothing really stood out.

22oz bottle into pint

Pours a nice deeper yellow with nice white head. Decent lacing
Smells slightly of citrus (lemon, orange, grapefruit), it almost smells too acidic. Taste is not in line with the smell. The dry hops come across as pine, as expected, but the have an 'old' taste too them, but this is a fresh bottle as far as I know. Decent caramel malt backbone. Mouthfeel is drying and a touch over carbonated. Easy enough to drink but a bit messy.

A new offering from RJ Rockers in my area.Poured into an imperial pint glass a chill hazed burnt orange with clingy one finger slight off white head, good definition and stickiness. The aromas were honestly not anywhere to be found except for mild citri and earthy hops,I was really letdown in this aspect of the beer. There is some harshness in the palate, the hops are very bitter (in a bad way)in the finish, bitter and earthy with just a hint of biscuit malt undernereath.Iam a hophead and I like bitter but this seems to miss the mark, maybe being a little to brash.Just my opinion.

Pours caramel with a finger of cream colored head. Murks up a bit as the bottle is drained, sheets of lacing & above average head retention

S: Fruittyness, not much else

T: Woody & herbal hops, caramel sweetness up front, some tea & tannin notes. Herbal & woody hop bitterness dominate, caramel & pears are also there as it warms, along with dryness. Finishes with oaky dryness, some caramel & leafy hops & orchard fruittyness

MF: Medium bodied, sticky, fairly aggressive carbonation. decent balance

This IPA just doesn't quite pull together for me, the hop mix isn't for me. Not bad, but not one I will buy again

This may not be superfresh. Since there is no dating on the bottle, DOOM on JR Rockers...

Had this on-tap poured into a pint glass. It had an amber appearance with a thin head and not much lacing. It had an okay smell. Can't place the hops. Has more a malt backbone than an actually hoppy taste. I would classify this as a typical east coast IPA. The mouthfeel was full and had good carbonation. Overall, I would list this in the also-rans. If it's on-tap and another IPA is available you might want to go that way.

Poured into a pint glass to have with Italian food. The beer is an off yellow, very cloudy. There were a lot of floaters near the end. Not a great way to get my fiber daily.

This smells like a decent IPA. Nothing to blow you away. Just some citrus, kind of mellow.

The flavor is pretty good. I enjoy how it did with the spicy Italian food.

This beer was good, but these days we have an embarassment of riches when it comes to good IPA's. I wish I could say that there was something that sets this beer apart... except for the label, there really wasn't anything.

Picked up a 22oz bomber in a trade with Dawson's Liquor in Severna Park, MD and poured it into a stemmed Bitburger Pilsner glass - thanks fellas!

A: Pours a hazy copper hue with a thin head and not much in the way of lacing.

S: Some bitter hop but way too much sweet malt - reminds me too much of a European take on an IPA.

T: Some earthy/mossy hop flavor that immediately gets overwhelmed and dominated by the massive amounts of sweet malt - there's some resiny hop flavor at the end, but the sweet malt blast is so strong that it never really lets the hop establish itself in the overall flavor.

M: Medium-bodied, good amount of carbonation, somewhat syrupy with a bitter mouthfeel at the end from the hop.

D: Not my kind of IPA - too heavy, sweet and over-malted. Glad I tried it, but don't need to revisit.

Bottle courtesy of 67couple, 22oz bomber into a couple tulips. Thanks again Jon.

Pours an opaque maroon, with a finger or so of white head. Thick lace but almost no head retention. Aroma is overwhelmingly grapefruit with some background orange and other citrus, sweet toffee malt base as always. Quite nice, but not outstanding. A touch of sweetness and the bready, toffee malt are more prominent in the flavour, with some citrus and pine bitterness and a relatively long lingering aftertaste. Not a ton of complexity here. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but the drinkability on this ain't too bad given the strength. Relatively run of the mill in terms of the style.

A - Poured out a clear, copper color with a very small, thin tan head of foam. It left minimal lacing.

S - It smelled of pine, fresh cut grass and some caramel maltiness.

T - It tasted of burnt toast maltiness with sweet caramel notes. There was a sharp citrusy, piney hop bite of bitterness.

M - It was crisp, snappy and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This is an okay IPA. Not impressive looking and didn't have a big IPA flavor.

Bomber received in a trade from PDXhops... thanks bro!

- Nice lightly murky orange and caramel brew... quick white fizz.. leaves a nice bit of lace and a spotty ring.. dusting on top.

- Sticky caramel smelling grain with a nice floral and citrus hop flare. Sweet malts, brown sugar....

- Big caramel malt backbone with some sweet brown sugar and caramel qualities... slightly grainy and bready... biscuit grassy and floral hops... rather heavy on the malt side.

- Sticky, slightly chewy... bit drying, medium bodied..

- Overall not a bad brew... but a bit malt forward for my taste in an IPA.... I like thin not so malty IPA's.. but it is certainly full bodied, and drinkable.

Appearance: Clear orange/copper. Head is white and drops to a wispy cap and chunky collar almost instantly. Moderate carbonation on the pour. Beer glows when held to light.

Smell: Orange pith. Grapefruit. Some minor pine. Big caramel and biscuity malts. Dough. Orange flesh. Oily citrus. Marmalade and a faint earthiness. Floral.

Taste: Flower petals and marmalade spread on a biscuit. Caramel malts. Biscuity with a roasted edge. Some toasted notes. Bready. Pith and orange flesh with a ghost of pine resin. Grapefruit juice punches through.Lingering herbal spiciness. Well balanced.

Mouthfeel: Moderate body, moderate carbonation. Nice creamy edge. Touch dry on the finish.

Overall: A solid drinking IPA. Nice price point at under $5/bottle. Solid fresh, I'd be afraid of it with any age.

This is definitely heavily hopped. I don't think that it's a bad beer, but it certainly is off balance. Lots of pine, with some salt in there and a heavy malt aftertaste, it seems. Feel is super sticky and tacky. It's consistent, I'll give it that. But it lacks the balance and character needed to compete with the other big ipas out there.

22oz bomber. Pours a cloudy medium brown color. Not much of a head on this one but lots of lacing. Aromas of piney hops, slight citrus, and somewhat floral. Taste bitter hops and not a whole lot else. A bit of a grapefruit aftertaste, but not much. I've never seen this brewery before and thats why I picked it up. Judging by the small amounts of reviews it is relatively new. This is an alright IPA but there are a bunch of other ones I'd grab before getting this one again.

Poured from a 22-ounce bomber into a Spaten Oktoberfest pint glass.

A: Hazy, orange-amber in color with a bubbly, frothy, two-finger head of white foam which was a tad creamy and held on with some decent lace. Relatively muddled clarity with some chill haze and some sediment floating amongst the yeast.

S: Candied tropical fruits, pineapple, orange and some herbal, spicy notes blend with grassy, floral and bitter hops.

T: Pretty malt-forward at first, with a sweet and sticky caramel malt and tobacco leaf flavor backed quickly by somewhat musty, candied fruits and a bitter, citrus fruit hop finish. A little sticky sweet and the bitterness doesn't linger in the right way, but it's okay.

M: Full-bodied and a bit heavy handed with the low carbonation and sweet, caramel malt base.

D: Not as hoppy of an IPA as I'd have hoped for, but the malt profile took me by surprise. It has a nice combo of sweet, heavy, almost syrupy malts combined with a decent amount of bitter, herbal, nosy hops that don't impact the overall perception all that much. The 7.5% ABV puts it near DIPA categories for me, and that's just fine, I say.

The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is resiny hops and earthy hops with a bit of toffee. The flavor is a lot of toffee and caramel with some earthy hops, resiny hops and pine hops. While there is quite a bit of hop flavor, there is very little bitterness, making this a very malty IPA. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
