This is one of my most favorite beers and definitely a world class beer.
Pours clear with thick head and good lacing, golden in color.
Very strong pine aromas.
Very, very juicy tasting, possibly the juciest beer I've ever tasted. Very sweet with medium bitterness which is just right. Malty, some pine flavors and possibly like mango.
Feels very thick in the mouth.
Overall a great beer that I continue to enjoy, and have had it regularly now for at least 2 years.

Wow. This one is wild - but we aren’t talking about the wild days of youth - think more so like that one time you had to use the John and settled for an AMPM bathroom in Barstow. No sir. This one is a mess like Keith Richards leaving a hotel in his prime. Really, it’s so bad that I don’t even want to go on. It’s the Phantom Menace of beers.
See ya.

Pours from the can with a robust apricot glow and an uneven, off-white head. Bubbles are slow rising.
Aroma is sharply alcoholic, with bitter grapefruit pith, chalk, some raw white onion. Good depth, but not pungent.
Taste once again leads with fusel alcohol and one-dimensional grapefruit bitterness; after the swallow, an enjoyable flavor of jasmine rises up. But the balance and overall structure here is poor.
Mouthfeel is fairly light; not overcarbonated, not heavy, but not particularly satisfying.
Overall, a fairly unpleasant experience. I love big, bitter brews, but this one should go back to the drawing board. A lot of hops and a lot of booze does not an Imperial IPA make.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours golden orange amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some nice lacing.
S: Dank earthy herbal notes that transition into tropical fruit and melon a little citrus, slightly floral, a touch of pine, lightly toasted bready malt, and a little honey toffee sweetness.
T: Tropical fruit comes out first, papaya, melon, apricot, peach, mango, and candied pineapple, citrus, orange, lemon, and lime, rather floral, some pine, underlying earthy herbal notes, toasty bready malt, and honey toffee sweetness.
M: Full body, mild carbonation, alcohol is completely hidden.
O: Old school Imperial IPA that still holds up pretty well. I'm wondering assuming the recipe has been changed over the years to include Citra, Amarillo, and Mosaic in the dry hop. Would be interesting to see what the original was all about.

Coper filtered with moderate carbonation and 2 fingers of off white head.
Smells of tropical fruit, peaches, pineapple, pine and caramel.
Tastes of pineapple, fruity like dried tropical fruits, mango, papaya, fruit punch, caramel, orange zest and pine.
Medium, resinous body with moderate carbonation.
I got this Redding where I am drinking it, Feb 25th, 2018. Excellent brew.

On-draught @ Lengthwise. Currently #98 in the Top 100 Californian beers list.
Pours a fairly vibrant orange-copper coloured body with a white head that vanishes within 1 minute.
Aroma is tropical, hitting on mango and papaya but not the traditional citrus (e.g. orange) Citra is known for in the best expressions of Citra-hopped IPAs. Has a slight candied sweetness to it.
Taste is fruity and tropical, evoking vivid mango, papaya, and juicy tangerine citrus with a concomitant bitter bite. Some candied fruit peel flavour along with the crystal malt backbone cushions the hop bitterness with balancing sweetness.
The 2-row barley malt withstands all the hop flavour remarkably well, hiding the beer's monstrous ABV dangerously well yet never letting it feel too weighty or heavy on the palate. Medium-bodied, smooth, wet, well carbonated.
Overall, it's a lively and inspired brew that doesn't shy away from hop pungency. As surprisingly drinkable as it is for it's high ABV, I do have to say it fails to showcase Citra hops as well as superior (I)IPAs. In any case, it's well worth trying - even if it isn't quite the king of the Gods its name would imply.

Palate Contaminants: other beer
Appearance is a nice opaque dark amber. Yellowish head and a little lacing.
Smell isn't particularly powerful, but it's still pleasant. Malt and honey are the first scents I get. There's also a little lemon and pineapple.
So, I guess this doesn't volatilize much, which is fine by me because I'm always more concerned with the taste. The honey is stronger, but there's not much juiciness. Maybe a little apple juice. Man, this is really flowery. It's more sweet than bitter, too, and I'm pretty sure it's that the hops are hitting me differently than any other brew I've had. I mean, it's definitely hoppy. There's a slight bit of acidity, too.
There's a good amount of fine carbonation that's easily stirred out. And it's a bit boozy.
