A: Dark dark gold with more than a hint of burnt orange. Warmer hue perhaps due to the raspberry addition. Completely opaque with just a thin layer of head upon pouring, which dissipated rather quickly. Milky, hazy, and thick--to-style.

S: Wowie, that is unreal. Can't think of many noses better than this one. INTENSE raspberry candy aromas explode out of the glass. Think artificial "blue raspberry" candies melted down and condensed vs. actual fresh raspberry fruit. Maybe a bit of something reminiscent of the gooey raspberry filling inside chocolate candies. Nerds candy as well. Lightly lactic, probably due to the sour strain combining with the milk sugar. As it warms, a bit of hoppy citrus (orange, grapefruit), but man, that raspberry candy aroma is ridiculous.

T: Follows the nose.. Crazy blue raspberry candy flavor dominates up front. Starts sweet without being cloying--has almost a cotton candy-like sweetness, light and fluffy. Transitions into something lightly tart, more tart raspberry fruit and something a little lactic. Finishes with a bitter of citric bitterness, like grapefruit rind and maybe a hint of orange flesh. Aftertaste is Fruity Pebbles soaked in milk. Mixed berries and pineapple flavor with a bunch of sugar and cream. With a side of grapefruit juice.

F: Medium-light in weight despite being jam-packed with flavor. Drinks above its ABV. Carbonation starts light and comes on mid-palate, a little sharper than I'd prefer. Despite strong sweetness up front, hoppy citric bitterness on backend keeps it balanced.

O: This is a wild beer. Innovative and sure to offend plenty. Drinks more like a cocktail than a beer when cold, becoming more hop-forward and bitter as the liquid warms. It's a fun one to share among 2-3 people for sure, as the flavors do get a bit tiresome after 16oz. But the representation of 'raspberry candy' (esp on the nose) in this is unreal, unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's super fun and nostalgic. Takes me back to trying new candies on Halloween night as a kid.

A: Watermelon-coral colored. Head has shades of pink like baby's breath.

S: Just layers of raspberry filling interspersed between a multi-tiered vanilla sponge cake. Tropical fruit frosting: passionfruit, mango juice, spice of ginger ale, stone fruit mix. Just some off menthol wafts that almost come across as Icy-Hot, or it could be cool blue raspberry jell-o.

M: Light enough feel to be a summer drink. Med-light bodied.

T: Raspberry sherbert. Lemon ice. Woodsy pine. Tartness of fresh picked berries. Worried it may be too sweet, but the jamminess is handled well with the citrusy hops and herbal vanilla.

Canned 3/13/2018, pours strawberry daiquiri reddish purple color with a foamy 2 finger pink head that that was full of bubbles, dissipating on the slow side and leaving decent spotty lacing. Two thumbs up just for the colors alone.

Smells of raspberry, strawberry, all kinds of fruit, fruity candy like Skittles, Razzles and the powder you eat with a candy stick. There are also nice citrus and orange notes, some papaya, grapefruit, pineapple and green apple. It all borders on too sweet, but then shifts to smelling tart and like passionfruit or mango. Really odd in a good way.

Tastes tart and fruity with raspberry, strawberry, passionfruit, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, lime and all kinds of fruit, then like the nose there's fruity candy like Skittles and Razzles, maybe even Twizzlers and Grape Big League Chew. The tart fruits like green apple show up then citrus and orange juice notes kick in before the sweetness shifts to faint brown sugar and sweet crackers as it fades. It gets more tart and puckering as it warms.

Mouthfeel is smooth with mild carbonation, a slight bitterness, mild tart fruity notes like grapefruit or a tart green apple, and then some minor funk and fruity/sugary sweetness. The massive fruity flavors make it almost confusing but fun and different with every sip.

A sour IPA with milk sugar, raspberries and vanilla beans, hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic powder. Hudson Valley are off the road on most beers, but this one is out in left field but is a wonderful experimental concoction. Outstanding.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a creamy cloudy pale purple with a small but dense head that left some lace. Nose is raspberry flavored lemonade...unfortunately not getting the citra, simcoe, and mosaic over the lemon and raspberry here. Taste is fairly straightforward as (again) the raspberry lemonade is prominent. The lactose makes it creamy and provides a bit of residual sugar, but do not expect a milkshake here. Overall, this comes across much more as a light sour with quite a bit of raspberry than anything resembling an IPA. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit one dimensional.

Traded for this one ages ago as the date on the bottom of the can read 8/22/17 with DRINK RIGHT NOW written above it. Of course, that didn't happen but this still came out nice with very little sediment at the bottom of the liquid. This felt like a Sour IPA to me, and not necessarily a New England IPA, as the raspberry tartness seemed to stand out above all else. Still not sure where the purple look of this beer came from, as it might have had to do more with the taste than anything else!

That dark, muted golden pour had a ton of frothy head that topped it off and took quite a while to settle down. Most of the soapy lacing that remained was in the form of a thick arc around the back of my pint glass in the middle, with a few soapy splotches on down. Lots of raspberry tartness and juice in the nose with some acrid lemon underneath that. Hard to feel the hops here as an intense, biting, hardened sugar came through in the taste like in breakfast cereal. Smooth, sweet, and almost artificial, this was not a milkshake beer and didn't have enough malt in it for me to consider it one, as the sourness took hold from the first sip and never quite let go. Some tangerine cream and lactose kicked in as this warmed up but this beer never really stood out to me during my time with it.

That's not to say that it wasn't bad - I couldn't feel the alcohol and it was hard to believe that there was even any in here. Fans of Hudson Valley, such as myself, will love this brew that's typical of what they're well-known for. Just don't go looking for anything groundbreaking here!
