Notes: The beer William Wallace would’ve drank if he didn’t drink the tears of HIS enemies. A light brown Scottish Ale with aromas of subtle fruit combined with a toasty malt character followed flavors of caramelized sugar and toasted bread and finishes with a pleasant warmth.

After promising to compare the barrel-aged version of this beer to the regular version, I did just that. And wow, they are different. Both good, but very different. This one isn't nearly as sweet, and had none of the vanilla flavor that I got from the barrel-aged one. This is your basic Scottish ale, not really a wee heavy at only 7.1%, but it's still interesting to me that the barrel-aged version is only 7%. This base beer is still pretty good, but I do prefer the barrel-aged one a bit more.
