Notes:
John Henry is a traditional oatmeal milk stout. Brewed with English malts and hops this beer presents with coffee and chocolate notes but with a light, drinkable body.

12 oz. at Elsmere in SoPo in a snifter.
Appearance: Classic stout. Black body and big, creamy tan/off-white head.
Aroma: Coffee, some dark malt. Somewhat sweet. Not a super powerful nose.
Taste: Milk chocolate, coffee with creamer, some roasty coffee beans. Good stuff.
Mouthfeel: Pretty easy on the palate. Somewhat bitter, but almost milkshake like in character.
Overall: Very nice sweet stout. Pairs well with a burger because of its milkshakey-ness.

In a pint glass the beer was very dark brown with a tint of red. Small tan head that receded quickly.
Sweet, grainy aroma. Roasted malt.
Mostly chocolate taste, a little coffee. Cereal.
Sweet and smooth in the mouth.

From a 32oz growler poured 7/9
Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head, leaves no lacing on the glass.
Smell has a strong roasted malt aroma, touch of toffee on the nose.
Taste starts out with a sweet edge, solid roasted malt backing, slight chocolate presence in the aftertaste, hops are fairly mute, nice soft carbonation lends a creaminess throughout.
Nothing that makes it break from the pack but easy enough to drink.

Had this at the Tap Room, Portland, Me. on draft and it was outstanding. It is sweet but I prefer that in my stouts. Stouts can be a little too strong tasting for my tastebuds. This was just the right amount of sweetness to bitter ratio. It was creamy and smooth with tastes of toffee, molasses and sweet cream.
