Clear yellow typical to AAL. Head quickly dissipates after pouring and little lacing. Light corn smell. Ever so subtle creamy mouth feel, but somehow, still a bit watery. A pleasant surprise for an AAL. Sweet grainy taste with very slight hops. I was pleasantly surprised by this as I always heard this was cheap nasty beer, but it is way better than Budweiser.

This is just an overly carbonated cheap macro lager, with very little going for it, below average for taste, even Will Farrell can't save this one from mediocrity.

Pours a clear crisp effervescent pale gold color. So pale in color that its almost clear at the bottom of a pilsner glass. Thick pillowy head dissipates quickly leaving nothing by a think slick of white foam on the top of the beer.

Smell has notes of corn, slight skunk, bit of bread-y malts and a hint of tang? Interesting, and unique, but ultimately pretty bland.

Taste has notes of light white wonder bread, corn, and a hint of grain. Flavor is rather watery and very very sweet. Must have tons of corn. As it warms it tastes like sweet yellow corn.

Feel is light, crisp with decent carbonation. Very quenching and refreshing. Easily drinkable (other than the taste).

Overall this just isn't a great AAL. The flavor is too watery and its so corn forward that its overly sweet. Meh.

If you're drinking this out of a can, you're missing out on the best feature of this beer. Poured from 16-ounce can into a flute. Clear pale amber color with a voluminous snowy white head and lots of nice lacing. Beyond that, not much on the nose or the palate. Thin and watery mouthfeel and just a slight touch of lingering sweetness on the aftertaste. I can't imagine a light version of this, because this is about as light as it gets. YMMV.

DATE: August 21, 2016... OCCASION: saying goodbye to the Olympics, I celebrate 120 medals with an American original... GLASSWARE: Browns pilsner.... crystal clear, tawny yellow body--as light as could be while still considered gold--with large, sparse bubbles jetting upward... white head is filmy, hazy, and clinging unevenly to the glass... fresh bread malts combine with corn to make for a beefy, tangy inhalation... some off-center funk is prevalent... flows as swiftly as water, with only a slight brackishness... refreshing, but flirts with apology as it exits swiftly with a light body.... taste is as expected--corn, honey, malted barley, and water, with water as the predominant factor... a mouth rinser, but having read the the excellent Ambitious Brew, this former Schlitz product is a solid American creation that gave the People what they wanted--a beer that could be slammed at serious rates without residual.... good for what it's meant to do...

Very yellow. Barely any head. Tastes like a very bitter cheap beer. To be fair I purchased these not with the intention to drink any of it but to mix with beer batter for a fish fry. I bought it because it was cheaper to buy a 6 pack of 16oz cans than it was to buy a single bottle of New Glarus beer in Wisconsin. I unfortunately drank the other 4 after using 2 for the fish. This brought me back to college, and drinking whatever was cheapest at the liquor store. Bad things.

i like this beer cause of its cool old taste and strong brewing , but i think i will like it better if they had it in bottle presentation to conserve that brewing well fit

Pale yellow body infused with lots of carbonation; thick, frothy, white head. Faint aroma mostly of light grains and the barest suggestion of grass. Weak grain flavor with a light metallic, bitter aftertaste. Thin, watery body; crisp and dry.

Perfect beer for a cheap, inexpensive brew but with little going for it as far as smell, taste, or mouthfeel. If economics versus quality is what you seek, this is a fine beer to fit those needs.

Lots of yellow, almost no head can be held. Aroma of mass production and grain.

Devoid of hop, yeast and malt flavors for the most part. A high bitterness quotient to malt ratio. Corn sweetness. Lots of water everywhere, not a drop to drink.

Its an AAL, and it fits exactly in that category. Lots of carbonation, minimal flavor in the positive sense. Seems like they tried to use the least amount of high alpha acid hops, long boil, minimal barley (and if so, comes off as 6 row) creates an off bitterness lacking desired beer flavors.

I have been wanting to try Old Mil since I turned 21. It has been impossible to find in my one horse town in Michigan. Today at the gas station I finally found it. it was a risk considering it was a 30 pack, but I had to buy it 13.99$. Not a bad price. I was pretty excited to finally try it, and (luckily) I was not disappointed.
Look-Big white head with lots of lacing. Lots of carbonization bubbles sticking to side of glass. Nice light straw color beer. Normal looking lager.
Smell-The beer smells of grain, bread, and corn. The smell reminds me of a carbon copy of Labatt Blue Light.
Taste- It's a nice taste. It's a little watery. Up front you taste the grain, bread, and corn. I can also taste a light hint of hops during the finish. It tastes kind of sweet as it's going down. It's a very smooth beer. Overall the taste is a very nice pleasant transition from start to finish. Nothing really jumps out at you as being an over powering ingredient. Very nice blend.
Feel- The beer leaves your mouth with a very dry taste.
Overall- Im giving this beer a 4 out of 5. It was a lot better then I expected. For a cheap beer it is defiantly in my top 10 now. Hopefully my local gas station keeps this beer around for awhile. Try it it's a lot better then people say it is. For the price you can't go wrong.
