24oz can. Poured out a crystal clear, golden yellow color with a very small, white head of foam. It left no lacing. It smelled of grains, cereal and floral notes. Sweet caramel taste and mild bitterness. Not offensive but not very flavorful.

I got a 24oz single of this can for $2.99, poured into a tulip beer glass. Golden in color with a white head, on the nose a bit of Ice beer smell. Tasted a bit like a green apple, smooth and refreshing. I would get it again.

I appreciate Schlitz Malt liquor for it's classic taste that stands out in a sea of craft brews. Sometimes you can't be the originals.

Now called The Bull Bold Lager. Pours a clear golden color with big white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma has corn syrup, white bread, and sweet grains. Taste is slightly sweet with a hint of hops in the finish. Body is light, almost watery with average carbonation. If you don't mind the sweet corn flavors this is an easy one to drink quickly. 5.9% used to be bold. Thankfully this one is still cheap ($3.99 for a 4-pack of tall boys). Not good, but not offensive ever.

16 oz. can poured into tall mug
(June 30, 2025 best-by date printed on bottom of can)
L: massive fluffy head of white/offwhite foam at least 3 inches tall, maybe more, off a very strong pour; the beer is 100% clear and a dull gold leaning more toward yellow/dark yellow than anything with amber in it; only a little sticking off that big head, and no lacing, but there's enough carbonation in the beer to continue pushing up a thick sudsy collar of offwhite foam and most of a skin
S: stale grain, stale corn, stale barley; corn; dusty rice sacks; alcohol (rubbing alcohol? ethanol? doctor's office medicinally "clean" smell? something like one of those); smells a lot like a ballpark or basketball/hockey arena after years of people spilling their AALs and light beers on the concrete concourses and stands
T: sweet carbonated corn water with a pinch of alcohol/bitter bite at the finish
F: watery and a bit flat after a heavy-handed pour; I can't dock the mouthfeel here because I overdid the pour thinking it would be so over-carbonated that it could handle it; to the beer's credit, the carbonation left is trying to make a comeback hahahaha ... sometimes the pretty pour can hurt this category for me, and I went for the pretty pour
O: I've had so much worse from the craft beer world that it's not even funny, but I've also had much better from the generic macro world; still, I like the corn/grain flavor, enjoy the "malt liquor" sweetness and like the fact that it's not overly hefty in ABV at 5.9%; I'm not sure why I would ever buy this again, but if someone handed me one at a party or BBQ, I'd thank them kindly and enjoy thoroughly

Poured into a pilsner glass.
Look: Yellow-orange. Thick, frothy white head. Mediocre retention but decent lacing.
Smell: Overly sweet. Boozy. White bread.
Taste: A touch of citrus throughout, with a honey note underneath that. Overly boozy but not as bad as other, stronger malt liquors. There's a thread of malt flavor, but its buried under all the sweetness.
Feel: Medium body with an alright amount of carbonation.
Overall: This is almost enjoyable. I find the flavor to be much more tolerable than stronger malt liquors, but the lower abv leaves this as less bang for your buck.

16 oz. Can poured into mason jar
Look: one and a half finger head does not stay long, golden color. Good lacing.
Smell: Malt with hints of sweetness.
Taste: Medium bitterness, not extraordinary, not bad. Finish is ok.
Feel: Nice carbonation, stays on tongue after swallowing.
Overall: I could take it or leave it. I would not seek it out if there were others of the style.
Pair with seafood.

24oz can, date code SEP2721. Poured into a pint glass.
A - pours a clear yellow with a thin white head that leaves a little bit of lacing. Head retention is fair; lots of small bubbles rising through the glass.
S - Primarily malts and adjuncts; there's a bandage-like funk that shows up near the end of the nose that's a bit off-putting.
T - Malty with a caramel-like sweetness; no discernable hop character. The funk present on the nose doesn't reveal itself in the taste.
M - Medium-bodied with average carbonation and a smooth, sweet finish. Drinkability is good, provided it stays cold.
O - For a regular strength ML (5.9%) it's serviceable, but better options exist. YMMV.

I have one idea what it looks like, drank it straight from the can after fishing it from an iced down communal beer cooler in the middle of a Pakistani Valero at IH-10 and Fry are. on the outskirts of Houston.
It was, as you might have guessed, ice cold. I only detected a sulphurous, slightly putrid smell. The taste is as slightly sweet, artificial grape drink (drank) (purple), slight alcohol warmth. It tastes a lot like, despair. I’m so glad I only had 16 oz to drink.
It will get the job done if you want a buzz, but there’s much better ways to achieve that for the same price.

(16 oz can, DEC0919; purchased cold single... poured into fat tulip)
L: brilliantly-clear, pale yellow-amber liquid; tall, semi-tight, silky white foam builds high, slow crumble... thin collar remains, a few islands of suds as well; some lace, but much of it slides away
S: dried apple, hint of white grape atop a powdered-donut doughy malt base; soft clove spice, subtle cookie-ish baked grain note... no one element really stands out, fair-moderate potency... malt fades in favor of spice and dried pomme
T: expected a little more base sweetness upon first sip, but it's merely a mellow, white-bready, dry malt foundation; the spice is even rather subdued, lingering with a delicate boost of booze in the aftertaste... taste gets more muddy as it goes; bit of a medicinal alcohol builds in the back halfway through; slight nutty yeast aftertaste by the end
F: satiny smooth, little afterburn... arguably a tad watery in the finish; arguably needs a lil more heat; otherwise dream drag and drop
O: last saw this summer 2015, but failed to pull the trigger - been looking for it since... an open-minded venture into an anecdotally seedy dive bar in my buddy's town reaped its reward, of sorts (basically just the review)... disappointingly a little too bland of a taste, but fantastically drinkable (1518)

First impression:

***
07/08/19 can:
A bit sweet and a biteen syrupy but not as off putting as many budget malt liquors. Corn, 6-row, cooked grain. Has a warm alcohol undertone that's unpleasant but not intolerable.
No overt hop flavours are present to any extent. Not metallic or otherwise off.
Unrefreshing but drinkable. I've had worse student tipples in my day. Wouldn't be a repeat buy with Mickey's on the market...

To me, the king of Malt Liquors. Overall I would rate it as average, because there are none from this category I would consider outstanding. Is a sweet smelling and tasting brew, light bodied but extremely poundable. Let's be honest, if your drinking ml's you're not looking for sipping brews.

L: Thick head, decent lacing, deep golden color.
S: Sweet malt and corn. Fairly weak.
T: Very sweet, basically no hops, inoffensive but not very rich or grainy.
F: Medium bodied with very clean finish. Not as carbonated as the X.L. Schlitz malt liquor (Red bull)
Overall: You could do worse than this one but it's not even better than OE 800. I like the Red Bull X.L. Schlitz better as it is not as sweet. A middle of the road malt liquor that is worth a try but not worth going out of your way for.
