L-dark nearly black opaque with minimal tan head that fades quickly
S- Faint malt but just less aroma than most
T-definitely a sweet start followed by toasted malts, hints of toffee, chocolate. No bitterness
F-medium bodied, smooth, carbonation settles out
O-definitely an enjoyable milk stout, tending toward the sweeter side of the style but saved by a robust finish without bitterness

Very smooth. Pours like a stout, looks like a stout. Smells of cocoa sweet vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel, smooth and easy to drink. You definitely pick up the bittersweet chocolate taste. Not a big stout drinker (nothing against them) but rather enjoyed this one more than expected.

I went through a 4 pack of this in May during lockdown. It is kind of sweet with subtle bitter chocolate notes. It is one of my favourite local stouts, widely available in 16 ounce cans.

In a world of double dry hop-this and barrel aged-that, its good to see some good stewards of the classic styles still churning out quality beer of yesterday but to a contemporary and often restless beer drinking audience. That's what Mild Wide brewers are doing with the English styled milk stout, and with the cask-like emulation from a nitro infused pour.
Creamy and cascading, the black beer settles with a thick blanket of soft and sandy foam. Muted aromas roll off of McPoyle milk stout roll onto the nose with a coffee, cocoa and light caramel scent that's redolent with coffee & cream and perhaps whoppers malted milk candy. A mild mannered sweetness glides softly onto the early palate with light caramel, toffee and vanilla.
Roasted barley washes the middle palate with the taste of dark roast coffee, walnut and cocoa. A hint of smoldering embers bring a hint of campfire to the session while any sweet impressions quickly become a distant memory. Dry, roasty and off ash character trails into a moderate, broad and woodsy bitterness that plays out on a crisp, plaster-like finish.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the milk stout's impressions of vanilla and cream offer a mild support against the arid nature of roast while the drinkability of the stout flirts with refreshing properties. A medium length afterglow of coffee and cream keep the clean and dedicated taste going strong.

32 ounce pre-packged crowler purchased a couple weeks ago at the brewery, no canning on date that I noticed on there. Served in a Mile Wide snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head that stuck around a while. There's a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like chocolate, roasted malt, cream and a bit of dark fruit. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some coffee and burnt/charred malt noticeable too. It's sweet with some roasty bitterness as well. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I think it's a good overall stout, I won't have any problems finishing this crowler! I'll have to stop in again on my future trips to Louisville, as I also enjoyed their other beers that I tried at the taproom.
