Velkopopovický Kozel Pale beer is characterized by its delicate taste, and is great as a refreshment during the day or to relax with after a job well done.

This deep fermented beer is perfect to enjoy with food. If you fancy experimenting, you can combine it with Kozel Dark beer, by mixing the beers in a glass in the 1:1 ratio, you will achieve a combination of malty, hoppy and caramel taste.

A friend brought me back several bottles of Kozel brews from her trip to the Czech Republic. Thanks for the effort, April!

This is a golden lager with a nice white head. It has the grassy aroma common to Czech beers with noticeable Saaz aromas.. The flavor is light, as expected, but certainly not flavorless. It has a good balance of malt flavors and hop bitterness.

This is a good light beer. If only American brewers would learn from the Czechs.

Picked up a tall can at the Prague main train station for the ride back to Germany. Dated 16.05.23. Had this on draft a few times in the city, as well, and it’s a classic version of the style. Easy to drink.

Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting. Golden colour, moderate white head. Grainy and dusty aroma. Highly drinkable, light bodied of course, but fairly dry and crisp with tolerable hops.

The other year I worked a couple of months at a Czech field where I had to look after hops bushes. Their smell... I can define it even if you wake me up in the middle of a night. This beer contains a smell of that hops in every sip. All in all these hops' bitterness and smell is the feature of most Czech beers. Having returned to Ukraine I took this beer and had a flashback in my memory to that Czech field of hops.

Bought at a Supermarket in Olomouc (Moravia, Czech Republic). 0,5 liter bottle poured into a glass of Pilsner Urquell (the one they give you at the bars).
-Pale colour. 1mm thick foam head. Leaves foam traces all over. Looks superb.
-Fresh smell. Some hints of bread. I like it.
-Grain taste. Very lightly bitter. But I think it tastes very good.
-Hugely crispy feel.

Overall a superb beer. I recommend it.

When you're tired of Polish beers while working on the farms in the Polish Southwest, get Kozel. Square root of 4761 Smirnoff Ices/69

Picked up just across the border at a gas station. After all going into the Czech Republic is like going into Wisconsin right. Can is kozel velkopopovicky svetle vycepni. Popping the top I get a sweet malt and zesty hop smell. Pours to a typical yellow with a nice strong bright white head. Taste is malty, mild on the bitterness until the aftertaste, and very smooth on the mouthfeel. This is a very easy drinker, nice on the palate and at 4% a beer you can enjoy in quantity. A winner in my book.

330 ml can poured into shaker.

A- Straw and clear. Head is white, somewhat dense, but not really any retention.

S- Grain, mild grassy notes. Subtle sweetness, biscuit.

T- Crisp grain. Hop character is more earthy, deeper than grass.

M- Body light, very crisp finish, helped by nice carbonation.

O- Feel is nice. Crispness refreshing.

Poured from the bottle into a pokal like Kronenbourg glass.

Golden and dark yellow bodied with a shimmering quality. Rock and solid two finger bleach white head, crowning nicely with a little bit of clumpy lacing.

Aroma has decent malt depth, a little chewy but also a had sweet. Creeps slight crispness but some good depth.

Palate has a minimal but sweet honey flavor at first. Minimal crispness with a touch of faint bready note. A good doughy after taste but lacks herbal hop character.

A comfortable Czech pils, but plays it a bit safe in the flavor department.
