Ok, I'm going to preface this by saying that this is the guiltiest I've ever felt writing an online review.

I'm a lifelong resident of Vermont, born and raised and spoiled by our incredible breweries. I had the honor of having many pints of Heady Topper at the original brewpub in Waterbury, long before the pub was destroyed by Irene and the subsequent cannery made The Alchemist world-famous. Hill Farmstead is a short drive from my house and I can remember sampling Edward for the first time out of a tiny shack near a rundown barn. I take great pride in our amazing breweries, especially our world-renowned IPAs.

Which is where the guilt comes again. I have a new favorite DIPA. And it's from Massachusetts.

Hair Raiser is simply the most perfect beer to my palette. Hoppy but not overly bitter, strong but not boozy, a flavor that matches its aroma--it has it all. It almost reminds me of the perfect cross of my other favorite beers, Lawson's Sip of Sunshine and The Alchemist's Focal Banger.

Glad to finally get that off my chest. If you haven't tried this beer, do it ASAP. You won't regret it.

Big, Galaxy hop-driven DIPA.

Nice yellowy-orange turbid look with some head on the pour.

Very aromatic with the tropical fruits. Also a lot of mint (perhaps spearmint?) as others have mentioned. I think the mint comes out more with age (I've drank a number of these since they were brewed).

Juicy taste up front going over to a nicely balanced finish with subdued albeit present bitterness. Mint is easily detected on the finish as well. No real alcohol detected despite it being 8.4%.

More chewy than their IPA, with a nice medium body to it.

This is a great beer. So excited this place is located in my town!

Was skeptical at first since I wasn't entirely a huge fan of The Cat's Meow, but hey from my observations on this one:

Can might have been dated 06/26/2017 but well, in my opinion for DIPA shelf life that was kept cold the entire time, well, just read the rest of my thoughts on this and decide for yourself.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was well, I'll just say it looked like pure orange juice. The white foamy level head on this beer dissipated immediately and left some spotty filmy lace.
The aroma had a fabulous blend of pure bittersweet orange rind bumping fists with a superb clean malt bill and then pulling in a nice clean piney hop backbone. But how this comes together is just so well done.
The flavor was fully bittersweet matching the orange juice to the piney-ness absolutely wonderful adding in a nicely expected zestiness to blend. Not much of an aftertaste, somewhat piney yet zesty with a little bit of springy citrus popping here and there, it's just super quick.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Some palate wrecking capabilities come in for a substantial bitterness that's aggressive enough to grip my tongue but also have a slight smooth mobile pillowy feel rolling along my tongue.
Overall, as a Vermonter, I could call this a threat to the well being of Vermont IPA's and DIPA's but I won't because it's best to just say that this is absolutely awesome.

On tap at The Reservoir in Waterbury, VT.

This one pours a chunky and turbid bright orange, with a fluffy head and lots of lacing.

This smells kind of like feet, like feet doused in orange juice, with tart mango and cream of wheat.

This is unfortunately quite disappointing. I had heard good things and read good reviews, but this might be a bad batch. It's so muddled, grainy and unfocused. The flavors clash- there's an odd creamy/grainy bitterness, feels husky, and slightly vegetal. It's very juicy, but there's nothing interesting to support that.

This doesn't sit super well on the palate, it's heavy and insubstantial all at the same time.

This is bad news.

Look: I'll give Exhibit A credit on their cans, some of the best looking around. But this beer looks as good when you pour it into a glass, as the can does.
Smell: Hops and fruit, hops and fruit, and some more hops and fruit
Taste: More please
Feel: Smooth and hoppy
Overall: I would keep drinking this over and over, a super solid DIPA.

Look: Orange, hazy, with 2 inch head.
Smell: Orange, melon, ripe mangoes, and cantaloupe.
Taste: Really juicy, Orange, melon, mangoes with very tame bitterness.
Feel: Layers of flavor saturate the palette. Real complex dipa.
Overall: I love this dipa. Exhibit A is nailing just about every style.

Meh. this is just one of those that didn't please my taste buds. Hitting me with an almost tinny after taste. Maybe I was having a stroke or something but either way not super drinkable for me which was unfortunate. Glad to see others are enjoying this local spot. Looking forward to trying some of their other creations.

Thanks goes out to colby600 for this brew.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 10/30/17

My first from this brewery.

Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice cloudy pale yellow color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus white head, which also leaves some very nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, peach), very nice diesel like. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, peach), very nice diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a very nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty brew, a nice slight take on the style. Addictive! Orange Julius! Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. Thanks Bill!

Pours a rich orange with a one finger head with fluffy lacing. Smells of orange and malted bread, tropical citrus and sweet candied fruit. Taste is a peppery bitter hop bite, followed by citrusy hops, into a dry bitter finish. Bread malt present in the taste as well as the nose.

Enjoyed at the brewery.

A - Poured into a standard tulip a nice hazy golden hue with a thick creamy white head that fades to leave sticky lacing and a thick blanket.

S - Aromas of loads of fruit, light stone fruit and tropical notes, solid citrus. Maybe some faint faint herbal note.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, very nice fruity notes. The citrus is excellent, great oranges, solid tropical notes, light almost apricot flavour. Fainter malt backbone. Really nice.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden nicely.

O - Overall this was a very good dipa. Excellent hop profile. My goodness.

Looks great with big pillowy white head over a solid orange body. Smells like strawberries. Taste is all over the map. Really bitter but overly phenolic. Out of balance. Boozy too.

Wife brought me home a 4-pack. Poured one into a 16 ounce pint glass I found in my cabinet from Red Hook brewery (circa 1994 maybe?) with about a 1/2 inch of head - hazy orange. Glass says "I toured the redhook brewery and learned about dry hopping....with my clothes on." Pineapple and some melon smell - far superior than whatever must have been poured into this glass originally. Flavor fills your mouth - Sweet. Feels good and bodied, like a beer should. Leaves a nice lace. Highly recommended.

No idea this place (Exhibit-A) was in Framingham, MA - will try to get down there for a visit.

Dated 4/19/18 "Dinner likes Canada" on the bottom of the can, 6 days old.

Pours an opaque dirty gold in the glass with two fingers of creamy off-white head. Nose starts off with soft tropical fruits, papaya, over-ripened mango, guava, pink grapefruit rind, earthy dankness, resin, sweet nutty malt and a slight pine. Taste follows the nose with a balanced mix of tropical fruit and earthy nutty tones, not as impactful as the nose. Additional notes of peach and melon in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a silky medium, going down incredibly easily. None of the 8% ABV detectable. Low dryness and bittering. Had this a few months ago, about a month old and the malt was a bit strong for me, but this one is wonderful. If I can get it fresh, it's a go to brew.

16oz can purchased at the brewery.

Not clear enough to read a newspaper through it though I think I can handle a bit of haze in this golden amber hued brew. Good looking froth on top does not seem to want to leave. Big fragrant juicy nose with suggestions of papaya, pineapple skin, hemp seeds, and orange pith. Incredibly smooth with a tight crispness, slight chewiness with the medium body. Big onslaught of hop flavor and bitterness but no so much that its a palate destroyer. Love the malt backbone as it stands up against the hop character and warming alcohol. Dangerously drinkable, a real pleasure to sip.

Pours clear, gold in color, with one inch head. Taste is big herb and mint with light tropical fruits. Goes between sweet and super bitter, super dry aftertaste, medium-heavy bodied with high carbonation. Interesting IPA. Keeps me curious about the brewery.

16 oz can served in a pint glass. The aroma on this is unmistakable: a carton of fresh grapefruit juice being poured. Well, perhaps even sweet orange juice. Beer is pale yellow, but insanely cloudy and murky. Maybe someday a beer that looks like this can be considered classically beautiful, but today is not that day. But if the aroma and appearance scream new england IPA, the flavor whispers "old school DIPA". Hoppy, alpha, and thoroughly bitter. But also malty, with a grainy flavor of unmalted barley. Impressive, original, and tasty, but not quite as drinkable as it could have been.
