From twelve ounce bottle freshness dated to September 2013.

Scent is bready and sweet. Pours deep ruddy brown with large beige head that lasted a moderate time. Head falls to light film with spotty lacing of glass.
Taste is initially sharp almost medicinal but quickly converts to s slightly sweet nutmeg clove vibe. a lot of roasted flavors, coffee. Hoppier than English versions I've sampled.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, like deeply stained wood with very little head, about a quarter of a finger of oatmeal colored foam that very quickly dissipated into a thin halo of foam that laced the glass.

Aroma: Lots of roasted malts and barley with some slightly burnt toast notes as well, and burnt sugar and toffee. Very, very pleasant.

Taste: Lots of roasted malts and barley, dark bread and toffee. Some black pepper and clove, and a slight nuttiness. Caramel. Delicious.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and smooth. Nice carbonation to tickle the sides of the tongue.

Overall: This is a very fine brown ale. I really liked the roastiness of the beer.

Appearance: Chestnut; medium tan head, not long lasting

Aroma: Malty, sweet; light coffee, molassas and toffee smells; light hops; overall, light aroma

Taste: Sweet juicy malt, but way too thin on the start; zippy carbonation in the mid through the end; semi-sweet finish with hint of nuttiness; not too noteworthy

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Smith English tulip pint.

a; Clear copper with a finger thick tan head which receded to even surface foam and patchy lacing.'

s; Caramel malt

t: Slight fruit notes over caramel malt. Some bitterness lingers a short time.

m: Light. Occasional watery feel.

o: A pretty good American brown, the fruit notes mellow out but keep it tasty.
