Style: English India Pale Ale (IPA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Plenty of IPAs will promise you the moon and the stars, looking to seduce you with words of smashing bitterness and hops everlasting. Actually, we're not here to "blow you away with a lupulin cannon," or "peel the enamel off your teeth." East IPA is a clean, drinkable IPA that's packed with flavor and offers a bold balance, not a smack in the head. American hops soar in the bright piney aroma, while East Kent Goldings hops bring the taste of stone fruits and firm bitterness from IPA's ancestral British home. Give our East IPA a try with some rich crab cakes or salmon, strike up a conversation with farmhouse cheddars, and find harmony alongside spicy dishes. East IPA's blend of tradition and exuberance sets the standard for hop-driven deliciousness.

Look: Golden to orange, decent head which faded pretty quickly.
Smell: Fruity hops (peach), also some grassy and resinous notes. Sweet malty aromas, giving a peach pie or candy-like aroma.
Taste: Aromatic hops, but no bitterness punch. Fruity flavours come first and leave a grassy aftertaste (nice in its way). Malt is definitely there with bread-like notes.
Feel: juicy, rich, and smooth, almost bordering on the oily/chewy. Not a beer to drink on a too full stomach. Quite strongly carbonated with a prickly sensation
Overall: juicy, smooth, aromatic... a true NEIPA, not the best I've had but overall good. A bit less body would help in my humble opinion.

355ml can.
L: Clear, caramel colour, couple of bubbles rising to a thin, soapy head.
S: Light malt, clean.
T: Solid, lightly sweet, malt base with bitter, autumn fruit & pine hops.
F: Best bit of this beer is the smooth mouthfeel. Medium body, rich coating on tongue, dry finish.
O: An American IPA with an English personality. Despite being very dry, it’s not a hop bomb. It’s rich and fruity. Beware the well hidden 6.9% ABV.

L. Mid-amber, crystal clear, pours with 1cm white head, slowly clearing to lacing.
S. Fresh with some citrus/conifer
T. Wow, takes an age to get beyond the initial impact. A wall of deep flavour. Deep resinous conifer, leaving dry aromatic 'zings' on the tongue and in the throat.
F. Much richer and more muscular than the three other Brooklyn beers I've had today. This one really leaves a clear and zinging alcohol singe-trail in my mouth. That's ok, I prefer some body and presence rather than glass after glass of anodyne over-hopped under-weight alternatives.
O. I don't think this is a thing of restrained elegant beauty to gently sip, it's a solid no nonsense very good beer to appreciate but get stuck into. Would make a nice 1st beer when off duty for the week, as part of a session.
Bought as part of an 8-pack of 4 types of Brooklyn beers, from Waitrose London.

Managed to try this at the Brooklyn brewery from the tap, which is much better than from the bottle.

Simply did not resonate with me. A full uneventful beer.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a snifter glass; best by November 2018.
A: Pours a crystal clear, orange amber color with a half inch, white head, low retention and little or no lacing.
S: Floral bouquet. Aromas of caramel and apple with a spicy note.
T: Palate largely follows the nose. Maybe a little corn sugar. Light bitterness leading to a refreshing finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with light to medium carbonation.
O: An enjoyable American-made version of the English Pale Ale style.

See through and golden with lots of bubbles and a thin white head. IPA scent of citric hops mixed with slight malt. Simple hops in the citrus area with some malt on the finish and some bite to the flavor. Decent carbonation but maybe a bit watery on the flavor.

From Club del Gourmet of El Corte Ingles. In Teku glass. Playing Avernum 3. More close to an american amber than an english IPA, has a delicious malty profile, with biscuity and resinous notes and perfect bitterness

Bought in a bottle at Wegmans. Golden. Taste is as faint as aroma. Only $9 for a 6pack but still wouldn't buy again unless it was fresh.
