Style: English India Pale Ale (IPA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Plenty of IPAs will promise you the moon and the stars, looking to seduce you with words of smashing bitterness and hops everlasting. Actually, we're not here to "blow you away with a lupulin cannon," or "peel the enamel off your teeth." East IPA is a clean, drinkable IPA that's packed with flavor and offers a bold balance, not a smack in the head. American hops soar in the bright piney aroma, while East Kent Goldings hops bring the taste of stone fruits and firm bitterness from IPA's ancestral British home. Give our East IPA a try with some rich crab cakes or salmon, strike up a conversation with farmhouse cheddars, and find harmony alongside spicy dishes. East IPA's blend of tradition and exuberance sets the standard for hop-driven deliciousness.

Bought in a bottle at Wegmans. Golden. Taste is as faint as aroma. Only $9 for a 6pack but still wouldn't buy again unless it was fresh.

Pours crystal clear, brass color with a copious all white foamy head that has some decent retention.

Aroma: good balance, spicy citric hops, rind along with bread malts.

Taste: Good drying hop flavor. Hops are mild for the style but they are definitely present, and at a level I personally prefer.
Nice, refreshing and easy to drink IPA.

Looks about a 12 on the SRM color index. Smells like tropical fruits, candied malt, fresh baked sour dough. Taste is hoppy and tangy with a quick caramel malt fade. As they state it is not a west coast style hop bomb. Comes together very well. Almost has a quality in it's finish like a lager.Refreshing, good carbonation. I would drink this again. Tastes like a high quality beer.

Excuse making aside, lets get into this East Coast/English IPA. Right away it comes out looking malty, looks like an amber ale with 1/2" off white head. Aroma is a slight EKG feel which is barely anything. Cool old world hops bro.

Taste, malty and slightly bitter. Your grandpa would probably check this out. Malty amber ale alert. Caramel for days. Grandpa's beer and grandma's candy. A slight amount of Cascade hopping peaks out giving it a little help in the bitterness and brings some grapefruit with it.

While the style is not my cup of tea (or anyone really other than hipster's hipsters) I also think its even tough to give a glowing review for it acknowledging even that.

Poured from a bottle to a pint
A - Clear gold on the dark side with a thin white head
S - Grapefruit hops of course but not exaggerated
T - Grapefruit still but tastes natural
M - Correctly carbonated
O - A good English IPA, nothing out of the ordinary
