The last Brooklyn brew that I had was the Sorachi Ace, a very nice one indeed, now being the middle of summer it was time to open up their Summer Ale.
Interestingly it smells rather like a pilsner, more specifically, a Czech lezák from Bohemia, which is very good. It was a bit different from what I expected, as it wasn’t your typical pale ale or your session IPA. It also tasted quite fruity but not really as your average ales do but rather like a hoppy lager.
And this is it, actually it was somewhere between an ale and a lager. The feel was smooth like an ale and rounder, fruitier, maltier but the lightness of the character, its hoppy and yeasty thing to it made it taste like a decent lager or rather a good pilsner.
Well, as I love pilsners, I quite liked this one too. It went perfectly well with some corn on cob on a hot and humid summer night.

Can't give this one anything better than a 3. It's light and refreshing which fits the basic definition of a summer ale but it doesn't prove much in flavor or smell. It's an easy drinker and would go well at a BBQ but it's definitely not memorable.

Brooklyn Summer is one of the beers I like the most from this brewery.
It is light, without being vacant of flavor! It has a citrus-ee note but not like Sam Adams.
It is smoother and more refined than Sam's Summer Ale - especially on the finish!
The mouth-feel is alive and bright - like a lager.
This pairs well with grilled veggies and lighter fare - chicken/fish. Not that I would throw it away if having it with a burger or steak :o)
So far..this is one of my favorite beer surprises this summer season!

Eeeh... It's beer. A blond alte style that is basically dull and problematic that is modestly improved by a slight wheat addition. Curious as to why a brewery the caliber such as Brookly would even bother. The beer pours a brightly colored straw with active carbonation that is held below 7-up status by the wheat texture. Smells half malty, half grainy and with a light lemon-gass note. The flavors closely mimic the aromas with emphasis on the light malts. The feel is light, and kept from watery by the wheat additions. Fairly clean and crisp in the finish with a light grain-hust astringecy and hoppiness. It's a fine hot-weather brew, but does not inspire any deep thoughts or contemplation.

A summer ale that isn't a pale wheat ale or fruit beer??? Unbelievable. I really enjoyed this beer I must say, one of my favorite summer seasonals now. Pours a nice pale golden color, small head to it, not much for lacing or bubbles. Can smell the nice hops and malts as you're pouring it.. excellent. This is a very crisp, refreshing beer. Very well balanced and nice solid mouthfeel with a light body perfect on a hot day. One of the more thirst quenching beers I've tried.. I enjoyed this one a lot, nothing too special but just a solid beer.

A: Straw yellow with an average white head. Decent lacing and head retention.

S: Light citrus hops, bready malts with a faint honey smell.

T: Very similar to the aroma. Light bready malt with a slight honey like sweetness. A bit of mild citrus hops, great balance. Finishes crisp and refreshing with a kiss of herbal hops.

M: Lighter body, moderate carbonation. Very appropriate for the style.

O: An easy drinking summer ale. I could drink plenty of these.

Little bit of the bread yeast type smell and flavor going on and MAYBE just a hint of grassy hops , not much of either.

Certainly crushable easy drinking beer but is it worth twice what a macro lager cost ? Not really , pretty much a macro lager with a slight hint of flavor.

Pours amber with a quickly fading head.
Nose shows some soft floral and spicy notes but very faint. Also a little malt and vegetal notes underneath.
Flavours are a bit better with some attractive malt and more spicy hops. Very light.
Feels a bit watery.

A - dark for a pale ale, with big bubbles and a very thin head comprised of oversized white bubbles.
S - very light. Pleasant but non descript
T - Uncomplicated citrus is not bitter, not sweet, finishes clean.
M - Lightly coats, with zing from the bubbles. Perhaps the best part of this beer!
D - Goes down easy on a hot day.

Pours a clear, medium gold with a 1-finger white head. Minimal lacing.

The smell is grassy with some hops and fruits. The taste is bready, some slightly bitter hops, citrus, and herbal quality. The mouthfeel is crisp, carbonated.

This is a very sessionable beer, and would be great on a hot day.
