Brewed by:
Brooklyn Brewery
New York, United States

Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, the beer reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Chill hazed brown colored ale with a small tan colored head.

Smell is sweet and spicy with a lot of brown sugar and a faint sour edge. To say this beer is aromatic is an under statement, it is sitting an arms length away on the table and I can smell it from here. Lots of malt and caramel and a fainter spice apple cider aroma. No hop aroma but a fairly strong scent of dates.

Starts out sweet with a wheat toast with applesauce flavor. Lots of brown sugar flavor with some cinnamon toast flavor. No real bitterness just a slight herbal hop flavor.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall a tasty ale that doesn't give the slightest hint that it is a 9% ABV.

A-Deep amber red, two finger light foamy head. Very carbonated.

S-Raisins, dark fruits some roasted malts.

T-Some raisins and dark fruits. Drank more like a carbonated Dubbel to me, but still good.

M-Light and Very Carbonated.

O-Brought to thanksgiving dinner and it went over well, a few of the wine drinkers appreciated, it. Brooklyn's Big Bottle Series is always a great choice to bring along to defeat the stigma of "beer".
