12 oz bottle, water glass

A – Light to medium-light gold, and moderately hazy. A thin layer of bright white head with fairly low retention.

S – Very peppery, with a sharp lemon-lime aroma, along with flowers and perhaps fresh-cut grass. Flour and uncooked bread dough.

T – Lemon and some peppery spice, a low but sharp hop bite on the finish. Flour malt. Some low floral notes.

M – High carbonation, somewhat sudsy, and dry throughout. No real impression of sweetness, and only mild hop bitterness, mostly on the finish. Very balanced.

O – The hops used here really are perfect for a saison, blending well with the peppery notes of the Belgian yeast. A really enjoyable take on the farmhouse ale.

I haven't been a fan of this style until I tried Sorachi Ace. Poured into a large Cab wine glass it produced a nice white head over a hazy yellow colored brew which dissipated slowly with a lot of lacing left in the glass. Aromas of cut grass, lemon, wintergreen, cardamon, cinnamon and clove. Initially there was a sweet sour taste followed by a pleasant spicy tartness that lingered with a light but substantial mouth feel. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this Saison/Farmhouse ale.

Bright yellow brew topped with a moderate white head with good retention.

Aroma is fairly neutral; I'm drawing nearly nothing out of it cold, save a touch of yeast.

Flavor is unimpressive. Yeast esters are front and center, and while there's a bright citrus note lurking in the background, it's far lighter than I would expect or prefer.

Feel is excellent; impressive drinkability, lively without too much bite, medium-light bodied.

I wonder if the keg was old, because the ratings for this beer are quite high, but I just don't get it. It's got almost nothing that I want out of a Saison, and the Sorachi Ace hops didn't add anything notable to the experience.
