Got a bottle from Petschens, and very happy with Brooklyn again. Hazy shimmering gold beer with a lingering white head. Drank it the same day I bought it, so didn't let it settle out, so I may be the cause of the hazy part. Gorgeous complex lemongrass, citrus nose and strong peppery spice that is clean and multi-layered at the same time. Carbon tang on the tongue and the yeast and spice fills the mouth fully. Dry finished that accents the hops. Brewed with rare Japanese Sorachi hops (according to the website), the lemony character is intrinsic to the hop. I'm a fan and would love to get some more of this beer.

Been after this one for a while.

Pours a hazy gold with two fingers of white head. Excellent retention and lacing down to the last sip. Stunning looking beer. Big lemongrass, vanilla and spice nose. Fresh and complex at the same time. Clean pilsner malt base forms the launching pad for a symphony of flavours, with grass and lemon coming through strong. A powerful vanilla oakiness almost makes this feel barrel aged, and takes it to the next level. The sorachi has an excellent character, which is nicely showcased in this brew. Dry, medium bodied and with a billowy carbonation. Nigh on perfect.

Thanks to Troy for sharing this gem.

A: Super pale. Huge head and some decent lacing.

S: Amazing. I've never smelled anything like this from a beer before. Lavender, lemon oil, apricots, wax.

T: The lemongrass flavor dominates everything. There are some decent grainy malt and orange citrus notes to not make this so one-dimensional. Reminds me of a amped up witbier mixed with a saison.

M: Bubbly, quaffable. A real big flavor with a light body.

O: This one is flat out great. The best Brooklyn beer I've had so far. This one is more expensive than the Local 1/2 though so who knows when I'll buy this again.

Are you telling me that there's lemon or other citrus in it? Just hops?? This is definitely unique beer

Appearance: A slightly too-rough pour reveals a pale straw colored beer, somewhat cloudy, capped by a massive white head. The head persists for a while, and leaves rings of white lacing as I work my way through the glass.

Smell: Lemons are front and center, but they are capably joined by black pepper, a mild funk and a faint hint of bubble gum.

Taste: Wow, this is a keeper. The thing that most strikes me about the beer is that it’s a coherent package – the lemons from the hops continue to be featured, but everything works together so well that you don’t think “oh, a lemon beer.” Aside from the lemon, there’s a certain earthiness and grassiness, as well as traditional Belgian spice. It all works exceptionally well together.

Mouthfeel: Very light and crisp, with relatively high carbonation. Again, it just works.

Drinkability: Quite high; I’d characterize it as sessionable but the ABV is just a tad high for that. Still, this is going to become a part of my regular rotation. Just exceptional.

Appearance: Hazy yellow ochre with huge off white head with amazing retention, leaving some thick patches of lace. The head is meringue like in texture and likes to form mountains and craters.

Aroma: Yeasty, rich lemon pie and zest, some lemongrass.

Taste: Yeasty, rich lemon pie and zest, some lemongrass. Hints of orange and sweet grapefruit. Some pepper. Very prickly but refined hop behaviour. A little tartness balances the modest sweetness. Abv well hidden.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, moderately dry. That prickly hop sensation is very enjoyable. Very crisp and refreshing from the champagne yeast.

Drinkability: A very nice beer that showcases the unusual flavours of the sorachi ace hop. Worth buying a second bottle to age.

400th review. 750ml bottle poured into a pilsner glass.

A - Effervescent and slightly hazy pale golden coloration. Huge bubbly head displayed some good staying power.

S - Quite hoppy, smells like a fresh IPA. Yeast and lemon notes are also present, but are easily dominated.

T - Perfume on the tongue, and a little like champagne, but that could be psychological knowing which yeast is used. Pepper and lemon peel make up the profile, with a floral finish.

M - Crisp light body, sharp carbonation that works very well here. Finish is dry.

D - Slightly odd, but overall a fantastic beer. A hybrid of sorts, but simply superb. I've got to get another one of these before they're gone. If you see one, don't hesitate. Well worth the twelve or thirteen dollars.

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a Brooklyn Brewery tulip glass. It pours a beautiful slightly hazy straw color with a thick bright white head that settles into a thin cap.

The smell is lemon citrus with a hint of grass. These is a slight pleasant funk. The taste reminds me of being in a field on a summer morning. There is a light sweetness at the start with a blast of lemon from the hops and some fruitiness. The finish is clean, dry and refreshing. There's a hint of a pepper with pleasant alcohol warmth. This is an excellent beer.

Lemony spicy nose with light fruit and traces of pepper, light grains and white bread. Pours hazy gold under a 1” white long lasting fluffy head with very uniform, fine bubbles that produce classic cathedral window lacing. A spicy lemony peach palate with traces of white bread lingers. Finishes slightly dry with a bitter hop accent. Creamy full to medium full body and mouth feel, medium high carbonation, effervescent. Well balanced and refreshing.
