A: Hazy golden in color. Lots of bubbly carbonation and huge, soapy white head that has staying power...has tons of nooks and cranies. Great looking texture. Once the head finally retreats into the beer, there's a pretty thick film and lots sticky lacing. Great looking beer.

S: Zesty lemon, bretty funk, Belgian yeast, pear/apple like fruit. Pleasant.

T: Lemom and yeast are the first things I notice followed by a subtle pear like flavor.

M: Dry and tingly from the heavy carbonation.

O: Very drinkable in spite of its dry quality. Not the best saison I've ever had, but still pretty good. I would definately buy this again..if only to admire its appearance.

A: Pours a hazy golden blond color with a foamy 3-4 finger head that sticks around for a while. Carbonation is seem rising up the sides of the tulip glass. After waiting a few minutes, the head has mostly dissipated to a generous and thick lacing.

S: Lemon zest is right up front with no other major scents detectable. There is a slights smell of yeast and funkiness. There's almost a slight straw sensation as well.

T: Mostly the same as the smell, with the Sorachi Hops dominating. The lemon hoppy-ness is complemented by spices and a faint bready maltiness.

M: Very crisp, yet slightly carbonated on the mouthfeel. Not overwhelmingly carbonated, just enough to add to the crispiness without taking too much away.

D: Very drinkable, this is a great summer beer for those that enjoy some carbonation to mix it up once in a while.

A - pours a nice golden color with a good amount of head on it, about a fingers and a half worth. nice amount of carbonation.

S - this has a nice, crisp, clean floral smell to it. Not a big hoppy smell but a very even pleasant scent to it.

T - nice bitter, floral taste to it. The hops aren't overdone with this but the presence resembles that of an IPA rather than a saison. Not a whole lot of flavor to it but easy to drink and pretty smooth and light. Picked up a small taste of orange peel near the back of the tongue. Really enjoyable tasting.

M - dry finish with a lingering bitterness to it. no flavor lingers around but the aftertaste is enjoyable.

O - not a bad beer by any means but feel its kind of average in the realm of saisons. I've had better but I've had worse. I would still drink this again on hot summer days. Would definitely purchase again. Wish there was a little more flavor to this.

Pours a cloudy dark straw, with a strong frothy head that billows over the top of the glass.
Smells of nice mild hops, that are extremely appetizing.
Taste is citrusy, but also has a good amount of alcohol bite.
The bite is not overwhelming, and the taste from the sugars is so well balanced by the hops.
This is a fantastic saison, and I would recommend it to anyone!

A: Super pale. Huge head and some decent lacing.

S: Amazing. I've never smelled anything like this from a beer before. Lavender, lemon oil, apricots, wax.

T: The lemongrass flavor dominates everything. There are some decent grainy malt and orange citrus notes to not make this so one-dimensional. Reminds me of a amped up witbier mixed with a saison.

M: Bubbly, quaffable. A real big flavor with a light body.

O: This one is flat out great. The best Brooklyn beer I've had so far. This one is more expensive than the Local 1/2 though so who knows when I'll buy this again.

Pours cloudy lemon yellow with a big sticky white head. Aroma is ok, a little lemon, little funk from the new hops I think. The taste follows but more amped up. Nice clean lemony/citrus flavor which follows with a almost sake flavored finish. Its very unique and very good. Very refreshing and easy to drink. This Sorachi hops might not be for everyone, but I think its a great addition for this style.

Paired with a simple fish at Black Market dinner with Garrett Oliver.

I think this is the perfect use of this hop. The lemon with the spiciness of the saison was great. Mostly lemon in smell, with some dill flavor as well. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall a nice twist to a standard saison. Very balanced and drinkable.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter glass. 7.2% abv

Appearance- Pours a deep honey yellow with a large white head with strong retention. Much lacing. Intermediate clarity.

Smell- Belgian yeast, honey, floral, pineapple.

Taste- Begins grassy, with a touch of lemon. Has a white grape like quality to it, yet has a bit of grapefruit in there as well from the hop flavor. Even a tad bit of coconut flavor, similar to a soapy estery type taste. Beer finishes bitter and dry with a lingering spiciness from the hops and subtle pepper spice notes.

Mouthfeel- Medium in body with active carbonation.

Overall- This beer was very interesting. Had some good flavors, yet some flavor clashes with the esters in my opinion. Not bad though. Just not your typical saison. A loaded with hops saison.

Lucky me, this is the 3rd time I've had the opportunity at this beer. I want to get as much of this as I can before it slips through summers fingers.

A- Pours a bright clear golden color with a bunch of medium bubbles clinging all over the pint glass. A good 1 inch bright white foamy head which quickly transforms into a white ring. Looks refreshing.

S- It smells just like the Stone-Mikkeler- Alesmith collaboration to me. Light belgian sugary, touch of citrus, hint of butter, herbal notes, and a twinge of alcohol.

T- Those herbal notes come out like gang busters, and quickly reinforced with the lemony zest. That zestiness remains and coats the tongue. That zest has a bitter grapefruit hint at the end. Starts herbal, but clearly the lemon/citrus owns this palate.

M- Mild bodied with mild crisp carbonation, does not finish as dry as I would have liked, but overall good.

D- MMM-mmm is all I have to say. This is a great beer that will define this summers beer for me. This is a tasty, refreshing brew that I will continue to seek out as much as possible. I will say that Farmhouse is a loose style, I would never have guessed this to be one.

This one pours a hazy deep gold with two fingers of tight, white-frothy head that settles gradually. The aroma is bright and refreshing with notes of lemon zest and a crisp, crackery malt backbone. Notes of herbs and earth lie faint in the background. The flavor is dry and clean, with a crisp, light-bodied mouthfeel. Some appropriate astringency hits on the back of the palate with each swallow. Sorachi Ace is a uniquely refreshing example of a style I'm still learning to appreciate.

From notes: I have to admit, in lieu of a tulip, the Sam Adams glass does justice to these nicer beers. Poured from a 750.

A- Pours with a nice, golden, foggy body. A strong three finger billowing uneven head with nice lacing.

S- Lemon, zesty, grassy, hoppy. Strong and pleasant in the nose.

T- Has a bit of bite, attributed to phenols, maybe? The lemon taste is apparent and yeast is noticed as well. Very weak malt profile.

M- High carbonation but not unpleasant. Smooth otherwise, with a slight alcohol feel in the back.

D- Very good beer, but certainly not a sessioner.

Light gold pour. Quick dissipating white slight head. Lemon grass, malt, yeast aroma. Totally interesting taste. Definitely a unique taste like saison. Great champagne carbonation.. Light mouth feel. Try it, you'll like it!

750 ml bottle poured into tulip

A: 3.75 Lightly golden, very clear in color. Pours with 3 fingers of head that reduces within 1 minute.
S: 3.5 Most of what makes it through in the smell for me is pine, and a little bit of citrus.
T: 4.25 First is the pine, followed by a mellow citrus. A dry finish leaves a lingering sweetness.
M: 4.0 Very smooth and silky. Carb level is high, which is expected for being "100% bottle refermented ale".
O: 4.0 This beer doesn't have a lot of depth to it, but even being near 1 dimensional it is still very enjoyable. The forefront aroma and flavor of the pine characteristics linger for quite some time after finishing. I would definitely have this again.

Brooklyn Sorachi Ace Saison/Farmhouse Ale 7.6% poured into a St Feuillien Oversized wine glass.
Simple but elegant design with the Ace of diamonds and Brooklyn "B" in the center of mid label.

A- This beer pours a beautiful hazed light golden fluid with one hell of a inch and a half white head that is fluffy and stays around for the whole duration of the beer. Massive sticky lacing clings to the glass on all sides... excellent.

S- Where do i start? The first thing I smell is no doubt the Sorachi with a tangy fresh cut grass and lemongrass scent. In the backbone is a nice chalky yeast that slightly stings the nose.

T-M- Taste is quite pleasant for the alcohol this Farmhouse is packing... A warm tangy and lightly metallic lemongrass dominates with undertones of sweet malts and yeast. A good brew in the aspect of excellent mixing of styles. Saison and a foreign hop variety equals interesting flavors. Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly astringent but with a light carbonation that just melds beautifully with the taste buds.

D- In drink this beer I realized that I could easily drink another 750ml and at 7.6% that is an excellent aspect of drinkablity... cheers!

A big thanks to erikkoppin for hooking me up on a trade!

A- Poured hazy, yellow. Large fluffy head that left lots of lacing on the glass.

S- Lots of lemony, citrus up front. Some spice towards the end. Very inviting beer from the nose.

T- Citrus taste at the front of the drink. Some spice and tartness towards the end. Lots of flavors in the middle do seem to make it complex. Flavors are very balanced and make you want to keep drinking trying to figure them all out.

M- Lighter body with good carbonation. Some bitterness towards the end with a little dry finish.

D- Very tasty beer. I could have easily drank another one, maybe two tonight. Every drink made me want another. Very solid beer, wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I saw one.

Pours a hazy straw yellow with a big bubbly white head. Sticky and super thick. Leaves big billowing lacing. Aromas of Belgian yeast, white bread, lemon, black pepper and earthy hops. Inviting scents. The taste begins a bit watery, then has an odd lemony hop mixed with stale bread. The middle is a moderately bitter hop followed by a peppery spice and yeast blend. Mouthfeel is highly effervescent and full bodied. Blended well enough to be easy drinking yet full flavored. very dry finish.
A nice beer but the hop was more aroma than flavor. I'll try a fresher bottle again. Couldn't find a date anywhere on this guy

Pours light orange color with 1 inch white head that disappears rather quickly.

Aroma is slightly muffled. I get primarily a yeastiness and a slight hay note. Some citrus, mostly lemon.

Taste melds the major flavors of lemon, lemongrass, bitter green tea, mild peach, and a present earthy yeast note. Definitely taste the unique hop flavor. It reminds me of a unsweetened, concentrated green tea mixed in. The finish is very dry with ample carbonation throughout.

The beer is definitely unique and very drinkable. The only downside I see is the overly dry finish. It makes the beer seem uneven and doesn't invite the desire for another sip. The actual flavor though is great and unique! I see this pairing well with a chilled udon noodle salad with sesame, green tea vinaigrette. It gets a 89/100.

Thanks to mjn5036 for hooking me up with this one. It wasn't on my wants list but I really thought it was.

Looks like opaque guava nectar in the glass. A good sizable white head recedes to a full cap that never disappears. Spotty lacing looks pretty good.

Smells very hoppy for a saison. Sweet tropical fruits and lemon zest make this a unique one for sure.

Very low on the funk factor, this bad boy is high on the grapefruit. Low malts make this crisp and refreshing.

Low soft carbonation, thin body, and clean finish are all great!

I would definitely drink this one again. Its not typical of the style, but highly enjoyable none the less. Highly recommended.

Poured a clear yellow color with a huge white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Smells of citrus, lemongrass and Belbian yeast. Tastes of tangerine, lemon, lemongrass, banana, bubble gum and spices. A little sweet for the style. Well carbonated, light bodied, smooth and crisp.

At George Keely's had to try the new Garret special and any farmhouse ale I'm game for. Serived in in a tulip glass.

A:Hazey golden two finger tight retention head and sticky lace.

S: The nose gave off a spicy hoppy smell with candy caramels following in the distant background.

M: Medium to thicker body with a mouthfeel of tart/astrigent with high carbonation.

T: Your mouth gets a relaxed malt at first and then is stung with the various spices, corriander and clove coming to mind perhaps. You will detect the citrus theme along with slight toasted bready and grassy flavor. The yeast strain is very interesting with full body but moving more the to acidic side.

D: Spicey farmhouse ale that you will find from others but still has the body with hops which I'm not sure which and a strong malt backbone. Something I look forward to trying again.

C&C 750 mL ~ Classy looking bottle.

Appearance- Poured into an etched glass. Light slightly hazy golden color with a huge rocky bone white head. Tons of active carbonation, insane head retention and lacing. Stunning! Perfect 5.

Smell- Lots of lemon on the nose. A lot of grass and hay. A bit tart. Very earthy, some barnyard, a whiff of funk.

Taste- Filthy good! Tons of lemon/lemon grass on the tounge, the Sorachi's are doing their job, Well. There is some tart green apple and orange rind. Under that is a dry hay like quality and some very slight funky notes. Barnyard and some leather; a faint peppery spice as well. The bottle refermented Champagne yeast is adding additional fruity flavor, as well as drying this out and making it extremely crisp.

Mouthfeel- High carbonation, but the body is still medium. Very nice. A tad tart on the sides of the tounge.

Overall- God damn this is a fine beer. The Champagne refermentation is an awsome concept for this style. I am still waiting for my first perfect 5.0 beer, but this is the closest I have found! Its to bad this is a very limited beer.

750ml bottle poured into my mug(only thing I had at the time)

Appearance is a light yellow with a bit of light orange. Good two and and a half inch white fizzy head with great head retention. Good amounts of lacing is left behind.

Surprisingly this smells a bit more like a Belgian Pale Ale to me. I get a decent lemon citrus smell with some orange coriander and a bit of grass/earthy herbal smell. Some yeast and bit of hay like smell as well.

Taste upfront is very crisp with a lemon citrus taste with a bit of orange coriander backing it up. Midway a bit of a grass/herbal taste shows up with some yeast and cracker like taste finishing it off.

Medium bodied with high carbonation. Very crisp and clean taste that is refreshing and drinks mellow for a Saison.

I thought this was a bit non-traditional like Saison flavor, yet I liked what they did. Overall I would drink this again and recommend it.

Thanks to makdeco for including this as an extra in our trade a while ago.

Pours a hazy straw yellow with a billowing more-than-half-the-tulip pure white foamy head. Head is very light and fluffy, retains really well, but is impossible to control. Swirling the beer results in the liquid moving a little bit, but the top of the head not really moving at all - it is firmly anchored to the glass. Really static looking beer, and the color combined with the head make it a nice looking beer.

A touch of yeast, some mellow lemon citrus, and a perfume-like floral aroma make this a soft, but effective, nose. Perfume aspect is kind of tough to describe; it smells exactly like the perfume my mom used to wear when I was kid and I would complain that she was stinking up the car. It's a nice scent in moderation though, and that's the way it is in this beer. Grassy lemon is sweet and simple. Very well done.

Citrus kick at the start is soothing, and moves effortlessly into a brief hop bitterness and mellow yeasty middle. Perfect blend of flavors. The finish isn't bone dry, but it is on the dry side which is nice. I wish all the flavors were a bit stronger, but the balance and melding of flavors is spectacular anyways.

Mouthfeel is a strength for this beer, as it is incredibly light, a touch prickly, but smooth and crisp the whole way through. Dry finish is the cherry on top. Drinkability benefits from the incredible balance and mouthfeel and the perfect hiding of the abv; I'm having trouble making this 750ml bottle last even an hour. I enjoyed this beer immensely - thanks again makdeco.

Whoa this beer is interesting as fuck. Complex. Grassy? But not in a bad way? These Sorachi Ace hops have such a novel, earthy profile. Also: a nice big effervescent head; great aromas and color. (RE: "grassy" -- but more like… "lemongrassy".)
