Brooklyn Naranjito is a classic American pale ale pushed a tiny bit further. An extra burst of aromatic hops and a sizable helping of sweet orange peel create just the right pop of citrus. It elevates your favorite meals, brightens spices, and proves what a little orange can do.

Sampled on draft 5/1/10. This is the 'keep the glass' draft special at Winking Lizard this month. The 24 oz. Brooklyn mug it came in is excellent!

Pours very nice, large small bubbled white head with a clear golden amber body. Smell is citrusy, can definitely detect some orange. Also, a bit wheaty? Taste is milder hops, a little pineapple, and a slight bit of orange peel. This beer feels great carbonated-wise, but the citric acid squashes a bit of the hops and overall flavor, imo. Finishes dry, and slightly sticky and sweet. Good.

11/23/19....clear gold, fast fizzy white foam. Large bubbles settle quiety and quickly. Citrus and orange nose, heavy orange peel. Light bodied taste, some bitter. Orange overlay. Pulpy mouthfeel. So so.

It pours a clear, bright golden body. Small white head with poor retention.

It has a sweet aroma of orange, grapefruit and piney hops.

The taste follows the smell; orange, grapefruit and piney hops. The finish is dry. The mouthfeel is light bodied, with average bitterness, average carbonation and medium sweetness.

A refreshing and well balanced pale ale.

Naranjito | Brooklyn Brewery. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this has a two finger thick head, with spotty lacing, and a medium gold body.

I smell light citrus zest with zippy hops and bread-y malts.

Tastes also like light citrus zest, zippy hops, and bread-y malts. Clean and smooth finish.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

I'll choose to rate Naranjito | Brooklyn Brewery with an overall 4.

A 355ml bottle with a BB of May 2019. Purchased a little while back from Morrisons. The label calls it an orange pale ale.

A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A hazy amber colour with plentiful carbonation and some chunky floating sediment. Produces a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before collapsing and dissipating.

S: Aroma of fruity orange zest with hints of citrussy hops, leafiness, a touch of resin, herbs, grainy malt, earthiness and ale yeast. Balanced and rather nice.

T: Tastes of citrus zest with notes of peel, orange, mild grapefruit, light pine resin, leafiness, subtle herbs, grainy malt, earthiness and ale yeast. Pretty dry, followed by a substantial hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and decent body for the strength. Lightly astringent. Aftertaste of citrus zest, orange, leafiness, mild resin, grain and earthy yeast.

O: A tasty, refreshing brew. Looks OK; shame about the head retention. Aroma and flavour are a satisfying blend of citrus zest, leafy hops, mild resin, grainy malt and ale yeast. Body is alright. Goes down easily enough - would be perfect on a hot day. Worth sampling.

Dollar bargain bin from dry tavern. A nice refreshing beer. Ends a little funny, but not that bad. A good average beer. Doesn't stand out though above the rest.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 7/2/2018. Pours fairly cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, wood, pine, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, orange peel, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, wood, pine, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, wood, pine, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, orange peel, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body, with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an excellence fruited American pale ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, orange peel, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great Simcoe profile with the orange peels. Very juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hops/fruit; nice pale malt backbone for the ABV, with no residual sweetness from crisp/resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example as expected of the brewery.

355ml bottle.
L: Pale orange, light haze, almost no head and couple spots of lacing.
S: Bitter orange but faint, not as strong as I expected.
T: A spritz of Seville orange. Very light bitterness.
F: Very light, a bit thin, almost watery.
O: A bland, very ordinary, pale ale slightly enhanced by the addition of orange zest. The disappointing base ale is the weak link in this concept.

355ml bottle from Morrison's supermarket (£1.75):
An interesting beer initially from Brooklyn with the citrus & orange nose grabbing my attention but these weren't as strong come the taste sadly & the beer could definitely have been stronger at this point. It was an easy beer to drink & one that reminded me of Brooklyn's Scorcher IPA that I've had quite a few times in the last few months. This one is a beer that I'd happily opt for on a night out & it goes down well, although I'm not sure it's distinct enough from the crowd to make it worth seeking out on its own.
