Serving: Keg

A: Light-medium straw color, medium-high carbonation. Light-medium head.

S: Citrusy hop aroma.

T: With very light maltiness, the hop flavor combination is focused of grapefruit and rose pedals (citrus/flower) on my palette are worth the price of admission. Very clean, crisp and refreshing the way a Pilsner should be.

O: Very good. The mild flavors and aromas of this style of beer are difficult and time consuming for Home Brewers to produce, so I will leave it to the pro$.

Comes in a crystal clear, pale straw color. Topped by a foamy white head that dies soon, but leaves a thin head and splatters of lacing down the glass.

The smell is more faint and delicate than most pilsners, but not necessarily in a bad way. Grass, mint, cracker, green apple, underripe pear, honeydew melon, cucumber, clover, straw.

Upfront, there's lemon, seltzer water, pear, green apple. On the mid-palate, cracker, mint, cucumber, green pepper. On the finish, a more biscuit malt sweetness. The aftertaste is fairly brief, but there is grass, white pepper, and lemon peel.

The mouthfeel is very light, kind of watery, but quite spritzy.

A crushable and thirst-quenching pilsner, but nothing pungent going on, either. A decent but unremarkable pils.

Brooklyn Pilsner from Brooklyn Brewery is a very simple pilsner. Brooklyn seems to be doing an overhaul on most of their products. The picture is very old. Since that pic, Brooklyn pilsner has gone through two packaging changes. Now back to the beer. A nice straw color with a nice foam head. The smell is far from over powering , as it should be. The taste is simple, as it should be for the most part. A very good beer from one of my favorite breweries ! I will drink this again. Can we please do something in regards to updating the picture? Is there any way to do that?

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a straw color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is grassy, malts. Taste is the same. Crisp, refreshing, malts, grassy, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer, a standard pilsner.

This beer pours a very clear straw with a fairly large head. The aroma is heavily tilted toward light crackery malts, with just a hint of white pepper and moss from the classic hops. The is again dominated by the very light, very crisp crackery malts, with mild bitterness and flavors of pepper, thyme, and twig coming through at the end. The mouthfeel is utterly crisp with a fair amount of lackadaisical small bubble carbonation. Overall this beer does nothing wrong, but it really fails to capture my interest. The lazy carbonation's stops it from being in truly crisp, refreshing territory, but there is not enough body or hop presence to put in in the category of complexity.

This is a really pleasant pilsner with a solid, assertive flavor that is a touch above for the style. Pours a light bright straw color with a nice clean aroma of cereal grains and mild hops, and has a good level of carbonation.

Not my favorite pilsner, overall a little bitter for what I'm looking for in a pilsner. Had a fresh malt/cereal and grassy smell. Very light gold color. The taste was bready and the hops added a little to much bitterness and monotone mineral taste.

Not a fan of this one. The look and smell of this beer are not much different than a Miller Lite. The taste is on the bitter side. Would much rather drink a Hefeweizen. I like my beers cloudy.

Pours a clear golden straw with a thick white foamy head. The nose was grainy with subtle spicy noble hops. The taste followed with grain, cracker, bread and a nice floral and spicy hoppy bitterness. Clean finish. No diacetyl. Very nice.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter glass. 5.1% abv

Appearance- Pours a medium yellow with fluffy two finger head. Lively carbonation and crystal clear in clarity.

Smell- Lightly toasted malt, sweet bread, with hints of orange peel.

Taste- Fresh grains along with baked bread begin the flavor profile. Very dry malty taste. A bit of orange citris kicks in later, coming to a peppery finish with a touch of bitterness. Grainy throughout.

Mouthfeel- Medium-thin in body with pronounced carbonation.

Overall- A fine example of a pilsner. Not overly tasteful, but then again this is a light style characteristic of such. Good flavor blends of citris and malt however. Due to the thinness in body, makes this beer a thirst quencher.

For an American Pilsner I do not believe I have found better. If you want to introduce someone to better beer this is a great way to start. Perfectly balanced easy drinking beer.

Bottle pour. Pours a golden yellow with a minimal head. Pretty good. Not quite as good as the German and Czech pilsners, but a very good beer. I would not hesitate to get this again.

12 oz. bottle poured into pilsener
(best by October 2015 printed on bottleneck)

L: cloudy yellow-gold, 1-inch head of offwhite foam ... dark foam for a pilsener; in fact, dark all-around for a pils ... the brew is borderline gold (though shows no amber); nice bit of sticking at top of head; clears up quickly, showing a nice river of bubbles flying up the middle of the column; no lacing but pretty thick off-white collar and beautiful light skin on top as the bubbles churn and churn to the top

S: very grainy, some cracker, hint of lemon ... something quite sweet ... lightest hint of grass hops that have a lemon-peel/citrus leaning; really sweetens out halfway in, getting closer to bready malt yet still with a slight tart citrus note in it

T: nice grain and earth hop mix with some cracker-malt flavor adding some sweetness ... the hops give off a perfect little bite, not overly bitter but enough to dance off the sweet malt and grain flavor; almost citrusy/lemon tart at times ... even orange the way it mixes with the sweetness

F: crisp, light, easy to drink but not watery

O: wonderful stab at one of my favorite styles with plenty of hop and malt flavor, neither overpowering the brew; the malt sweetness isn't the full Old World bready kind, but it's enough to tame the hop bite and make the brew quite tasty. arguably a unique mix of flavors yet all of them are well within the borders of the style without expanding into an overly hopped-up Americanized version. I'll be drinking this at least a few times a year. great brew!

This brew pours a solid straw color with a small white fluffy head. There is good lacing for a Pilsner and lots of carbonation.

The smell is soapy and sudsy. There is a sweet malt and spice presence as well, poss. coriander and/or grains of paradise.

The taste does not give as much as the smell promised with a kind of bland, dry taste. There is some sweet malt and spice as well as a crisp clean taste mixed with spicy hops however everything seems to blend together with nothing really coming to the forefront. The feel is thin and slightly creamy.

Overall, this is not a very exciting Pilsner.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle that says BB Feb 2015. Sampled on March 6, 2015.

The pour is straw yellow with good clarity and a lingering white foamy head.

The aroma is typical of a pilsener with maybe a slight apple thing along with the grains and grassy hops.

Body is light.

The flavor almost comes across as syrupy in its grainy and grassy character. Maybe that was the texture but I just seemed juicy. I'd drink it again on a hot day.

Being partly from Brooklyn, I want always to love this brewer (good) and six points. (Great!) (even tho many of their beers are made under license upstate I've heard).

This pilsner is great standout from Brooklyn that matches the Crisp, Smuttynose, and Full Sail for excellence.

A: Long lasting creamy ivory head and lacing for a pilsner over a slightly more honeyed/darker body. Wins on looks!

S: Deep, complex, floral, herbal and a bit gentle hop fruity.

T: Follows smell with base of cracker malt followed by full delivery of all that's offered in aroma.

F: Also gets high honors - with creamy medium feel for a pils. Agree with reviewer: "I wouldn't change a thing...my favorite offering to date from this brewery."

Must try!

A nice clear, no haze, straw color. Clean crisp taste with hints of sweetness. Good dry finish that rolls off the palate. Head is a bright white and the aroma has notes of noble hops like a good pilsener should. Fantastic carbonation.

What's not to love about a great Pilsner. Grassy and herbaceous on the nose, crisp, refreshing and easy to drink. This is close to a benchmark American Pilsner in my view. Firestone Walker pivo is the benchmark but this beer from Brooklyn is appropriately malty and hoppy to be an easy recommendation for someone who wants to graduate from garbage AALs to a real Pilsner.

Appearance: Clear deep golden body, with a massive, quite dense snow-white head, creamy in appearance, and rather persistent. The lacing resembles frozen drizzle, scattered across a window pane. Profuse waves of carbonation drift lazily to the surface.

Aroma: A strong cracker malt presence vies with a wave of crisp noble hops.

Taste: Begins with pale malt, reminiscent of fresh-baked white bread, and a strong flourish of citrus and herbal hops. As the taste progresses, the hops rise to ascendency, leaving the malt as a moderate background presence. Finishes with a long, lingering, but mild bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, pleasant, with modest carbonation zest.

Drinkabilty/notes: A very nice, drinkable example. Perhaps not as sharply-drawn as a classic European Pilsener, but quite nice and refreshing, nonetheless.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Serving: 12 oz bottle poured into a Brooklyn Brewery tulip pint glass (marked "BB Jan, 2015").

Appearance: Slightly hazy, pale straw yellow. Rolling, frothy with head that dissipates to lingering crest of foam with good lacing.

Smell: Fresh, mild malty aroma (fresh bread, crackers) with some citrus and floral hops.

Taste: Malty body (fresh white bread) with very slight honey sweetness; lemony and floral hops continue from the nose. Just enough bitterness to balance the malt.

Mouthfeel: Light body with good, medium carbonation.

Overall: Not the most flavorful Pilsner, but balanced, crisp and satisfying (especially after a 5K run when consumed).

An American version of Pilsner. Has a sweeter fruitier taste and less hops bite than its European counterparts. A light and refreshing beer. Perhaps a tad too light and simple in terms of taste, but, nevertheless not a bad brew.

Poured into a pilsner glass:
Nice straw yellow body with a finger-thick of fluffy white head, great lacing.
Smells like bready pilsner malts, fresh grass, corn.
This tastes thick and creamy right off the bat. Sweet and chewy pilsner with tasty grains. Bready, corn, underlying bitterness. Somehow comes off heavier than the abv.
An all-star example. Bravo Brooklyn.

3 months past bb date. The slight skunk of pilsner malt is accompanied by light sweetness and floral hops. Malt dominates. Flavor reveals crackery malt at the base, with sweetness lingering in the aftertaste. The finish ends up being fairly crisp and lightly bitter. There's an underlying tang that is offputting.
