A very smooth stout. Nose is faint roasted coffee. Taste is well balanced coffee, malt and mild chocolate. Feel is medium with carbonation on the light side.

Gotta love a session ready oyster stout. This one fills the bill but not at the top of the oyster heap.

A) Suitably black-brown body with 1 finger beige head offering good retention and lacing.

S) Sweet, coffee, prune, charred wood, basement, and slightly smoky.

T) Smoky roasted upfront transforming into oysters on bready biscuity, sweet malt, and a finish full of smoke.

F) Not as full bodied as I'd like with low-to-moderate carbonation, and a dry finish. Good food beer.

O) Good session stout, would never tire of it, would blend well, but could maybe give a bigger mouthfeel.

Very dark color with a coffee and chocolate aroma. Taste translates from the nose. A bit more watery than I was expecting with little carbonation. This isn't my style but it's fairly decent.

Black in color. Poured with a moderate dark beige, slightly soapy foam with medium low retention. Lightly roasted malt and rich chocolate aromas. No hop aromas. Medium bodied with an incredible creamy smooth feel and medium light carbonation. Light warmth from the middle to the finish. Roasted malt up front followed by dark chocolate. Medium hop bitterness through the middle followed by dark roasted malt to the end. Finished dryly with light roasted malt notes. Well balanced with light roasted malts being offset by medium bitterness. Pleasant, subtle, simple, delicate aroma and flavor characteristics. Easy drinking.

Smelled chocolate notes upon opening the beer. The chocolate dominates the beer but as the beer warms up the coffee notes really shine through. Very smooth for a stout and probably one of the smoothest stouts that I have ever had.

I had the nitro version of this stout on draught in a bar. It was served in a tulip glass. It poured a dark mahogany - nearly opaque - with one finger of creamy, mocha-colored head. and lacing that did not dissipate throughout the pour. It smelled of burnt coffee, chocolate, and licorice. The taste largely follows the nose but it finishes with a slight hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is rather thin, not unexpected with the moderate ABV of 5.5%, but it is very creamy on nitro. Overall, it is a good representation of its style.

poured into a pint glass from 12oz bottle. bottled 2/26/16.

looks pretty decent, black body with large fluffy tan head. leaves very good lacing.

not too much on the nose, a little roastiness and faint coffee.

taste same as the nose. smooth tasting, not overly roasted malts.

mouth is a little on the thin side.

overall and ok session stout. Chocolate Love Stout is much better.

Smelled like wet dog. It was fine otherwise, a nice enough low-alcohol stout, but I couldn't get past the smell enough to ever justify a repeat purchase.

Very nice look and Oh so smooth! Maybe a little too sweet for some, but it went very well with the pizza! Nitrogen pour. I Bella Notte, Pittsburgh Strip after dropping Alea of to go back to VOH.

Pretty good stout here. Poured out of a bottle into a gravity glass. Not much of a head, but the taste is very good, with a heavy hint of coffee to it, slight chocolate taste but not overpoweringly sweet. Feels good, very smooth, creamy texture. Pretty carbonated. It's even better on tap, and they should totally get a nitro bottle of this produced.

Black in color with no penetration to light. There's a fingernail of beiger around the rim and the vast majority of the top. The aroma is chock full of dark malt and creamy lactose. The flavor is primarily that of sweet dark malt. The mouth is silky smooth and creamy.

Pours a deep brown with a thin tan head. Doesn't last but still manages some spots of lacing. The aroma is dark roasted malt with a with some sweet dark fruit and earthy notes. The taste is much the same. The body is a little lighter but pretty smooth.

12oz bottle pour into a tulip.
Look: Creamy fluffy head and pitch black.
Smell: Some coffee.
Taste: Some coffee here but it doesn't scream coffee.
Feel: Starts high on carbonation but finishes watery.
Overall: It's a decent stout. If this was on nitro, I can see this being better than Guinness. The mouthful could have been better.

After my stank ass done drank 14 of these fuckers in a session at some LAME ASS engagement party, with certainty and drink appeal, I can say this was a great stout. Nothing yall ain't had before, but after a 12 pack + 2, this mother user held strong and true like a concrete bridge support on the Ben Franklin Bridge. Drink this beer pussies.

Pours a dark Amber color. Has a light aroma roasted malts. Flavor is malty. A bit of a toasted flavor but not much else. Has a light aftertaste. Overall this is a stout 'light'. Nothing special here.

12 ounce bottle poured in to a tulip.

a: A brillant black. No light getting through this one. Supper sleek and sexy. 2 finger khaki head that dissipates quickly.

s: Modest Roasted malts. A bit of chocolate, but almost like Hersey's syrup. Very faint coffee presence.

t: Taste follows the aroma. A bit sweet for me, as if chocolate syrup was added. Light finish with a touch of hop spice.

mf: Creamy, light to medium body, light carbonation.

o: A very drinkable Stout. It just needs a touch more...of everything.

DATE TASTED: November 12, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Guinness pint... OCCASION: a rainy night looking forward to Friday... APPEARANCE: dark black body, as expected; brow, fraying head settles thickly, exhibiting creaminess and consistency... AROMA: chocolate and coffee immediately, as promised; some nuttiness in the malts, but the sweetness and toasted promise is clear and present--a pleasure to inhale... PALATE: creamy early, somewhat smooth in its middle, and lingering in its warmth late... a bit heavy and flat at the finish as well... TASTE: a silky sweetness begins the profile, and its toastiness is palpable but dry; peaty notes make for a rounded, relaxed flavor overall... OVERALL: a stout with little to complain about...actually, flip that--a stout with a lot going for it, and prop to Yards for getting it right...phenolic fragrance detracts slightly from the experience but overall, a solid styling...

t: milk chocolate, sweet caramel, sweet raisins, vanilla, brown sugar, and that subtle roasted malt bitterness (very subtle) at the end

m: very light mouthfeel, slightly silky. medium carbonation. very nice for the style

o: this is quite enjoyable. for a 5.5% stout, there is a nice amount of flavor in here that is well balanced and smooth. each sip makes you want to come back for more

This beer pours out a excellent black color and has a smell of chocolates.

The taste of this beer is that of dark chocolate, with a close-to-smooth feel, but that is due to coming from a bottle, and not from a nitro tap.

This is a beer I want to try from a nitro pour

Dark pour. Nice tan head with lacing down the glass. Hints of cocoa and cinnamon on the nose. Medium bodied with roasted hazelnut, toffee, dark chocolate, and a bit of bitterness to balance the beer. Yard's with another solid beverage and a great "English" style stout.

Yards Brewing Love Stout, dry Irish style stout, %5.5 ABV. IBU 20.5
Imbibed in a brandy snifter/tulip glass from East End Brewing

Look: 2 inch tan head in the glass. The body is black with red highlights in the bottom of the glass.
Nose: From the bottle I could get a faint smell of roasted malts. From the glass I got nothing.
Flavors: I taste coffee and roasty dark malt grains. From the first sip you get a nice bitter coffee taste on the aftertaste. It sometimes takes a while to get this with other stouts, but not this one.
Moulth: It is certainly smooth as silk and has a creamy feel just as advertised. There is not much carbonation. Just everything you would hope for in a classic style stout with the added creamyness and nice bitter aftertaste.
Overall: The more you drink it the longer that lovely coffee aftertaste lingers on your toungue. It is as lovely as the name implys. If you are looking for a good stout this has gotta be it. I think it is an excellent balance between being drinkable and having good substance and flavor.

Had on tap, nitro.

Pours near black, thin tan head remains for the duration of the beer.

Not much on the nose, a bit of chocolate and lots of malt.

Flavor is very nice. Malt brings a lot of chocolate, a hint of coffee but the dark roast characteristic is strongest.

Feel is rather typical for a nitro stout, not off but nothing overly remarkable. Nice beer.

On nitro tap at Homegrown in Newark, DE.

This one pours a cascading dark black, with a creamy foamy head, and lots of lacing. Classic nice nitro look.

Doesn't smell like a whole lot, some lactose maybe, and a bit of a chocolate. I don't think there's any lactose actually in here, but I definitely can kinda smell it.

This feels like it's probably pretty good, but it seems to have been neutered on nitro. There's some chocolate, and ashy nitro flavor, Not a whole lot else going on. It's definitely drinkable but it just feels like I'm looking at from the wrong perspective.

This is creamy, with a typical nitro mouthfeel.

Nitro is meh.

Just a flavorful excellent crafted stout, at a very reasonable abv. too. This is one of my favorite English Stouts. Would definitely buy again this rock solid representation of an English Stout.
