Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Not to be boastful, but we honestly believe all others pale in comparison to this one. Crisp and hoppy, Philadelphia Pale Ale is brewed with Pilsner malt and American hops, which impart a surprising citrus aroma.

Poured from bar tap a golden straw color with a fluffy white head. Has a noticeable lemony, piney aroma and is a bit thin in the mouth. The taste is interesting, sort of biscuity with a grapefruit note. Finishes with a hoppy piney lingering taste.

Pours a confusing golden color for a pale ale, looks like an adjunct lager, half finger head that recedes quickly.
Smells citrusy, piney, and of dank.
Tastes like very light, pine, followed by some earthy grapefruit, and then pilsner malt.
Light, crisp mouthfeel.
Overall, interesting, good complexity for a "session" pale ale.

12 ounce bottle poured into a glass can.

a: Looks like a pilsner. Crystal clear straw blonde body. Big bubbly white head. Dissipates quickly. Lacy.

s: Faint crackery malts, lemony Lysol scent.

t: Crackery malts. Lemon rind and grassy, floral hops. Very pithy.

mf: Light body. Medium carbonation. Crisp.

o: I have had better from these guys. Not bad, but not great.

Exceptionally smooth even out of the bottle. Great citrus aftertaste and overall a mild IPA

Poured from bottle into clean pilsner glass. Yellow champagne with lots of bubbles, puffy light head, lacing that slides but also remains on glass even when beer is gone. I like this beer very much for one or two, but after that it could create bitterness in the mouth. Scents and tastes of honey and lime. Light summery mouth feel, still fine for this warm November so far.

Pours a pillowy white head and a clear, straw body. Nice lacing down the glass. Scents of crystal malts and spruce spiced hops. Very smooth with tingly hops throughout the sip, but more toward the back end. Extremely good example of a true English pub ale. Easy to drink and a good session brew.
