Passionately brewed with over 200 pounds of pure, 100% cacao Belgian dark chocolate, this irresistibly smooth stout explodes with the taste and aroma of rich, dark chocolate goodness. Chocolate Love Stout will please you with its roasty maltiness and hints of vanilla and caramel

750 mL bottle poured into a tulip
A- Black with a big four finger beige head.
S- Roasted (almost burnt) malts, some chocolate, some coffee.
T- Creamy chocolate, just enough vanilla, some caramel malts, touch of roasted malts and coffee, great balance of flavors.
M- Silky smooth, creamy, light to medium body.
O- Another solid beer from Yards and I can't wait to pick up more. Great balance and mouthfeel. Very easy to drink.

Pours a very dark coffee color with a thick creamy head. There is an artificial chocolate aroma. I taste more coffee than chocolate, but the taste of alcohol overwhelms all.

Excellent flavor up front. Sweet and chocolate, but not too sweet. Nice and dark. Burger & Tap work mom on our return trip from Harrisburg for Boettinger Christmas party. Great reunion at the SC Alliance as well.

Yards Brewing Co. "Chocolate Love Stout"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON 11/28/18" and sampled on 02/22/19
$2.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Look: Black body beneath a short lived head of tan. Limited lacing, perhaps due to the oils of the cocoa powder.
Smell: Milk chocolate over both dark and grainy malts.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma with the milk chocolate as the main note over what seems a little like Ovaltine. A median bitterness balances it and it finishes mainly dry with some chocolate lingering.
Feel: Medium bodied with a lightly bristling carbonation.
Overall: There's enough chocolate here that it could easily work as a dessert beer, either on its own or used as an ingredient in something more, but it can also stand on its own.

If you let this warm in becomes a 4 in aroma and taste.
a) It's flattish compared to others, and a deeper brown than black, low carbination, not much last or lace.
s) But if you warm to cask it's delightful aroma of coffee, cocoa, fruit, malt. *(but no char)
t) Ditto all the above on smooth taste
f) Smooth, creamy feel but light.
o) Worthy of a blind taste with other blacks.

Look is black with a bit of red hue as the light hits it. Nice brown head when poured, but disappeared into a bit of lacing around edge. Smell is cocoa and a bit of coffee. Also getting a bit of fruit too. Taste is chocolate and malt. The chocolate picks up at the end and leaves a cocoa/coffee aftertaste. Sweet in the front, nice bittering in the back. Feel is light...almost too light. Would expect a bit more body. Overall, I tend to like sweeter stouts, and this delivers, but it also balances out nicely with the bitterness in the end. I'm going to go enjoy another!

This beer delivers. It is all it promises to be. The aroma and look are all Stout. Yet, the taste of dark chocolate is present as well. The balance is right for Stout fans as well as chocolate lovers. A Valentine’s Day gift, anyone?
