(12 oz bottle poured into a teku glass)

L: very dark brown liquid, just about opaque... puts up dark tan foam about a finger-width or more high, falls to thin collar... wants to lace, but no

S: smells like a damn dark chocolate bar (or cherry cordial), and it's quite lovely... hops buried... mild roast from the dark grain... delicate overtone of dry cereal grass

T: the roasty, dry stout flavor certainly comes out around the edges, but that barely-sweet and not actually all that bitter dark chocolate bunches and holds in the middle, finishing out drier than expected... getting a touch of nuttiness and perhaps a mild stone fruit (and/or cranberry?) ester past the finish, left behind in the aftertaste... mellow alcohol essence is present in background during a long pause between sips... definite coffee flavor develops halfway through, and the hops are light but do show later on... overall, perhaps a clash or cancelling out between elements - lacking some depth

F: it's approaching medium-bodied, but isn't quite round... faintly gritty residual outflow... doesn't excite the palate, but at least it's not syrupy

O: love how dry it is, so I could have 1 or 2 more ... the type of chocolate is a good choice and adds additional pleasant subtle facets to the dark, roasty grain flavors

pours jet black with a solid head.

smell is sweet, obviously a lot of chocolate notes.

taste is sweet and thin. very thin and watery for a 6.9% beer. not bad but not a complex and full bodied stout. the taste of chocolate and milk is at the forefront for me. not bad but not idea, i like some roastedness to my stouts.

overall not a bad beer but not a great beer. there are many stouts better than this one.

Looks nice-- pours a dark brown almost black chocolate color.
Created a nice long lived head with a tight knit light brown head that eventually combined into the surface of the beer. Laced the walls of the glass.
A mild nose-- with a hops note.
Flavor-- Yards labeled this libation as a Stout-- I'd call it more of a porter than a stout. Has chocolate notes at first but quickly melds into a benign flavor-- has some hops bitterness, toasted malt balancing the hops... but there's nothing particularly notable about the general flavor.
Mouthfeel is mild and smooth finish.
Overall this is a mild flavored and mild mouthfeel stanced beer.
This is a nice stout-- but I'd call it a porter rather than a stout.

Bought from the brewery right before Xmas, opened on St. Patty's Day 2015. Needed my stout fix so what the heck. Already had my corned beef and cabbage. Pours dark with nice soapy, large off white head. Smells of chocolate, some coffee espresso, and a touch of vanilla. Smells almost like opening up a packet of dried hot cocoa powder. A bit of burnt roast malt character. Tastes like a chocolate milkshake. Nice & lushy, foamy full mouthfeel. A tad sweet but okay given the chocolate character. No hops in nose or aroma, and that's fine. I don't want any hops in this kind of beer. Just enough bitterness though so it's not cloying. Overall, a fantastic beer that was fresh from the brewery and kept cold in the fridge since then. A very well made beer.
