Very Good
Notes: Delicious easy drinking London style porter. Dark brown with a restrained chocolate biscuit character derived from a combination of black and chocolate malts and roasted barley. Aromatic and medium bodied with a toasty toffee finish.

A- Tallboy into a wine glass with a midnight black body and a cream white cap. Head has a silky and foamy texture rising to a cm high with pretty good retention. Small webs of lacing.

S- On the scale of toasted to roasty porter this one leans fairly strongly to the roast side with big blackened malt, chocolate, coffee and roast barley notes. Roasty bitter and sweet grain balance with hints of toasted nuts, bread and baking cocoa.

T- Again on the roast end of the spectrum and the majority of the flavors revolve around bitter chocolate, coffee, burnt roast barley, dark toasted nuts, licorice, chocolate malt and toffee. Medium sweetness, bitterness from the hops and roast grains and a slight breast and fruity hint from the yeast. A hint of earthy hops.

MF- Medium-light bodied overall with a slightly creamy texture, a bit thin overall for the flavor profile. Moderate level of carbonation and a bittersweet finish.

Roast porter with deep flavors and aromas from the malts centered around chocolate and roast barley notes.

This Porter is simple. I'd prefer a little more on the back end, but they did a very good job.

Dark brown with a smallish head. Basic chocolate malt nose. Medium malty body. Crisp feel with some refreshing hoppiness. Quaffable.

Mom picked this up for me from out east. Thanks!

From a 16oz can into a pint glass.
IBU: 25

APPEARANCE: Pours a clear dark brown and yields a 1+ finger, looser, creamier, off-white head with good retention. Clear bistre brown body with some carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a good wisp and clings to the glass. Touches of wisp remains leaving some lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Toffee, butterscotch, chocolate notes and some lightly burnt aromas and hints of vanilla. Bold enough.

TASTE: Burnt notes with leather and toffee up front. Chocolate at the swallow with a bolder finish of toffee, butterscotch, chocolate, some burnt notes with hints of leather and tobacco. Solid.

PALATE: Medium body with medium levels of carbonation. Not overly creamy, a touch watery, goes down fine and finishes a bit mouth-coating.

OVERALL: Pretty good stuff. Nothing to write home about per se, but a solid porter with plenty of malt character. Thanks again, ma!

Serving Type: 473 mL Can poured into a Tulip glass.

L- Pours a Jet black hue topped with a fizzy 1/2 finger tan head. Decent retention. Light lacing.

S- Chocolate malt and a slight bit of coffee.

T- A good mix of biscuity malts and chocolate malts. Coffee on the aftertaste provides a nice balance.

F- Medium-Heavy body with low-moderate carbonation.

O- Nine Lock's Porter is a simple, but very tasty example of the style.
