Light, crisp, effervescent, and quenching, this seasonal Nine Locks Blonde is a North American-style Weizen brewed with Canadian wheat and barley. Bready, grainy wheat notes give way to a slightly tart, acidic finish with a refreshing hint of watermelon. It is the perfect choice for a summer BBQ, a night out with friends, or anytime you’re thirsting for something a little different.

473ml can - once again, a sales rep shits the bed on the seasonality of their releases. Good thing I like watermelon.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat fizzy dirty white head, which leaves a few instances of wispy cloud form lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of watermelon candies (it's the day after Hallowe'en, so I'm intimately familiar), bready and doughy cereal malt, a hint of generic citrus fruitiness, and ethereal earthy, musty, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, watermelon flesh and rind, more subtle citrus peel, and some plain leafy, weedy, and dead floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is average in its palate-coating frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with a nice airy creaminess arising as things warm up a tad out of the ol' basement bar fridge. It finishes off-dry, the malt and fading watermelon frooty essences presiding.

Overall - well, this one ranks up there (on the short list of watermelon beers that I have had), in the sense that the fruit character actually comes through, if in a sort of sweet-ish manner. It's fairly enjoyable, but I don't really think that I'd want more than one serving of it.

I do want to be nice here. I’m from NS and want to support provincial beers. Seems this brewery makes other beers, but I had this on draft at Portside in Sydney. It was 80 degrees in Sydney, yes, 80. Love the new Portside bar. So had a summer beer, and chose this. Damn, this was really bad. Tasted like a melted Jolly Rancher. I usually can choke down something but this....From what I read about this place a good brewery but this beer needs to be retired. Sorry folks.....hate to be a hater...but I bailed on this after 3 drinks.

Hazy gold with good head, mild fruit nose, medium wheat body with some tartness, pleasant carbonation. An enticing, thirst-quenching summer ale.
