It pours a cloudy dark brown with a good one inch foamy lumpy tan head. Foamy lacing is left around the sides of my nonic. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. The smell has the toasted oats and walnut up front with an ever so faint sense of hops in the background. The taste has the previously stated elements and combines some nice caramel tones. The palate is about a medium, slightly dry and a bit watery, but a decent watery. Overall, I was a bit skeptical in the beginning when I saw the price, but am glad I bought it to try a style I’m used to.

Nearly clear brown or with a lasting beige skim. Aroma is malty, slightly nutty with faint hints of cooked sugar. Flavor is similar, surprised it's not marketed as a nut brown. Lots of hazelnut, filbert. A little watery and finished a tad astringent, but quite enjoyable all around.

Outstanding brown enjoyed over the course of a weekend from a 64oz growler. Poured a clear brown with a light frothy head that lingers for a few minutes. Aroma of roasted malt, toasted nuts, burnt toast, light roast coffee grounds. Taste brings the coffee up front followed by a nice caramel/toffee combo, roasted malt, toasted brown bread. Finishes crisp with a light bitterness. Very drinkable - clean, crisp and tasty.

Had on tap at the restaurant and served in the 8 beer sampler. The beer had a slightly murky, dark amber appearance with a nutty malt aroma for its smell. The taste of the beer had a good mixture of being bittersweet from a mixture of nuts and breads, but there was some sweet malt too. The mouthfeel was also balanced between a creamy texture and good carbonation. Overall, I found this one to be not too bad across its characteristics.

Toasty biscuit and caramel aroma. Light, easy drinking body, quite appealing for fans of malty beers looking for an easy-drinking ale. Mild earth hop character. A fun subtle beer. I'd crack open another can.

A- Tallboy into a small pint glass with a pale brown body and a light nutty tan, frothy cap. The two finger head dies slowly to a medium ring and plentiful webs of lace remain.

S- Toasted grains and a medium level of sweetness. The browned grains drop hints of toasted nuts, caramel and sweets. Slight bread and pale fruits from the yeast. A touch of spiced raisin.

T- A fairly laidback overall brown ale that is much more towards the caramelized side than roasty. Opens up with toast, nuttiness, a hint of raisin and caramel sweets that lead to hints of leather, bread, earthy hops and light coffee. On the English end of the spectrum.

MF- Very light body and comes off as somewhat thin. Texture is lacking but overall it is slick and frothy.

A lighter brown ale that reminds me of some English versions with a nice balance between nutty malts and smooth yeast.

Poured with a two finger head that disintegrates into nice lacey traces. Smells and tastes nutty, almost toasty. A bit of a bitter taste left on the edges of the tongue. Looks smokey amber.
Love this brewery.

Pours clear, light brown in color, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is nut, light tea, and cracker. Solid, slightly above average brown ale. Would not pass this one up, but I prefer other Moat beers more.
